Integrated Oracle database reports space usage out bad results?

Hi members,

I use GC 11g OEM. I created a group with 6-7 members.

I generated built-in reports "Area of database using Oracle (Group)".

-J' I note the sum of the current size (GB) / section "Use of space allocated by database" is equal to allocated (GB) / section "use of the current Cumulative space '... I consider that the data are correct. Current size allocated: 2, 3 to and used size to 1.8.

Good news... BUT the picture is FAKE! and does not match this amount:
On the chart allocated size (GB) is equal to 2 TB and used size (GB) is equal to 1.6 TB

question 1: why such a difference?

-Use of space allocated by database:
Current database average maximum minimum
Size (GB) used for free (GB) (GB) used (%) Size (GB) used for free (GB) (GB) used (%) Size (GB) used for free (GB) (GB) used (%) Size (GB) used for free (GB) (GB) used (%)

2nd question: results are BAD = > section/size (gb) current is superior to section/size (gb) maximum?
How to explain?

Thanks for your comments.

Best regards
Guillaume

Hi William,.

1 - my diagram of db group is, with the correct values. Why it's different in your case I don't know. You do not have the latest installed SGD patches?
2. same here. I some cases, max db size > current size, but it doesn't really bother me, since I barely use this report. You can check the calculation to help to create it as an option on the report of the "space of database using Oracle (Group)"

Why do you not use the description of the bug test case in Metalink (we obviously can't post it here because it would violate the copyright of Metalink)? Your test case is not a candidate for the elimination of the join, so he did not have the bug.

Have you really read the description of the bug in Metalink rather than just looking at the title of the bug? The bug itself is quite clear that a query plan that involves the elimination of the join is a necessary condition. The title of bug nothing will never tell the whole story.

If you try to work through a few tens of thousands of bugs in 11.1.0.7, of which many are not published, trying to determine whether your application would be affected by the bug? Wouldn't be order of magnitude easier to upgrade the application to 11.1.0.7 in a test environment and test the application to see what, if anything, breaks? Understand that the vast majority of the problems that people experience during an upgrade are not the result of bugs - they are the result of changes in behaviour documented as changes in query plans. And among those who encounter bugs, a relatively large fraction of the new variety. Even if you have completed the Herculean task of verifying each bug on your code base, which would not significantly easier upgrade. In addition, at the time wherever you actually performed this analysis, Oracle reportedly released 3 or 4 new versions.

And at this stage would be unwise to consider an upgrade to 11.2?

Yes, there is a free version called Oracle XE which works very well. In fact, it is intended (which Oracle referred to as) OEM applications. It is free to use, and there is assistance available forums which are also free. The free version has all the features of the business, with a couple of limit: first of all, it will only access a carrot in your CPU. Second, the maximum data size is 4 GB.

  • What do I need install Oracle Database 11 g 2 for the Oracle 10 g database migration?

    Hi all

Would you be kind enough to help me with the following question!  I currently have Oracle Database 10 g on the old servers to my work and I want to install the GR 11, 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Oracle database to new servers for upgrade.  I also forms, reports and Designer 10 g to maintain our existing applications.  So, I already looked in the Certification and found the following:

Latest version of the product: latest version of the database server window weblogic

    Form Builder 11.1.2.0.0 11.2.0.4.0 7, 2008 R2, 2008 10.3.6.0.0

    Reports           11.1.2.0.0                                           11.2.0.4.0                                                 7, 2008 R2, 2008                                   10.3.6.0.0

    Designer 10.1.2.6.0 11.2.0.1.0 xp, vista, 7, 2003 (all 32 bit)

For Designer, it is approved for a 32 - bit window, so I'm having trouble with the new requirement of system this window must be after 2003.  I want to take all of the availability and follow the Oracle certification (except that I will be given Designer because of compliance) as above.  I'm new with Oracle, and I don't know what comes with what to do it is complete.

    1. I'm going to install a database server (free 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

    2. I'll install the generator of reports and Forms Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with her?

    3. what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all existing data, forms and States more?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Remember that this forum is targeted to the Oracle Forms product, for questions about the database can be better answered in one of the areas of database.  That being said, here are my comments:

1 I'll install a database server (version 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

A database facility didn't need of WLS (which I am aware). Consider what you want is a typical design at three levels. Database - average level (applications server) - Client (tools and end user).   Each level has nothing to do with the other installation point of view assuming that they are not installed on the same computer. WLS is a middleware software (medium level). Be sure to check the product documentation before performing any installation. The 11.2 DB docs can be found here:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/index.htm

    2. I will install Forms Builder and Report Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with it?

Tools (Forms Builder, generator of reports, etc.) are not remote or web tools.  These must be installed on each developer's computer.  The installation of these tools does not require that WLS be installed first (on the developer's computer), but there is no need to be run unless the developer wants to apply locally for testing.  For a production deployment (multi-user), a similar concept will be used.  WLS will be installed first, followed by the forms and reports Services (runtime).  It will be on your remote server (medium level).  Software distribution you use will be exactly the same for the developer and the installation of intermediate level.  The difference will be in the options you choose during installation.  If you want to include manufacturers during installation, simply check the appropriate boxes when you are prompted.

Also, if you plan to use the forms/States 11 GR 2, I recommend not using 11.1.2.0 and instead use 11.1.2.2, which is the latest version. F/R 11.1.2.2 installation requires that you first install WLS 10.3.6.  You should refer to the product documentation before beginning any installation. Specifically, carefully examine the product Setup Guide and Guide to the system requirements. The 11.1.2.2 doc library can be found here:

3 what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all the existing data, forms and States on?

