    Hey @dmg1 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that looking for information on upgrading the adapter wireless in your laptop.

The adapter is not plug and play. There is a chance that after the installation of the adapter, Windows will automatically install the drivers if there is a compatible driver available.

In most cases, it is best to download the drivers directly from HP or Intel, although Windows automatically installs. You can download the drivers from HP here: Intel Wireless drivers for Microsoft Windows.

You can buy the adapter directly from HP website the HP part Surfer , or from somewhere like Amazon or eBay. It's as simple as looking for the part number on one of these sites.

I hope these are the answers you are looking for.

  • F2 and F3 brightness keys not working only not on the DM4-3050US laptop

I have a Pavilion DM4-3050US laptop.  The brightness keys don't work at all.  All the other function keys work fine, like F9 and F10 to volume.  I looked long and seriously and tried almost all of the solutions that I found, which it which seemed so promising: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/Brightness-Controls-Stopped-Working-dm4/m-p/....  Nothing works, however.  I won't do a factory reset - no need to reinstall all the software for the brightness.  I also called HP and they offered replace the laptop, but still once, does not only apply to worsening brightness keys.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  It must be some sort of bug that HP is aware, no?

Then work my F2 and F3 keys.   They began to apply when I have connected a Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard to my laptop.  This prompted Win 7/MS update find software for the keyboard that I downloaded and installed.  After the reboot, I discovered that the F2 and F3 keys now dim and brighten up the screen.  I know that this will not work for others, it seems to be related to the installation of the keyboard software, but he has restored somehow keyboard settings that work even if I'm not using the external keyboard.

  • HP Pavilion dm4-2070us - screen is blurred.

The display on this laptop has blur.  It seems that the cables are either shorting out or connections are pulling loose.  The date of manufacture of the laptop seems to be 6/27 and the purchase date was 7/16.  The HP site says that the warranty expired 8/1.  My client brought me this laptop on 8/2 and 8/3 HP today refuses to cover it under warranty.  Technology HP told me on the phone that the guarantee included a period of 2 months and the warranty itself was 12 full months.  If this is the case, how is this not yet in the "grace" of the warranty period.

In the second place.  I was told that default or questions in the field of the hinge are not covered by the warranty?  Is this true and how this is justified.

Finally, someone of experience on this model and what parts might be needed to solve the problem.  Just trying to get more information to determine my cost until I crack open the laptop.

    Best regards

    Tony

Warranty is measured from the date of retail purchase. If the warranty has expired 7/16. What is the problem with the hinges? Maybe a photo? All the parts you need are available on eBay. Issues of the screen could be the Panel or cable, it is difficult to say without achieve and by reviewing the cable to see if it pulled the connection if it is frayed or other damage. The cable is usually not the problem but if there is a bad hinge the chances of a bad cable go way up. In most cases, the problem is the display panel itself. A screen will cost you around $85:

  • Replacement of the frame and hinges - HP Pavilion dm4 laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dm4 laptop of 2.5 years. The first hinged on both sides broke that makes it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. Is there a way I can get/buy replacements before other parts are screwed up.

    Thank you

Yes, I also have this problem (dm4-1050ea).

It all started on February 2015, when my aunt noticedv that my laptop was nt close properly.  It could be be made to do by pressing half upper (screen cut) to the front to the rear of the closure.

The hinges then becomes deective that the screen don't would not SOUPLESE nd would not sit just to the place (angle) you open to.

Following the hinges too stiff beame to exploit, came shortly after the left of the screen/lid and the window broke near the LH hinge (rather than though the bezel as shown in the image above). Then the right hinge broke off, then the screen become deective (mainly a band along the LHS - worked with detached hinges OK))

So, I find myself with computer work, not 100% functional & broken and needs special care to use. the screen does not work in all areas (a replacement looks like £30-$50), with the virtually hanging screen, need to rplace lying hinges (£10-$15) and also nees any other bits (?) and the knowledge to fix it.  HP say they can't stand any more of this model and have no theparts (from end of 2015).

It may be beyond the capacity of an almighty ccompany such as HP to find parts, but it does not seem beyond the my ability to get parts of - maybe-2nd hand - other HP broke! - But what I lak is kno detailed ho a skill to perform any repair.

    Hi @orangeg66,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook and P2PP Burnboot could not install. I have seen that date back to 2012 first of all, and then by a default BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. In this way, it will look at the hardware installed on your laptop. Restore factory default BIOS works on it.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Pavilion dm4-3090se: how to use the SSD after restoration of the system of Windows backup disks?

    Hello

After a lot of work, I finally could restore my OS using Windows backup disks that I created a few years back. (The OS has been corrupted when the power has been accidentally deleted from the system and the battery was dead)

Restoring backup widows put everything on 444 GB C drive.  Nothing I put on the SSD drive d:-20 GB and there is nothing in the tools of HP E: drive - 4 GB

How can I make use of the SSD drive to help speed up the system?  I see the system starts and runs more slowly now.  I'm ready to blow the current operating system and re-run the Windows backup utility.  But I need to know how to use the SSD during the restoration.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bob

    Hey @llebrez,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! This is a great place to find solutions and help our community!

I understand that you have some information about using the SSD in your HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook. I'd be happy to help you with that.

The SSD in your laptop is used for a technology called Intel Smart Response. Intel Smart Response uses the SSD as a type of Cache smart to help load the items faster. The reason why that is not used currently is because the restoration of the system is not designed to use the SSD for intelligent caching and is not able to establish that on its own.

If you want to configure Intelligent caching on your laptop, you can follow this guide provided by overclock.net: how: implement the Intel Smart Response Technology (SSD caching)

I hope this helps. If you have more questions that I'm able to answer for you, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Please hold me.

By pressing the Thumbs Up button below, you can always say thank you!

    See you soon.
