  Hi, I had the apple forums already and they have directed me here.

  I'm on an iMac computer in which I ran bootcamp and partitioned a drive for Windows, so I can play games and others. My brother gave me a digital version (no cd) of a game was, but he wants more in .iso format. I downloaded PowerISO to mount the image and tried to start the installation, but every time I start up the installation about 6 seconds, I get error 1607 installshield. I looked all over the internet trying to figure out what to do. Ive tried turning the firewall off and change the parameters of access and monitoring all trouble shooting methods found on the microsoft support page. Nothing seems to work. Can someone enlighten me please in how I should approach this problem.

  While trying to install several pieces of different software in the past months that I get an error that implies something happens with InstallShield.

  One of the programs is the game Oblivion, if I can get oblivion of work I can get probably other programs work.

  In any case, here is what the error after briefly showing the installation screen:

  "Unhandled exception".

  Error number: 0 x 80040706
  Description: Object reference not set

  The installation program will end now

  I have Windows Vista SP 2 on a HP Pavilion dv9000.

  The InstallShield version is 11.

  I decided to try a fix for a problem people, I saw had been seen with Windows Media Player.  Even if the problems seemed unrelated to this fix WORKED

  Run cmd as administrator and type: sfc/scannow

  Wait for the program to finish verification and repair of the system files.

  The problem was gone and now Oblivion and others my installs work, so if anyone has a similar problem on Vista, I would suggest that you try this first.

• vCenter Converter: Installshield Error 1335 data1.cab P2V Wizard

  I'm installing vCenter Converter v4.3 (P2V) on a Windows XP SP3 computer.

  The installation process fails with:

  "Error 1335: Cabinet file data1.cab required for this installation is damaged and cannot be used.".

  This is an error of Installshield Wizard.

  I checked the Md5 of the file installation (VMware converter-all-4.3.0 - 292238.exe) and it is correct.

  I used a copy of the installer on another computer Windows XP SP3, and installed correctly.

  I tried the following unsuccesully, the same error occurs each time:

  1 / /Unregister and then/regserver MSIEXEC

  2 / deleted MSI. DLL, MSIEXEC. DLL, MSIHND. DLL and re-installed the latest Installer Microsoft MSI v4.5.

  3 / delete C:\Program Files\Common InstallShield

  4 / implemented a fix registry CAB file.

  5 / rebooted the PC in a minimum configuration (MSCONFIG to disable all services by default, no provision of the automatic launch at system startup, but)

  6. completely uninstalled antivirus, firewall

  7 / made sure the path of the destination folder is short (ex. C:\VMC)

  Any suggestions please let me know.

  I recently had to reinstall Windows XP, because then I could not reinstall one of my programs, ACT! 2005 after 90 + % at the end of installation, I get the error message 1628 and can go no further.  I need to get this reinstalled program because it has all my info to customers.

  For most of the time I've encountered this error, I noticed that users have one of the following scenarios that affect their installation:

  1. The latest service packs could fail (make sure you have the latest service pack of the operating system your system windows is running).
  2. An older version of Windows Installer could be running (running windows service updates from time to time will ensure some updates a critical need as the Installer are supported at the same time an update is made available).
  3. Temp to be huge folder (I highly recommend users to get used to frequently run the disk cleanup utility but it must of course do not delete all the files install some applications refer to these locations, at a later stage)
  4. The file or the program being installed might have missing files (we should ensure that the location where the application is / is being installed contain all of the installation files.) In most cases, the files copied from media such as CDs/DVDs or FTP servers may have lack of files that could cause the installation to fail. Be sure that the same structure maintained in the original media - be it a downloaded file or storage media - is respected).

  Some of these shared solutions may not work for all users. I strongly suggest to consult the supplier/manufacturer of the product before you try anything on the host having problems with facilities.

  (2) remember to make changes?

  (3) when exactly you get this error message? When you perform a specific activity or even when the computer is idle?

  Method 1: Put the computer to boot and then check if the problem persists

  Follow step 1 in the link below,
  How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

  If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

  Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.
  After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

  Important: n ' forget not to put the computer to a normal startup follow step 7 in the link.

  This error seems to be related with InstallShield.  I did not experience myself, but see this page--> http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/installshield-error-5004-0x80070005.61658/

  I would like to start with the 'solution' down - rename the folder InstallShield/Professional.

  If all else fails, I suggest you to contact brother support and/or support Flexera Software (unfortunately, there is nothing in the Flexera KnowledgeBase on 5004 with argument 0x7e error and their 'community forum' is not functional at the moment).

  To get into Safe Mode, press F8 immediately after the restart.  If you get the Windows logo, you waited too long to start typing.  What you're looking for is white on black 'Advanced Boot Menu Options'.  When you see that, using the arrows (mouse doesn't work here) to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

  Reboot will automatically return to normal mode.
