Internet host and network disconnection continuous

Background: A contractor for the cable company spliced my line so that the new neighbor could get cable (only my address has been marked on the box and there was a cord connecting it under their fence). I called and they sent someone who said they would get someone else to fix it. Since my internet disconnects all day and all night. I called the cable company and finished by somebody who had a sense and really tried to help him. He created my own network and pass the word. My internet was faster than it had ever been perfect. However a few hours later he did the same thing again and kept 3.5 MONTHS later.

Technology had said that he could see that one of my neighbors was using a ham radio and radio which created a 'shield' on all the networks and could see that my neighborhood was having the same problems. I asked why they weren't Campeau in-not of true response. I called so many times I can't remember how many, and even a technician had come out and change my modem. When he had it ready to go he said that he did not work well.

Whenever I call it they say that the 'Nice' tech has no idea what he's talking about and that it is impossible to block someones internet.

Can someone help me?

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly, you can not access the internet as network keeps disconnecting. We appreciate your patience and your efforts.

  1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
  2. What is the full error message that you receive when you try to access any Web site?
  3. As you informed 'could see that my neighborhood was having the same problems.', others also face the same question again?

Try to run the network troubleshooter utility and other steps in the link below.

Why can't I connect to the Internet? :

I hope this helps to solve the issue. If the problem persists, get back to us. We will be happy to help you.

Is someone can you please tell me what is the right way to create a virtual machine with the host only networking and a static IP address?

What should be the range of IP addresses for the host only one virtual computer?

    Thank you.

    fernandoch wrote:

OK well with that. But how do I access the virtual machine with an IP 192.168.1.101 host if it uses a briged network and I can not access the same virtual machine (with IP address

192.168.1.101) so it uses only network host?

The subnet of the host is only 192.168.50.0

Because it seems that you use wrong IP address in your comments.

Each IP network needs its own subnet address. This means that the physical and virtual network who need different IP subnet addresses. This is the case with your installation and that's right.

If you move the mode prompt "bridged" with IP subnet address 192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.50.0/24 the guest needs an IP address in this range. Either set it to DHCP and if you have not changed the default settings in VMware it will receive a correct IP address automatically configuration or set the IP address manually, for example 192.168.50.10 (and if this address is still available). Furthermore, if you set the DHCP client and if you have a DHCP server on the local network physical prompt always gets the right to installation when you mofve it from one network to the other.

  • Windows Microsoft Update KB 2509553 internet blocking and Remote Desktop connection.

My computer is a client on a small business network.  Windows updates are made automatically from a server and deported to the customers.

  • Configure the host and the VM on two separate wireless networks

Hello community, I was a browser for a long time, but this will be my first post.

I would like to begin by saying that I have always found the answer I was looking for by browsing these forums and that I browsed discussions thereon and consulted the chapters regarding virtual networks in the manual workstation 7.1, but at this stage were still unable to solve my problem.

    The scenario:

I'm a small business working in a House (upstairs) / hookah lounge (bottom). We recently had a second internet connection (WORK), Internet home of my family (HOME), to provide our customers with a free wi - fi. I would use the connection of WORK (during our hours of downtime) in a Ubuntu VM for folding and seeding of torrents. I want to put this far on a network traffic will not affect the other.

    The network:

SE host: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

(Host) NIC: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (Mini PCI)

VM: Ubuntu 10.04 on VMWare Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739

    NIC (VM): Alfa awus036h (USB)

    The current configuration:

Network connection is made, the State of replication physical physical network is unchecked.

The Alfa is connected to the virtual machine and is no longer present on the list of the network adapters in Windows.

It seems that I have to manually disable the "auto eth 1" interface or the virtual machine using the internet connection in host rather than the network of your choice that the Alfa connects to in VMWorkstation. The speed of the internet with eth auto 1 is connected is quick and consistent, but using it defeats the purpose. Strangely, when I go to network connections, under the "last use" for "eth 1 auto ' it is said 'never '.

When "eth 1 car" is disconnected, it seems that the virtual machine uses the network wireless connected to the Alfa. But the internet speed is very slow and inconsistent. On downloads, the speed varies considerably; Also, it remains at 0 kb/s for a while before going to 80 KB/s, then works his way down to 0 kb/s again.

    Possible solutions:

    1. it's a driver problem for the Alfa inside the VM environment all this time?

