Intermediate nodes VPLS network

When you configure a VPLS network, I am wrong in my assumption that the intermediate nodes between two PEs participating in a VPLS need not understand VPLS? They simply just run MPLS, correct?

Hello

Yes it's true. It's sexy with MPLS, service can be deployed quickly, because the heart doesn't have to be changed (except QoS and bandwidth). A core DSL will make labels based on the top label switching... do not "know" what it carries.

Service is deployed by implementing all the features on the EP.

I hope this helps! Please note all messages.

    I have a question about different oracle coherence nodes through network clustering. I am aware that I can 2 coherence of the cluster nodes if they are on the same intranet. You will find below the description of the problem that I am trying to solve

    I tried the steps mentioned in the post that follows: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1047601 & tstart = 0.
    It does not work when I run on 2 of my machines connected to my intranet even.
    The machine IPs: 10.x.x.x. YYY.64 and 10.x.x.x. YYY.69 where XXX and YYY are the same for both IP addresses

    But when I run 2 instances of coherence cache server on my unix boxes, I can't join the cluser
    IP addresses are: 10.162.102.233 and 10.163.253.14

    Thank you!

    You can configure your cluster to use WKA.

  • VPLS with resilience

    Hi all

    I work with a client who has VPLS network linking all of their sites. The VPLS network is a single instance, creation of a single broadcast domain.

    The customer has purchased links to backup VPLS for two of their offices as shown in the attached diagram. The links are attached to the Cisco 3560 switches and L3 is managed by Lass, routes static and HSRP. Like all all the links are in the same VLAN and spanning tree blocks backup circuits 1 and 2 offices.

    He is currently working and manageable, but this network will increase over the next months a few more added 5 sites all with VPLS primary circuits and backup. My fear is that will spawn in a big mess of tree cover and will be difficult to evolve and manage,

    Is there a better way to achieve resilience without using the tree covering weight? I thought that dynamic routing can be used, but this custom stop prevention loop base layer 2 place unless the ports in the face of the VPLS are routed. Is this possible? If I go with routed port primary and backup links should be in different subnets?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Yes, office 3 will be a network 1 desktop via Office 2 accessibility and

    Office 1 will have 3 via Office 2 office network accessibility.

  • Network problems intermittent management with more than 1 works ESXi

    Hello

    I had problems since installation with our 2 x ESXi 5.5 nodes running on a Dell VRTX system.

    If I had to run 1 ESXi nodes on its own, it works perfectly, no problems what so ever, but as soon as I start the 2nd node they network for the management network connectivity problems.  However any virtual machine that you are running on them have no problem at all.

    The easiest way for me to check it comes to ping the management network and it will be on one of the nodes timeout, then it will randomly and knitting on this node but timeout on the other, they will never return a ping at the same time.

    If anyone has experienced this before? I fight to see if there is a problem with the installation on the ESXi hosts, the network Dell VRTX or our NetGear switch.

    I tried a lot of solutions and been through the different pages of VMware KB but can't seem to find something that suits him.

    The network Dell 8 physical ports are all in one LAG with 2 nodes added, I tried the distinct lag, but that made no difference, I am focusing now on if it is a parameter of VMware to see where that gets me.

    That's how the two nodes are configured.

    vmnet.JPG

    Solved!

    Finally, I spotted the problem, and VMware technical support fixed it for me.

    The MAC address of each management network was the same!, for some reason, the host of the 2nd got the MAC address of a NIC to host the premiere, don't know how its possible but VMware support restored all of the network settings from scratch and it picked up the correct MAC and works.

    Thank you all for your suggestions.

  • How to migrate a 'ReplicatedEnvironment' to a new set of servers?

    Hi all

    Our current 'ReplicatedEnvironment' must be migrated to a new set of servers with a new set of IP addresses.
    Is it mandatory to have at least the connectivity between the "master" Server and the new servers?

    I'm doing a local simulation as follows:
    |-NodeName-|-GroupName-|--NodeHostPort--|---HelperHost---|----EnvHome----|
    | Current1 | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:2001 | 127.0.0.1:2001 | ./envCurrent1 |
    | Current2 | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:2002 | 127.0.0.1:2001 | ./envCurrent2 |
    | Current3 | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:2003 | 127.0.0.1:2001 | ./envCurrent3 |
    With success, he created a ReplicatedEnvironment with Current1 as master and Current2/3 as replicas.
    Once the master and replicas are set, replica members are explicitly removed.
    java -jar je-4.1.7.jar DbGroupAdmin -groupName TEST -helperHosts 127.0.0.1:2001 -removeMember Current2
    java -jar je-4.1.7.jar DbGroupAdmin -groupName TEST -helperHosts 127.0.0.1:2001 -removeMember Current3
    Then all the ReplicatedEnvironment are stop and I try to start a new ReplicatedEnvironment with the following configuration unsuccessfully :-(
    |-NodeName-|-GroupName-|--NodeHostPort--|---HelperHost---|----EnvHome----|
    | New1     | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:3001 | 127.0.0.1:3001 | ./envCurrent1 |
    | New2     | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:3002 | 127.0.0.1:3001 | ./envNew2     |
    | New3     | TEST      | 127.0.0.1:3003 | 127.0.0.1:3001 | ./envNew3     |
    Each je.info.0 displays the following message: "new unknown node to the rep New1/2/3(-1) group.

