Intermittent permission problems on the Documents directed to the network share folder.

Everyone knows this intermittent problem before?   We have Vista workstations where each employee is allocated storage (disks Home) on a network drive (on a NetApp storage device).  Each employee Documents folder is redirected to a folder dedicated to this place.

The vast majority of employees is having no problems with this configuration, but we recently did not have a low percentage of employees who are starting to have problems with strange permission on this network through their Documents folder drive.

First of all, NTFS permissions have been confirmed as correct on the respective folder of each (each has been granted full control).   In each case, random, users encounter intermittent "access denied" errors when you try to save files (Word documents, Excel, files jpg even spreadsheets) on their own drive of home.  Typically, the problem occurs independently to know if they are trying to save the docs within an application (Word, Excel, etc.) and manually via a Windows Explorer window.

For example, a user could save an Excel file in a subfolder in the folder root documents, but a few moments later could not save a jpg file in the same folder.  It has been verified that it has full control over both the folder root of Documents as the subfolder containing the documents.

Another user can save files Word and Excel in its Documents, but then failed to open their shortly after (access denied).   It has been verified that he has full control of both the root folder of Documents than the subfolder containing the documents.

NTFS permissions are well positioned, but yet, we have still some weird permission issues.   Y at - he recommended registry entries to check as we redirect Documents to a network drive?

    Hello Verashanley

    Since how long did begin?
You have added a new software or hardware to the system?
If the issue took place recently then you can try the system restore.
If you have recently added anything to the system (hardware or software), then remove.
If the system restore does not then check in Device Manager and verify that the network card is considered and no errors appear.
To open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click performance and Maintenanceand then click System. In the hardware tab, click Device Manager.
Check the type of network card you have and that you try to update the drivers from the hardware manufactures Web site.
Also, check the connection for the network adapter. Do you see any physical damage. When you plug the NIC saw all the lights on the network card lights up? If not, then you can deal with a hardware problem and need to contact the manufacture of the system and see about obtaining the card replaced.
Let me know the results. Thank you.

    Hello

Start Windows Explorer, and then see if there is a drive letter assigned for access to the
drive. If this is not the case, check if the disc is shown in disk management.

    1. Open Computer Management by clicking on the button start , by clicking on Control Panel, system and security, clicking Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the left pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

If there has made a right click option - assign a drive letter for you can use Windows
    Explorer to copy files.

    I hope this helps.

Disable the DHCP broadcast flag: link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

(How to back up and restore the registry in Windows)

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}

    3. in this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.

    4. on the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.

    5. in the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.

6 right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.

    7. in the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.

    8. close the registry editor.

By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.

    Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • Windows 7 loses access to the network share when unplug wired connection

With my laptop Windows 7 Pro (64-bit SP1;) docked and thus have wired network (within a domain), I can access shares network very well. A wireless connection is active at the same time. When I detach, Windows Explorer and Office applications get upset some of the time. In addition, this is the case when I anchor. He didn't there has no problem opening a file on the network share when I'm rooted or not anchored, but the transition is not well. Windows launches the error code 0 x 80070035, Windows cannot access , the network path was not found. When it is connected to our wireless network, the machine name is altered by an additional letter. The latter has led to a problem that had to be cleared up by a patch installed by my system administrator, but the problem persisted.

I understand that Windows 7 should be smart enough to pass interfaces for network access, having a preference for a wiring if it is available (perhaps even the connection data rate). Maybe it's too much to expect that the operating system could make this transition, but it seemed that my Vista laptop has done very well. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you.

I am running Windows 8 Pro and if I setup with a local account, I can access my server to NetApp files very well. As soon as I switch to a Microsoft Account, I can't connect to file shares. I get "the specified server cannot perform the requested operation."

How can I use my Microsoft Account and still access the network share?

Also, I have a laptop running Windows 8, connected to the same network that can access the share file very well. I already tried a "system refresh" and complete a reinstall.

  • How can I connect to the internet? Problems involving the network and sharing Center does not.

    Hello.
I live in a House and bought a range extender so that I can get a connection in my basement as well.  I have installation range Extenders without problem.  When you install the range extender, I changed my name to my network router.  I changed the name of the network by typing 192.168.1.1 in my browser.
The MacBook connects without a problem.  In the basement, the connection of Windows 7 works very well.  I have just connected Vaio Windows 7 my mother to the network, but it prompted that I enter the user credentials.  I read a post above and got that problem solved by opening the network and sharing Center and adding a new connection.  Now that the connection is configured correctly.
The problem is with the laptop HP Windows Vista family basis.  Since I install the range extender, I can't connect to the network.  He had no problems before you connect the router or other networks to visit other places.  The new network name appears, but when I click it, it says I have to enter the user credentials.  I tried to manually, but the name is taken so I can't make a new and invites me to connect to the network that is established or to connect to a different network.
    • I tried to open the network and sharing Center, but it does not open.  When I click it, it opens a screen for a brief second.  The option "Display the status of network and tasks" opens either.
    • I logged as an Administration by entering the command line < net="" user="" administrator="" ctive:yes=""> > and restarted the laptop.  Even logged in as administrator, this folder does not open.
    • I also did a scan < sfc="" cannow=""> >.  The digitized rolled up with an error, but the error has been corrected.
    • I also updated the connection of the range extender.
Why the network and sharing Center will not be open to the top?
How can I configure my router my HP Windows Vista Linksys connection?
Thank you.  Please let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks for your reply.

In a last attempt, my sister has used the ethernet cable to connect directly to our router.  Next time, she turned on her laptop, she managed to connect to our wireless network and she was not invited to enter credentials.
In this case, the manual connection helped solved the problem.
  • problem with the network - connection for developers

    Hello

I use RAC Oracle 11 GR 2 on top of RH Linux (2 nodes).
The cluster will be accessed by the application server (web application running on another Windows machine).

I want to push the entire application (= users) via dedicated network traffic (non-public LAN) between the application server and database cluster. Call the network "internal public".
(For info only, it's for the love of performance).

This wouldn't be a problem if the developers do not need to connect directly to the database. But they need!

Please, explain to me, if possible, the creation of network (and install clusterware/db) in order to allow:
    1. the traffic between the application server and cluster db (say in the subnet 192.168.0.0/24 and - "internal public")
    2. connect the developers on LAN this db (from subnet company public 10.154.40.0/24).

Novel interconnection is the 3rd network but does not affect other networks so jump us here.
And don't worry, I've got enough ethernet adapters.

I understand that listeners will work on the given IP in / 1 /.
But is there a way somehow LAN connections to transmit this subnet 'internal public' or something else...?

    Hi John,.

    your forgotten an important step:

Set the listener_networks parameter in the case to separate the two networks.

You will have the problem of cross loadbalancing: it may happen that the developers of a network and are passed to the application of the user networks (which will fail, because address different network).
