Internet Explorer "not responding".

Hi all! I have a problem with my Acer Aspire 5520 laptop. Every 10 minutes or IE8 then stops working and freezes and says "Windows IE8 is not responding." I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 with 32-bit operating system. I use Norton Security Suite. My processor is an AMD Athlon (TM) 64 X 2 Dual - Core Processor TK-53 1.70 GHZ. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Norton could easily be part of the issue, see the following methods to remove a message

Several troubleshooting methods:

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have
EVER had on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which)
may cause strange problems).

If no joy there's something blocking perhaps.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - IE with no Addons - what works best?

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore, and then click Reset - apply / OK

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - click on reset all default areas - apply / OK

Close and restart IE or IE with no addons

not better?

IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if she's here, it is no longer necessary but Java
installs and it causes more questions - have you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again.) Search
other possible problems.

Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look
right. Allowed are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If doubt about a program
ask about it here.

Could not be a free - SpyBHOremover - BHO - standalone program, needs no installation, download.
unzip and run - all are not bad, but some can cause your question (toolbars are BHO).

    Hi B Bartram,

    Let us try these methods.

    Method 1.

Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Microsoft security scanner: http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning of Security Scanner: there could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

    Method 2.

I suggest that you can exercise SFC scan and check if that helps. The SFC/SCANNOW command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

For more information how to make SFC / scan, please follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    This should solve the problem.

I saw a folder compressed zipped into my new pc windows 8.1 with internet icon on this topic because I have a right click on this folder and open it in a new window, it stops responding. I restart my pc bt it doesnot work, until then when I opened the desktop it shows that file with Explorer zipped folder.

Please tell me its solution and why it happens...

    Hello najoua Kumar,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it all change important before the show?
    2. Do you receive an error message/code when opening that file zipped?
    3. You are connected with an account administrator or standard?

If so what opening zipped folder file explore crashes while there might be a chance that some system files are missing or your computer may be affected by some virus/malware. I suggest you to try the methods provided below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

    Method 1

I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode and see are you able to login in safe mode or not. You can see the article mentioned below to start the computer in safe mode.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/Windows-startup-settings-safe-mode

If your computer works fine in safe mode and it is not get crashed, I suggest you perform the clean boot.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

Note: refer to "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

    Method 2

If the problem persists, I suggest you to check the system files are they work very well or not and to check who are trying to run the (SFC) System File Checker tool.

Scan SFC will be scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows 8.

    1. Press Windows key and X at the same time.

    2. Choose line (Admin) command on the shortcut menu.

    3. At the command prompt, type sfc/scannow and press ENTER.

    4. Exit the command prompt.

For more information, refer to this link:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Method 3

I suggest you to run security software and check if your system is affected by viruses.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner free is a downloadable security tool that allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Ultimate Windows: Explorer not responding

Windows Ultimate: Lately, every time that I right click a folder or a file in a folder, it takes between 12 to 15 seconds to respond with my options (Explorer copy, delete etc...). It is used to respond instantly. What can I do? Thank you

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

Method 1: Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_file_and_folder_diag/

    Method 2:

Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click on start toreduce this top that i, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

    (b) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (c) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

    Method 3:

Also scan your computer from the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Hope this information is useful.