    So... is - it possible to somehow change the internal replication metadata to avoid the need for a "visibility on the network" between the old and the new infrastructure?

    ARO
    / Caesar.

    Caesar,

    In a future release, we have a new feature that allows you to change the network address of a replicated environment, so you can do what you are trying to accomplish. This is a new option on DbGroupAdmin and a new method on ReplicationGroupAdmin:

    updateAddress-
    # update the network address of a
    # node. The node should not be alive when
    # address update

    Note that it won't let you change the name of the node. The node name is unique for the Group and is immutable. To change the node name, you will need to remove and re-add the node. However, I don't think you really need to change the node name, network address.

    However, I fear this is not available publicly yet. In 4.1.7 you will need to add the new nodes and remove old nodes, but as you say, it requires network connectivity.

    Another option is to use DbDump to generate data on the application of one of the intermediate nodes. You would have to DbLoad which in a production node, use DbEnableReplication to reproduce and add nodes to the group.

    I will also contact you by email to suggest another option.

  • Class SystemConstraint does not work

    Hi all,

    I am trying to apply this constraint to my network "uNet". In particular, I want to calculate the shortestPath avoid a node. I took the code Java from the "Pro Oracle Spatial for Oracle Database 11 g" manual, Listing 10-28. With other Java code on the manual I have no problems, instead does not have this list 10-28.

    The problem is after the shortestPath() method. It is said to me:
    java.lang.NullPointerExcepion to calcolopercorso. Main.main

    So, I think that the path of the object is not created. I think that a problem can be that the method of shortestPath() want a NetworkConstrainttype, instead the manual pass myConstraint variable which is of type SystemConstraint.
    Is possible that it is a bug in the code?

    What do you think about this? The code is the following:

    Listing 10-28. Using the SystemConstraint class

    Set up a constraint system with a list of nodes to avoid and a cost limit
    int [] avoidNodes = {36119}; To avoid nodes
    SystemConstraint myConstraint = new SystemConstraint (uNet, avoidNodes);
    myConstraint.setMaxCost (1000);

    Get the shortest path between N4 and N3 in view of the constraint
    Path = NetworkManager.shortestPath (uNet, 378793, 621331, myConstraint );

    Here the problem

    See the path cost and number of links
    System.out.println ("path cost:" + path.getCost ());
    System.out.println ("number of links:"+ path.getNoOfLinks () ");
    System.out.println ("Simple path?" + path.isSimple ());

    Show the covered bonds
    System.out.println ("' driven links:" ");
    Link [] linkArray = path.getLinkArray ();
    for (int i = 0; i < linkArray.length; i ++)
    System.out.println ("link" + linkArray. getID() ")
    + "\t" + linkArray [i] .getName () + "\t"+ linkArray [i] .getCost ());

    See traveled nodes
    System.out.println ("' crossed nodes:");
    Node [] nodeArray = path.getNodeArray ();
    for (int i = 0; i < nodeArray.length; i ++)
    System.out.println ("node"+ nodeArray [i] .getID () + "\t")
    + nodeArray [i]. GetName() + "\t"+ nodeArray [i] .getCost ());

    Thanks to all in advance.

    You can try to set the maximum cost for a much large number (100,000) and see if he can find the shortest path with the node you want to avoid.
    I'm not sure about your network connectivity. Is fully connected and with many paths between a start and an end node in general?
    Is it possible to print your SystemConstraint?
    What is the path cost you one without coercion?
    You can also try another intermediate node to avoid and see if it works.

  • Pavilion 14-al015na: new HP laptop reboot without warning

    I would like to start by saying that I am not savvy computer very waves and too complex answers will just go over my head. Honestly I do not know if I chose the right subforum for it (sorry if I don't!). Please try to put the answers in stupid people talk

    I bought a HP Pavilion with a processor intel core i3 (this: http://www.johnlewis.com/hp-pavilion-14-al015na-laptop-intel-core-i3-8gb-ram-1tb-14-natural-silver/p...) there are less than a month and I barely use it's really for uni starts back. Despite this, I had problems several times with it restarts without warning, while I'm in the middle of something. I also had this error message once: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (bcmwl63a.sys) as it turns off. He also asked to be restarted for updates and just because he apparently wanted to basically all the time it is turned on.

