The Windows startup sound no longer plays

Windows 7, 64-bit by using Windows Update.

When I turn on the PC or restart the Windows startup sound does not play.  This has nothing to do with the sounds of opening or closing session.  We are talking sound startup only.  Any other system sounds work fine.
Any ideas on what's changed here to reach?  Thank you.

I agree. There is no solution to this problem so far.

The alleged answer above re Steamer Service from NVIDIA might work if you have the service running... but I did not.
I always have this problem on a laptop Dell D830 using SigmaTel High Definition Audio. The last time when the startup sound has played once was after I did a registry cleaning. Since then he has not played again.
All other sounds play fine.
Convince me that it is not a registry problem! Someone at MS should know the answer. Come out, come out wherever you are.

  • Stuck in the Windows Startup logo

Hi I have a problem in my laptop, my OS is Windows 7 Home Basic. I'm stuck in the Windows Startup logo (that has a black background), I'm stuck more then an hour ago and the home screen do not appear. I tried to boot up my laptop in safe mode, but I'm stuck also. I tried to format my C drive and reinstall windows 7 but I'm stuck when the starting configuration are the cursor of the mouse is just turning, I waited over an hour and nothing happens.

Can someone help me, I want to format my whole HARD drive and have a clean install of windows 7. 7.

    Hello

How you try to install the OS? You use Windows 7 DVD, or you are trying to install from the hard drive?

The Partition 1, which is the system partition, the files to start the operating system. For more information on the system partition, you can check the below link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows/what-are-system-boot-partitions#1TC=Windows-7

4 the Partition, which is the recovery Partition, is the one which contans the image of the operating system, provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). More likely you would not have received installation media with the system and recovery partition conatins the image of the operating system, you can use if you want to reinstall the operating system.

If you do not have the installation media and you have not created an either, it's only the recovery partition you can reinstall the operating system.

  • The lost stereo sounds when you play.

    Hi all.

I'm on a Dell xps 15 I bought 1 year ago. I started playing a few FPS games recently.

As a first step, there is are not problems but now something really strange and annoying happens, every time I start my new game (or when the server change the level, the game is reset) I lose my stereo sounds, which is very important on FPS games (to see if people are to the left or right (even backward or forward if I have 5.1 headphones). The sounds come right in the Middle, as if a person on my right takes a hit, the noise is coming from both sides, it SHOULD just where the right earphone.

To solve this I found a weird way, it's go to the Realtek HD audio Manager--> speaker / headphone-->--> change quadraphonic Setup speaker setup / 5.1 and then change to stereo--> back to the game and sounds come back perfectly.

Actually I think it was the game that does not work properly, but I just got a new game and it played for a while, the same thing happen.

What kind of problem is this you? and how to fix it forever? It's really annoying as a match lasts no more than 20-30 minutes. After that, I have to go to Alt - tab then redo things (as I do not play on a particular server, I change quite often server that do sounds wrong as well). Sometimes alt - tab too makes the system freezes :(

Thanks for reading and hope you understand what I mean xDD. Also the sound card driver is supposed to function properly, latest version.

Here's the direct link to the version A12 of BIOS for XPS L502x. I think the same as A11 A12 but A12 provides support for Windows 8.

  • Start-up delays between the Windows startup and the logon screen

I have two PC's that have essentially the same Intel motherboard, but with different form factors. The smallest has a less powerful CPU and a slower hard drive. Still more has a significant delay between displaying the logon screen and Windows startup. Between the two, the display shows a cursor that cannot be moved through the mouse for 30 seconds or more, while on the smaller than the slider shows only for about a second.

I realize, the problem could be many things, but I'm guessing that material or a device sound driver. I watched the event logs, but I couldn't see anything strange. I expected to see a "CPU does not ' or"USB 3.0 controller has a hardware problem"kind of thing. I ran Intel IPDT but he did not find a problem. Device Manager displays all of the problems. There is no graphics card on a system. I unplugged the USB cable to the printer, but that did nothing. No games are installed on a system. Nothing seems to be overheating. There is no network drive. All drives are SATA and BIOS is set to AHCI.

Someone at - it the words of wisdom about what should I look for in the event logs?