2 just misunderstood how to set up this kind of virtual network?

3 is it possible to get the desired configuration by filling the WORK and VMnet0/1/8?

    * Note: Only VMnet1 and VMnet8 appear on the Windows network connections, however isn't VMnet0 bridged one responsible for networking?

    4. upgrade to the current version of the desktop would be useful?

    5. do this problem originally because of some settings on the router?

    * Note: The AP is close enough to provide a signal strength of 85-90%

Sorry to be so talkative, I just wanted to be as clear as possible because I'm still a beginner to learn more about virtualization.

Thank you in advance, as always, your help is greatly appreciated.

First of all, I must say that when I did this last response, I've been on my Mac and I thought the configuration of a host of Windows XP however outside the nomenclature of the names of the host network settings dialog box the rest stands as it is on a host Windows 7 as described below, including a picture as an attachment.

On a Windows 7 x 64 host with two network adapters, each on a different subnet and VMware Workstation 7.1.3 installed with the editor of virtual computer network configured for VMnet0 and VMnet2 jumpered separately to one of the host of NIC and I have not changed the settings for Windows 7 host NIC-1 and have network/Internet connectivity to the host of this NETWORK adapter as shown in the picture of Google in Internet Explorer on the host computer.  In VMware Workstation 7.1.3 I have a Linux Guest configured to use VMnet2, which is filled in the settings and the Windows 7 host NIC-2 have all with the exception of VMware Bridge Protocol unchecked and have network/Internet connectivity in the guest as indicated by Google in a browser.

From the perspective of connectivity network between the host and the guest by NIC - 2 on the host computer when all with the exception of VMware Bridge Protocol unchecked there is no connectivity between the two on this subnet because there are no protocol at stake to allow the conversation to take place.

So theoretically and in practice what I said previously, but didn't were not expressly with a Windows 7 host in mind, nevertheless what I said is true and accurate, as evidenced by world real test/use by what I said and with the image attached herein.

FWIW Windows 7 has been configured with the default settings and the only changes to the host's network were those made during the installation of VMware Workstation 7.1.3 so with the configuration I discussed with the attached picture, there is no reason why the host and the guest cannot be on different physical networks and each network/Internet connectivity based on the information I have provided and they be isolated from each other by being on separate physical networks.

That said, even if they can be isolated by being on separate physical networks can still can connectivity between the 2 through VMware shared folders it it turned on and of course & slide and other services so if absolute isolation is necessary to the point where it can be, and the guest still operating system run on a Virtual Machine in the host you would need to disable the Backdoor for VMware Tools cannot provide shared folders on VMware, & glide and other services.  So if you need this isolation level let me know and I will provide additional information to complete it.

  • When you transfer files to the internet, the router disconnects from the internet, but the network remains in tact.

I have a wireless router Belkin g with 1 Server 2003 cable and 2 xp machines and 1 machine vista wireless. My problem is when you transfer files to the internet, the router disconnects from the internet, but the network remains intact. I cannot remote in all computers, but not internet. Once I have restart the router, everything works fine. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how to fix them.

original title: problems with the router.

I have no solution for you.  It seems more likely to me that it is a hardware problem - but if it was related to traffic, I would expect that the problem on the downloads more downloads.

In addition to DSL reports, you could try to ask some of the forums that specialize in the updated firmware for wireless routers.  This is not to say that you need to install the modified firmware (although there may be good reasons to do so), but people who do usually firmware mods are much how the equipment works and what might be its potential failure modes.

Is one of the best-known sites DD-WRT.com, but there is one list of other here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wireless_router_firmware_projects the firmware on these sites was originally designed to run on Modem Linksys WRT54G, but applies generally to Linux with chips Broadcom - based wireless routers and DD - WRT claims that its firmware takes care of some Belkin routers.  If your router is one of those on what DD - WRT will work, there will probably be someone in the forum there will have something for you.  See the list here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

  • Network discovery, file sharing settings keep changing by itself and Alltel to set the network location continues to ask the wireless device

former title: network location settings. Discovery of NW. File sharing. public folder sharing. AVG 9.0 'tools' and network connections.

My Alltel Wireless device again set the network location. And continues to change my network settings for the discovery of NW to:, as well as file sharing for: file public and sharing: read-only.  I have AVG Security 9.0 and under 'tools' and connections network shows several svchost with States reading service connections listening and unknown. I don't want no access to my computer and cannot find any computer consultants who can get this to stop. What can I do?