    I moved all my documents, photos and music from my old laptop (also a HP) to my new but I have left the program etc. files behind. My old laptop had issues where it would freeze and become completely unresponsive (does not restart as in the case of my new laptop) and have to be turned off by the power button, and anything I worked on to lose and it was one of the few reasons I decided to replace it. In addition, whenever I turned on it he grew up a pop-up, the kind you see when you install a program. I uninstalled the program in question, but the pop-up persisted. I've always had a McAfee antivirus protection on all of my devices - computers of my phone, which was connected to the time - but I guess that something got through between the cracks?

    Basically, I would like to know if the issues with my new laptop are the result of a virus or not (the same who touched my old laptop?) and of course be saved or not. Thanks in advance,

    Estella.

    @leaf2,
    Thanks for joining the Forums HP, Estella.
    I'll be happy to help you!

    I understand that your laptop will restart without warning after posting the message-"(bcmwl63a.sys) SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" once, it freezes constantly and frequently reboots, here's what I recommend that we do:

    According to my research, it could be a bad driver, the origin of the problem otherwise we will need to perform a test of hardware on your memory card, I'll let you know how to do this, later.

    To remove the bad driver, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Start Control Panel, click hardware and soundand then click Device Manager.

    2. Expand the node under network adapters, right-click the device entry, and then click on Properties.

    3. Select the driver, and then click Roll Back drivers, if it is gray in color (impossible to click) select uninstall drivers.

    Made the above, restart the computer and then go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your network card: Click here.

    If the problem persists, click here for - "How do I run a test of hardware on your laptop.

    Keep me posted!

    Kind regards

  • Reference Dell Powerconnect 5324/5424 STP Configuration Question...

    Hey guys,.

    I have a basic > intermediate understanding of networking. I recently loaded the research in what seems at first sight be an STP issue on our corporate network. Without going into too much detail, I think I found the cause of the problem. Within our network, we have our basic switching infrastructure and then a second pair of switches / second a lot, much smaller network that "needs" to be completely isolated from the base and core STP network.

    However, I have discovered recently that this second network / set of switches are not as isolated as we thought. The second, network supposed to be isolated was installed by a 3rd party company - their statements being that the network should be completely independent of our core network and the only link between the two must be access / management connection so that we can telnet to these switches in the network of base if necessary.  However, I recently discovered that these switches on the isolated network are part of our STP! Not only that, but one of these switches is as root (as it has the smallest MAC address). It is through the management / access ports I think of BDPU must be get sent and received. Is there a way that I stop BDPU being sent and received during these management / access of connections between these two networks - therefore isolate the secondary network and making it create two instances of STP - one for the main network and the other for the secondary. We always request the ability to Telnet to these core network switches - I just need to block/filter STP on Internet access / management ports.

    Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and respond to this.

    With protocols spanning tree disabled on the port should not send BDPU frames.

  • eBGP Mesh - failure of redundancy

    Hi all

    I have the following problem, I hope that people can help me with. I built a laboratory as a proof of concept.

    The topology is attached.

    > There are 4 sites, each site is connected via two separate networks of VPLS. The objective is that as long as there is an active carrier in a site, it can still reach each network.

    > Each site is advertising he received and local roads.

    In this scenario,.

    Delivery man dropped in Frankfurt

    Carrier B has fallen to CIX

    There are two problems with the current scenario.

    1. all sites can see roads to each other, but can't ping each other... from the best paths I believe it is because of asynchronous routing but the I'm not sure how to correct without using redistributed static

    2. I divided subnets travel via a specific VPLS network based on local preference, my original thoughts were that if a carrier falls into a site he would pass all traffic on the second VPLS network and reach the router like this. However, he chooses a path with multiple jumps.  I know the local preference is better... so need to sort the low favorite hops.

    Thank you for your help

    Hello.

    I don't know what the problem with pings - please provide traces between devices for troubleshooting.

    Prefer one way rather than another without sticking preferably by clouds, you might use as path prepend: when you advertise you orange prefix on the prefix B carrier or blue to the deliveryman, add two times.

    In this case you won't have no handling of LP.

    In this case you will not need to the list of prefixes in router, because precede happen on originating router only.

