Intermittent white screen of OptiPlex 755 SFF on POLE

Hi all, I have a desktop dell optiplex 755 SFF with intermittent white screen when I turn on the PC. Before my problem, I installed the following:

2 x 1 GB of ram (total ram is 4 GB)

Radeon HD 5450 graphics card

TV tuner card

Everything worked well for 1 year with the installed equipment. I then removed the old cpu E2100 and installed an E7500 requiring an update of the BIOS to A21 to recognize the new processor. The PC has worked for about 2 weeks, until these problems occurred.

I use the radeon with a dvi cable graphics card to the monitor.

As already indicated the white screen issue is intermittent, sometimes the screen is detected immediately, sometimes it takes 10 seconds, sometimes up to 1 minute.

If anyone can provide suggestions I would be very happy.

You have a lot of Ram.  No amount of removal and reinstallation will solve the problem.

  • Dell OptiPlex 755 SFF rear disc HARD fan Press F1 CORRECTED an error!

EDIT: Fix for F1 error is on the #2 post. Try only if you know what you are doing and don't mind not having is not a HDD stupid fan. I now only use a SSD and it needs no power noisy fan to waste.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I removed the fan hard drive dying on the Dell Optiplex 755 SFF (fan is built in a hdd cage) and modded the side of the case to include a Yate Loon 120 mm fan. I removed the hard drive in its entirety and then used cage the where the floppy drive has been to place my SSD 256 GB of free space. The system is much more pleasant that way, and now he has place for 120mm fan (already modded).

However, at startup, there is a rear fan error and it asks you to press F1 to continue. It disappears when I connect the old dying noisy fan (has more room for it). Because I don't want the hard drive cage (or his fan also) and I can not put the fan back in, I want to use the connector and the son of the old fan dead and hang it in my nice new Yate Loon, which is the ideal solution for cooling (used as a suction fan).

    The color codes are:

    Yate Loon (D12SL-12): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow = Tach (I think)

Dell drive HARD fan (STROKE BN06015B12H): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow? Blue? (PWM or tachometer)

What are the blue and yellow for the Dell HARD drive fan? Can I just plug the Red of Dells Yates red and black wire on black? This should give me a 12v fan work, however I wonder if the loons Yate flying over red wire could be used for the sensor.

Any help would be great. Really sad that Dell did not include a fan setting ignore in the bios.

    Thank you!

    SkOrPn

EDIT: Ok, Yate Loon do not light up when it is connected to the fan header. What is missing? The old fan of Dell is rated 12v A 0.36 and the YL is 12v 0.30 A, less than the old fan so the fan header would seem like the logical place to get needed power as it provides much. When the old fan is plugged it provides 12v, but does not provide power when Miss the blue and yellow wires?

Edit2: Ok, understood as the Yate Loon uses the Red wire as the 12v fan (somehow, I thought it was yellow). Now, I think that the yellow must be a son of tachometer for rpm. Now I'm wondering if the Dell system can monitor the number of TOWERS to connect the yellow wire without prejudice to the system without the connected blue. In fact, I wonder if the controller monitors just RPM to warn of the fan failure. If so, maybe I can connect the yellow and get rid of this error from the BIOS at startup screen.

    Hello

I've linked yellow pine of wire of the connector of the fan HARD drive on yellow pine of the CPU fan connector and no fan of F1 more at startup error -correction

I have no need for my SSD disk drive hard noisy fan.

  • Card PCI-E graphic for Dell Optiplex 755 SFF

    Hi all

I have an Optiplex 755 SFF 275W PSU and PCI-E video slim with.  Graphics on this series are awful - video DVD playback cannot without jerking.  I spent a few hours trolling on the web trying to determine which video card will work in the 755.  The general consensus of the 'guaranteed' card is the Radeon HD 2400 PRO.  So, I managed to follow a fact (after trying a 5570 & it not even leave the PC start), had shipped here and installed.  To see that it does not too leave the PC startup.  So typical of Dell to make the PC which are incredibly limited.  What is the point of having a PC capable of running Win 7 (will have 8 GB of DDR2 RAM, has currently of 2 GB and currently has a Dual E6550 - core 2.3 Ghz CPU) when he cannot take a card even modestly spec'd?  This is the last time that I buy Dell.

Anyway, having spent the mug shot (ah, much better, thank you)-why the this junky 755 will only take the so-called "guaranteed" HD 2400 PRO?  When I try to start it up, it not this stupid pre-start high ramp / down fans, then turns off, try again, then turns off, then on the 3rd go fans just go hard on & stay like that for as long as I care to leave.  If I take the HD 2400 PRO on & put this stupid DVI adapter card in the PCI-E slot, it's all good.

No changes have been made to the 755 - it's just a standard stock machine.  If for some bizarre reason, all others using the HD 2400 PRO with the 755 SFF tell bald-faced lies (that is, they are not really using a HD 2400 PRO at all), what are the other maps?  I see that the motherboard has "25W" appear next to the slot PCI - E - but the HD 2400 PRO is rated at 25 w max.

Buy the 755 was supposed to be an inexpensive way to make a living desktop PC.  I don't want to lose more money on cards that don't work.  And the HD 2400 PRO was relatively expensive for such an old map, obsolete (crazy NZD$ 42 - when a 5570 is only NZD$ 65).

Any help / constructive suggestions appreciated.

You can change. Click the Green pencil. But I already have to remove both blasphemous words.

I'll buy my first Dell computer, which is a Dell Optiplex 755 Small Form Factor. It has a Core 2 Quad q6600 CPU in it, with 2 GB of ram and a PSU 275w. I have a Nvidia Geforce GT220 video card, which is a low profile video card, it can consume the maximum of 58 W, and this video card requires at least 300 W works without problems. Will it work with this diet?

