Intel E5-2680 v3 vs no matter what i7 processor

Hey all. Right now my current setup is a former Dell Precision T7500 2 - X 5680 processors and 64 GB of ram ddr3 ECC dual GTX 680 4 GB version. These processors are up there in age, and I have my eyes set on a new system. The processor I chose to replace is the v3 Intel E5-2680, which is a 2.5 GHz processor, 12. Now, I stand to win some place this new processor, as the plug is about 3 revisions before my current setup. I want to go with a X 99 edge so I can have some future events.

My problem is, in most of the landmarks I found, there are other i7 processors that seem as they manipulate first a lot better that the intel that I chose, but I can't be sure that most of the time, the high range xeon don't are not dénoyauté exactly against the i7. So it is no more details I can find directly between the two against another. I'm looking for someone who knows if that is a better choice. I realize that the Xeon is incredibly expensive compared to the i7, but in this case, I do this for a living and money is not a problem. I want to just make sure that I get the best bang for my buck, and no one can tell me if the additional $ 800 will make me good.

Your current system was a monster in its day!

About your new construction, it depends. Check out the following post, where Eric Bowen of ADK made a lot of tests for different processors on motherboards Asus x 99 reference:

For most workflows, an overclocked i7-5960 x word be the best choice, but for some heavy lifting renders, the extra cores for more expensive, faster processors e5-26xx can pull ahead. Personally, I would choose the overclocked i7 every time unless you have the budget for a different build dual-Xeon.

Kind regards

Jim