    Hello

    I have an intermediate knowledge of networking systems, but I'm a little confused here and looking for a little help. That's what I try to do;
    I have an office with 3 computers all connected to a home network via LAN (through a router). One of the machines has a wireless dongle which is connected to a connection high speed of our adjoining office (and their network). I'm trying to set up the PC with the dongle to use internet connection sharing with the rest of the PC. Is this possible? And I need specific adjustment / cable on the router?
    Any help would be appreciated. It's probably also worth noting that I am unable to do a lot with the router/modem that is actually connected to the internet, as it is one) in a nearby office and b) not ours. The office just next door are asked "loan" us internet until we can be connected in a few weeks. We also use Windows 7 ultimate N

    Hello

    As you have followed all the steps (verification of status and health of asm/cluster/diskgroup) correctly... This message should be ignored.

    Why is this happening?
    In ASM 11.2 start before CRSD and ASM stop after CRSD when OCR is located on ASM... CRSD (OCR) is dependent on the ASM.
    Due the sequence start or stop CRSD always is offline when the DSO try register or cancel the registration of the diskgroup resource. If this warning is logged on alert.log

    But don't you worry at the start of the CRSD the diskgroup resource sync by oraagent once clusterware is fully up

    Tip: ASM depend on the CSSD (VOTEDISK) must be started. Because this VOTEDISK is placed directly on ASMDISK. This is the case VOTEDISK doesn't depend on ASM.

    Kind regards

  • R12: Copy a group of companies with configurations, metadata and data in the same instance of OA

    The idea was born to a very common condition between the companies IT. pre-sales and pro-ventes groups do various tasks, including the response of the RPF/RFI, PoC, building, Solution architecture, customer demo etc. Ususally they do not have the dedicated application instances, or rather they do not find a sufficient number of cases of applications dedicated to deep study of the road. Every other day a group cries out for an Apps instance and the same gets lift for senior management in short time. It gives a lot of pain to the infrastructure/DBA groups because they fail to meet people like them, due to the limited availability of free nodes, resources, networks and space etc.

    I have a Vision of the R12.1.3 (tell SID = VIS1213) installed on a Linux machine. The box is quite busy with his hearts limited, showing little free memory and the attached SAN has insufficient free space remaining. A group of Oracle Apps pre-sales consultants, says "Group 1", is the use of this.»

    Now the 3 other groups are asking for a R12.1.3 Vision instance separately for different reasons below. Each of them wants the instance again and do not share with others.

    Group 2 for deep study of the road against a critical response to RFP
    Group-3 for the development of a point of contact for a customer demo
    Group 4 for the manufacture of PUK media on some business processes

    In this scenario, I should install 3 distinct Vision of R12.1.3 (using CDs or downloaded zip) or clone VIS1213 in 3 different places with different SIDS, possibly on one or more separated nodes (as above Linux node has insufficient free resources). In this case, the need for available server resources and disk space multiplied by 3, so that DBA maintenance for these 3 new instances is added.

    Hope that I have clear air up to this point.

    Then I was thinking if we have "virtual instances" within an existing instance of Apps, by copying from a vertain org level. First I thought I'd take THE level, but it will not work if an instance of group to work with HRMS claims. We must therefore take business group level. After that we will create the appropriate role and responsibility, user profile options so that the new user can see and work on the new BG and data area down only. It will be like a separate instance to use.
    Benefits of my desired task will be

    -no separate server resource, the required network
    -no additional DBA not involved maintenance
    -no separate required backup plan

    So here it is to create 3 new "virtual instances" right within the same instance of VIS1213. New groups will have same URL, same existing TNS details but 3 credentials different existing access. Each of them would be limited in a way so that they can not see each and other data and can not hurt each and other changes.

    This can be achieved if we can copy an existing group of its activities with org structures, metadata and data, within the same instance. Oralce planning cannot be copied within the same instance configurations.

    What I've done so far was I manually created a new BG, attached an existing sobbing (CoA, Agenda / currency), created a new, copied and modified accounting structure flexfields before fixing, created the new ORGANIZATIONAL unit, and then a new InvOrg of master and a new InvOrg clild, defined the profile MO some GL and HR profiles. Then I extracted finished master and data assignment article category Masters against a master/child existing InvOrg, updated the data for newly created InvOrgs, inserted into tables insterface and ran seeded import conc program element. Except for a few, all data have been loaded into base against new InvOrgs tables.

    Then I tried with master provider (with sites and contacts). A few AP configurations are required, and then data provider (+ contact + site) have been loaded against OR newly created (under new BG) base tables.

    I do not proceed after that. I'm currently looking for ideas from the experts on how to go further.

    Planning is able to create this kind of 'virtual instance' within the same instance of OSTEOARTHRITIS?

    PL nowadays return.

    Thank you and best regards,