I'll buy an Ati Radeon HD 2400 XT, because im does not intend to do some games 'hardcore' and other animals, it can be good for my needs.

The 2400XT is very outdated and terribly weak power. You are much better with people like a Sapphire 6450, that can be done for $43 postpaid from Newegg.

  • Video upgrade - business multi-screen on Optiplex 755 MT

    People,

Please, let me share my upgrade of success a good end of the Dell Optiplex 755 MT for multi-monitor lease.

If you are looking to use a great system for companies, but want to add multiple monitors (which is fantastic for productivity), so this solution might be nice for you.  And do graphics multi-monitor solution that works is easy and difficult at the same time!   It's easy if all the material is known to work together!  This note is therefore, on this topic.

    * With the help of ATI over-pants 2450 in 16th housing PCI Express.

    * Four monitors (via VGA or DVI adapters included) OVER the motherboard video still works!

    * Updated the BIOS to the most recent.

    * Note that this card works PCI 2.0, and it works in what is apparently a PCIe 1 location. on the MOBO 755 0 a.  A 2.1 card may not work.

    * This is for businesses and all five monitors work fine now, even with YouTube.  This is not intended as a game environment.

    * There are a few things to try in BIOS in terms of parameters - for a while, there was a mistake of memory and the thing wouldn't start - it took a little time to understand the exact configuration of he.

    * WIndows 7 is the operating system used - and Windows Aero works.

    * I'm not long seen accidents associated with old Jaton NVidia PCI cards that we used previously.

    * The physical slot size are fine.

    * Consumption looks very good.

    * Cost of ITX Canada was about $250 more shipping, tax etc.

    * Here's the Sapphire version of the AMD ATI card, which is very good.

    * The AMD reference number is 100-505531.

Five monitors are not identical (three different geometries and two sellers)

    * Device Manager lists the latest AMD video drivers for this card as installed and work - I am not quite clear if the drivers have been installed from the download, or later.

Actual installation was required for their persistence and a little hairy.  When I reboot, I'll see all noting the exact BIOS settings.

    * The system crashed not once now, in a week of constant availability, including browsers open 20 tablets or more periods and use of the physical memory of 80%.

    * System 6 GB of RAM, running 64-bit and BIOS A22.

    Good luck.

  • Adding a second drive to my Optiplex 755

I bought an Optiplex 755 renovated a few months back that came with a floppy (really?). I decided to add a second drive, so I removed the disk and put a Seagate 750 GB drive in its place. I entered the program installation and active the drive, rebooted, went back into the Setup program to verify that the disc was recognized that it was. BUT now, whenever I restart the machine, I have the black screen with the following text:

Replacing the HARD drive is not valid, continued use can lead to long-term reliability problems HDD please press that F1 in you want to continue.

It also gives me the choice to press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup or on F5 to run tests.

I press F1 and it starts normally.

My question is how or what I do to eliminate this black screen? Because if I restart and let the system is here and waiting forever.

    Thanks for your help.

The DT, SFF, USFF systems REQUIRE specific Western Digital or SAMSUNG drive model. Replacing the HARD drive is not valid is specific to 745 and 755 SFF and ULTRA-COMPACT systems.

The DT, SFF, USFF models will have a thermal message.  The model of the Tower does not care the drive Type.  This is due to "thermal considerations.

Desktop Dell 755 is configured to reject anything but a hard drive Western Digital or Samsung, claiming that it is due to "thermal considerations.  This is for Desktop and SFF and ULTRA-COMPACT models.

  • Problem starting OptiPlex 755 (video)

    Howdy all!

I just got a Dell Optiplex 755 FDF (for someone else).  I installed a Nvidia GeForce 610 graphics card into the PCIe slot.  He started the next time and I was able to install the software and Nvidia drivers.

The PC was behaving strangely since then. Sometimes it will start fine.  Other times it will start only on-screen vBIOS, who manage the Dell splash screen.  It will be so stay on the vBIOS screen and is not engaged in the POST.  The attached screen is what happens when power on and the system is blocked.  I tested the card in another PC for a few days.  More than a dozen of start ups and not get caught once.  I ran with the 755 iGPU at the same time, he started without problem as well, no gluing.

So I know it's a problem between the card and the system.  Just don't know what.  I know the vBIOS map is up to date and am pretty sure that THE system BIOS is updated to version A22.

As this happens randomly, yet often, I am at a loss of what could be a possible cause.  Any suggestions?

(HP 2000 Notebook PC / Windows 8.1, 64-bit) Still white screen, external monitor works fine. What components could be defective? This occurred about six months ago about a week after the expiry of the one year warranty. Nonfortuitous.

    Hello

You confirm this problem is intermittent, and now its working fine, it means that the question would be the display cable. The display cable is loose. Issue can be fixed by rebonding the display cable, if the problem persists then the display cable needs to be replaced.

This is the only reason why I asked you in the previous post if the problem was intermittent or display changed while moving the display cover.

This particular problem has nothing to do with the temperature.

    Hi Rachel

Believe me; It's not easy to provide an exact solution and that's why we need to study a little ;)

If not, try to download and install the latest graphics driver

You second question on the laptop stop problems is known to me. Sometimes it happens on my laptop too. The LTCC is a part of the Norton antivirus application, which is still running in the background of the operating system.
This strange box "close the program" might appear because this context process couldn t be closed automatically and so the operating system can not stop.

Especially the new application installation might help you. But why don't you use Norton Antivirus? What makes the laptop very slow. I have used this app for a long time but now I use the freeware program called Antivir. Its free and in my opinion much better than the Norton Antivirus.
