Internet Explorer continuously unresponsive

I had continuous problems with my windows vista Home PC - Internet Explorer stops responding, I re-set a few different times with only a short period to respond.
What can I do to fix this?
I downloaded the service pack 2 in the time there, but only recently have had this ongoing problem.

  • Windows Update SP1 installed more than 10 times however, it continues to appear in "WINDOWS UPDATE" and impossible to install the SP2 or upgrade to Internet Explorer 9...

    I tried continually to upgrade Internet Explorer 8 for Internet Explorer 9 without success. When I do so it stops the installation and sent me to the site of installation of SP1.     Sarah;

    Your system is infected with a rogue security application.  Use these instructions to remove it:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-Internet-Security-2011

    If you had a legitimate anti-virus installed before McAfee, did you remove it with a removal tool specialized Publisher of this previous anti-virus before installing McAfee?  Inability to completely remove previously installed security real-time applications can cause performance problems, system instability and even reduced the new facilities of security features.

  • If you use Firefox, my financial website continues to check in every time my computer but in Internet Explorer, it does not work. How can I fix?

    To verify my identity, my financial website send me a code to enter when I try to log in the site. This happens with a new computer or if I change browsers. When I use Internet Explorer, I'll do it this time and the site recognizes me for each later in log. With Firefox, I have to ask a code each time to verify who I am and it's frustrating. I don't know why the site don't remember my computer under Firefox, but it will be under Internet Explorer. Firefox is also one of the browsers recommended by the financial institution. I'm guessing there is something in Firefox that I change a lot to avoid this problem, but I don't have any idea.

    • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete the other files of cookies as cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.