    If it were my system:

    1. I'd be more suspicious of malware, run ADWcleaner and have a good antivirus program
    2. I would use the manufacturer of my disk drive hard testing program to ensure that it is not a failure
    3. I would like to be sure that none of the drives are more than 75% in use
    4. I would check my memory using the auditor memory Windows 7
    5. I would like to install and run Autoruns to check what is in the startup process
    6. AND, above all, focus on the applications installed.  Some of them are notorious resource hogs who insist on running at startup.
    7. Remove Programs/applications from starting unless I really need to start

Common unbelievers that cause slow-start ups:

I run Windows 7 Pro on a 120 GB SSD and the operating system would usually start within 15 seconds, but me being silly I decided to change the startup sound, so I downloaded a few changer it starts up and changed the startup sound. So I turned off my computer and wanted to see if it would work. The first time, it's just frozed on the Asus BIOS splash screen. So I force off and then tried again, but this time the screen off for a good 10 seconds on a terminal like screen, then in the dark for 10 seconds and then it started. I could wait the extra 20 seconds, but I'd rather not. After that, I thought it was something to do with the imageres file in system32, so I replaced by a non-screwed upward the same problem occurs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated that the laptop is relatively new. Thank you.

It's time to find your set of recovery disks or usb recovery media that you created when you set up your laptop.

If you have not created a set, you have the choice of where to get a set of recovery disks. The cost is usually about $30,00 USD

    Order a HP recovery disk
    from an HP partner

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP for a warranty replacement drive. Refer to the troubleshooting forum and give the representative of I.D. failure HP support: Q4QG9R-54T6LD-9XL03G-60QM03d if requested.

If it is in warranty, just buy a replacement and remove the original disc and put the new in its place.  Insert the first diskette in recovery agree for the warning to commit to a recovery and image selection recovery plant.

You can also use the Microsoft Windows COA 25 character license key and install Windows 7 from a usb\dvd Installer. The usb Installer is highly recommended.  You can download an iso file for your operating system here.

  • My computer guard direct me to the Windows Startup Repair loop. Is this a virus? If this is not the case, what should I do?

    OK, here's a little history:
When was surfing the Internet (using Mozilla Firefox), he froze and said that he "did not." Then I left the computer alone for a good 15 minutes, but to realize that nothing happened. From there, I decided to disconnect the computer to see if I can re - open Firefox. But when I tried to connect it back, the computer take me on the desk. It was stuck at the screen that says 'Welcome' (the form that appears after clicking on your user name) in the end, I turned off the computer by holding the power button, because there was nothing I could do. When I turned on the computer a few minutes later, it was time that I met a huge problem.

    The problem:
When I turned it back on, a black screen appears that gives you the ability to boot your system with a repair on your computer, or start normally. I chose "start normally. After that, it took me a blue screen with a window that says "Startup Repair". He began to scan the computer saying «attempted repairs...» "When I saw this, I turned immediately shut down the computer, thinking it was some sort of virus that pretends to fix the computer. Nevertheless, I decided to turn it on for the second time. Of course, it's the same thing. But this time, I allow the scanning process to complete. When it was over, he said that the system could not be repaired and advised me to contact Microsoft, with my "contact information." I took this as a red flag, and click Cancel. I suspected it was an attempt to identity theft. (Though, I could be wrong, of course.)

Honestly, I don't know if if there is indeed something wrong with the computer or if it's a virus.

I tried to find out by going online and looking for solutions. From there, I tried a method where you press F8 several times until the Advanced Boot Options go up and selected "Last known Configuration" that did not work. I also heard on the "chkdsk" method, but I don't know how to do and there is no guarantee this will work.

After that, I did more research and realized there were several ways to solve this problem. But when I went through the tutorials, the steps have been very confusing to me. I felt like most of these tutorials aimed computer technicians or people who knew in fixing computers. The steps were so confused until I found myself referring more questions than real answers!

So now I'm reaching out to help, and I really need! It would be greatly appreciated! I really don't want to format all my data.

Please keep in mind that I am a lover of computers operating. The two programs I normally use are Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Word. So please don't be assuming that I know my way in and out of a computer. I'm no where near, in every sense of the term, an 'Expert '. If you can, I would like a simple, easy to follow, simple tutorial, step by step, which is not turned to professional users. Still, I am not very competent in operating computers.

    Hello

    You have tried yet.

Scan of Malware in Safe Mode with network.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.