    Hello

    1. the options apply automatically on?
    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
    3. have you installed any Alltel Wireless application to manage network connections?
    4. What is the current network location type on? Is it home, work or public?
Network discovery and file sharing settings depend on the network location. For examle, if you set the network as a public location it turn on file sharing.  So I would ask you to turn all the parameters and then choose the type of network and check if the parameters change again.

    Method 1.
I recommend you to check if the problem exists in clean boot. May be a third party application is causing these changes.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2.
Also check the settings under tools in AVG security suite. You may need to check with the help of AVG on it.
Or you can disable the antivirus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to access internet when the network is put in host-only mode

    I'm using workstation 6.5 version.

I need to know if I change the network configuration of host-only bridge then what will be required on a virtual computer to access internet from VM parameters?

If this is not possible using host only then there at - it an alternative for the same?

Connect NAT instead of guest only network. Your virtual machine should now be assigned a local IP address of the NAT internal dhcp server.

You can also connect to the Internet through this network and also your virtual machine will talk to the host on a private network.

  • Host and guest of the machines on different physical networks

Hello everyone.  I would wise advice from the forum, about a particular environment, I am trying to set up.

I have VMware Server 2 installed on my XP laptop, which is connected to a DSL modem via a NIC edge portable said has also a PCMCIA NETWORK card installed in it.

I would like to take a virtual XP workstation and connect to a modem cable via the PCMCIA NIC for test connection hosts and guests safe through the public internet.  For this exercise, I need two machines to be completely separate and therefore have no way to reach or in interaction with each other anyway, except through the extended link.

What follows is a list of what I've done so far.  I would like to know if there is anything I missed.  Perhaps more measures must be taken that I'm not aware of.

Thanks in advance for your collective time.

    (1) disabled all services associated with the PCMCIA NIC on the host computer, including TCP/IP, except the VMware Bridge Protocol.

    2) welded by the mentioned back PCMCIA NIC to VMnet2 via VMware Virtual Network Editor.

    (3) excluded the NETWORK PCMCIA card automatic connection via the virtual network Editor.

    (4) set up the virtual ethernet device of the instance XP comments use the custom VMnet2 network.

    (5) set the property 'NetworkAddress' of the network connection in the case of XP from comments to the MAC address of the PCMCIA NIC by step seven of the next mission - http://communities.vmware.com/message/378576;jsessionid=034FC6E865C0DB28AD269D7445F2AD0D

PS - How could these measures differ for a guest computer to Linux (openSUSE 11), especially step 5 in my list above?

    Welcome to the forums!

IMHO, I think you have done all that was required. I don't know why your step 5 is necessary or if it will be same cause problem. "Bridged" means that the customer acts as its own instance on the network, which includes a discreet addresses MAC and IP, from my point of view. Affecting the MAC guest host MAC is not necessary for the connection of standard bridge, so why if it is necessary here? In addition, you can set any MAC address that you like for a VMware guest. There are restrictions, once again setting the host MAC address in the guest can cause problems.

You can find the VMware documentation on how to do it here: Page 240, http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vmserver2.pdf

There is also something on definition of MAC addresses: Page 234

  • Unable to connect to the internet with the NETWORK card and Windows Millennium Edition.

    Hello

I turned on my old computer yesterday, who has installed Windows Millennium Edition. At the back of the computer is an Ethernet port which is marked as LIEN ACT. The NIC with this port is Realtek 8139 PCI Fast Internet Adapter. I spend two hours on the Internet configuration and I did and finally got connected, but then, a few hours after, something went wrong and the Internet and the NETWORK card has stopped working! And the card has disappeared from the Device Manager, but he's still showing in network in Control Panel. I opened the computer and I reconnected it to the slot, but it did not help. At the back of the computer next to this port are two LEDs - green indicates the power that lights up when I plug the Internet cable and the other orange indicates actual connection. But now these two LEDs are not indicating something even when I plugged in the cable to the Internet, which comes from my router. In the computer a Dial Up connection PCI is installed too, but I disabled it. I used Dial-Up in 2002. So, I need help.
But I know that I can connect with this Ethernet card to the Internet because it worked for 3 hours, I've loaded the pages and downloaded programs.
Please don't point, should I upgrade Windows!
    Thank you.