Looks like you've covered everything.  The granular details will be covered in the Installation and Guides to the system requirements.

    My recommendations:

o ensure that each machine has at least 4gig of RAM

o ensure that each machine has a static IP address before you start any part of the installation.  This can be done without a static IP address, but you must take additional steps (see Guide to Sys Req).

o on machines where you plan to install WLS, make sure you have a 64 bit JDK installed first.  If you don't use a F/R 11.1.2.2, you must use Java 6.  However, if you decide to use 11.1.2.2, you can use Java 6 or 7.  Do not use Java 8 in all cases.

When it comes to the designer, it must be installed on an old machine.  In General, I do not recommend to use it longer.  Although there is currently not a way to full migration out of it, you can use SQL Developer to manage the db objects that were created/used with it.  There are several MyOracleSupport documents that discuss the issue.  You can search the Knowledge Base of MOS to find or contact Support for more information.

  • Oracle Database Sizing CPU

    Hi all

Our production database is running on 12 CPU cores. Based on the "sar" report CPU utilization, we noticed this always above 90% idle CPU time and some time (for backup), he arrived nearly 70%. (This means that its use is of about ~ 30 to 40%). O ifyour team has decided to migrate this database to 6 core CPU in order to reduce the cost of license and server cost.

Please suggest it will be good to migrate the database to 6 CPU cores?

Can anyone please share me measures documents to capture the database, the CPU usage and also please share all documents on the sizing of the CPU/hardware of oracle database.

Our database current as below, server details

    Model of processor - Intel Xeon processor X 5650 @ 2.67 GHz (server - Dell PowerEdge M820)

Total number CPU = 24 (active multithreading)

    Total number of cores - 12, 2 physical cores CPU.i.e 2 * 6

    RAM - 64 GB

    Details of the database

    Version - 11.2.0.1 (NO CARS)

    Size - 400GO

    Users - 300 users (150 concurrent users).

Let me know if you need more information on this.

    Thank you

If you have Enterprise Edition licenses, you can test the effect on your current platform by enabling the instance caging. It is a low risk.

  • To talk to a different Oracle database Oracle

    Hello

What is the best way to transfer data from one oracle database server to another oracle database server.

I'm 100% sure that DBLINKS, but one customer recommend the FTP method to transfer files due to some complications of management.

What is the point of having two oracle databases and the ability of not using Oracle connect to another with a simple DBLINK. Why complicate with additional un.csv/.dmp more and then propose sqlloader/external?

And it's relatively such a small file.

I would really like to know some of your thoughts on this.

First: I didn't know you were running 10g to 10g. A you said at the beginning, I would have deleted one of my points.

    Your questions were:

    a. What is the best way to transfer data from one oracle database server to another oracle database server. I'm 100% sure it's DBLINKS

Not necessarily the case. That's why I pointed out reasons why DBLink isn't always the answer.

    b. What is the point with two oracle databases and the ability of not using Oracle connect to another with a simple DBLINK.

Because a DBLINK is not the solution to 100% of the cases.

    c. why complicate with additional un.csv/.dmp more and then propose sqlloader/external?

And why not? Because there may be reasons to do so.

(If DBLINK is the solution... Why is he not Transportable Tablespaces solution? Because not every transfer can be done with TTS. Similarly, not all transfer is best done with DBLinks).

Security is a sometimes a reason to not allow a DBLink. I saw DBA DBLinks of installation with the accounts with privileges 'ALL' in the remote databases. If I have access to an account that has a DBLink in a 'statement' database that connects to a database of EBusiness Suite Financials like APPS account - wow! There are a lot of danger in that as well. This is perhaps a reason why a general ban DBLinks is sometimes used.

Before "bad experiences" (for example with database queries) may be a reason for a total ban on DBLinks.

If you are a professional consultant, it becomes your job to convince your customer that you can provide a safer, faster method using DBLinks.

And then, as I say, a DBLink is not always the best solution. More than once it is. But not 100%

    Hi guys,.

How do you know if we need to strengthen the memory of oracle database?

I know, instance efficieny hit % is not an exact value to look at as low % does not mean that the server is running out of memory. This may mean that some of the sql made many complete analysis leading to low % of success.

It is advisory to watch SGA Advisory target / PGA Advisory target?

Read how physical improvement is considered a lot where we can consider adding memory to the sga?

kindly share your knowledge about what you guys are looking for normally to beef up.

    Thank you

It is advisory to watch SGA Advisory target / PGA Advisory target?

    Years: Yes.

In addition, you can check the ADDM report for your high-end database load time. In ADDM, you can get advice to increase the SGA.

But, if your end user is satisfied with the performance of the database then it is useless to increase SGA/PGA.

  • Question about the Oracle database resource management

    Good evening
I have a question about Oracle database Resource Management (DRM) for Oracle Database 10 g. I had an incident which, in a development/UAT environment (different instances, same box, don't ask), a developer wrote a wrong SQL statement that consumed 99% of the CPU. Currently, there is no limit of resources on two cases of db, and the developers don't want limits. However, my manager wants a method to prevent something like this does not happen. If I use the Oracle database resources management, create a consumer group (called "DevEnv") at 40% CPU usage, what will happen if a user of DevEnv runs a bad SQL statement that normally consumes 90% CPU again? Anyone would take a different approach? Thank you.
