inventory fails on all hosts reason markup in the rest of the document, the root element must be well-formed

Ver 2.1 of openmanage for vcenter and applied performance updates firmware on 7 servers in a pile of VMware. Inventory fails on all servers failed to get inventory OMSA. I run the wizard of noncompliant servers of correction and completed journal shows, the server restarts, saves the show from inventory, inventory failed and could not obtain iDRAC ip address during startup. If I try to run upon request I get huh markup should be well formed message.

What I've done and how to fix it?

Hello

the Dell Support told me last Tuesday that there is a new KB 2077641 patch and a patch (5.1 ESXi) VMware for IMO 2.1.23 to 2.1.0.27 unit.

I installed the patches Friday and now it seems that everything works fine.

  • Integration of OM for task inventory vCenter fails for a host

    Hello.

I've updated my plugin for integration of OM to 1.7 2.0. I have three hosts 5.5 ESXi and vCenter 5.5 device.

The analysis of the inventory on one of these three hosts fails. I did the changes on the hosts and the inventory, used to work for guests when I used the plugin version 1.7. During testing of connection profile I get not all errors and information iDRAC identification and credentials to the host with green checkmarks on all hosts, including the one who gets the failure of the inventory scanning.

When you look at the newspapers I see a lot of security-messages and then "cannot get an IP iDRAC for host {0}" and "failure of the inventory for host 1 of 3".

    Any suggestions?

Because we support 5.5 with 1.7 install it must have been new for the hosts and vCenter.    OMSA can sometimes get messed up during upgrades. Is "host1.exampl.com" the real hostname of your machine "host1"?  Or you made that blur in your ad - thing quite legitimate to do this for security reasons.

Whatever, this is not really a matter of tns, unless of course 'host1.example.com' is really what you put in the tnsnames file, but your server "host1" became really something else.

Assuming that 'host1.example.com' is the correct value, debugging starts with the following:

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ ping host1.example.com

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ tracerout host1.example.com

OK, so you have a software firewall (IPTables) running.  By default, it will not be configured to accept connections on port 1521.  You have two options...

    (1) disable the firewall completely.  Run these commands to do this...

    stop /etc/init.d/iptables

    chkconfig iptables off

The first command stops the service.  The second command prevents revived at every restart of the OS.

    (2) add an exception to the firewall for port 1521.  I'm not a Linux expert, but it should be something like this...

Change the configuration of IPTables with vi...

    VI/etc/sysconfig/iptables

Add a new rule as follows...

-A of ENTRY m state - state NEW-m tcp tcp - dport 1521-j ACCEPT Pei

Save and close, and then restart the IPTables service...

    /etc/init.d/iptables restart

NOTE: you must always change the name of this server to something other than "localhost".

  • vMotion fails at 9% - Source host cannot connect to the destination host

    Hello

I wonder if someone could shine any light on why vmotion fails to occur between an ESXi host who has just been restarted, in order to test HA. I have the following configuration:

    3 x ESXi5 DL360 G7s with two 4-way NIC

    VSphere Vcenter 5

1 x cluster configured for DRS HA

    2 x Procurve 2910 - 24G

The switches are not connected to each other.

Both switches are configured as such:

    1894901.png

All ports are not marked. NO PLEASE, no routing

Each host vMotion vSwitch is connected to two switches by 1 x 1 GB nic

I configured a vswitch on each host of vMotion. There are two ports vmkernel with two IPS on the same subnet. There are two vmnic attached to the vSwitch. On each port, a Vmic is configured to be active while the other is unused. I enabled frames on the vSwitch and 2910 switches. A VLAN has been configured on the two predisposees 2910 for vmotion with frames and defined traffic on "no label". I can successfully vmkping all the ip s vmotion on all ESXi hosts. However, when I test HA by stopping an ESXi host, when I restart the ESXi host I am unable to vmotion in that ESXi host. When I test vmkping I find that the host rebooted can only vmkping itself and no other host can vmkping it. Vmotion attempt fails on 9% and errors with the source host cannot connect to the destination host. If I restart the two switches of 2910 I can then perform a vMotion and the vmkping is a success.

    Help, please?

    Thank you

I have since read up on the various load balancing options and find that your method is preferable during the method of "ip hash.

I'll make the change to "port based" and link the two switches

Hello Simon, I think it's a good option to do, since the hash IP load balancing is a bit special and really requires both interfaces to connect to the same physical switch, which must also have a specific configuration. If you like the results after the new changes.

  • How to remove all hosts made by an administrator of vmware?

I uninstalled vmware cartridges and it seems that vmware in Data Management data are indeed missing, but what I do on all hosts that he brought in the infrastructure?  I need to remove them and doing by hand of data management would take a very long time.  Is there a better way to clean anything that exerted vmware agent?

    Hello

There might be another solution, I am interested as well. I probably ran the script of

    https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?ID=SOL62094&PR=Foglight

get rid of the stale data (these pieces of Infrastructure now not monitored). It really should be part of the toolset of all those who are serious about maintaining data anyway.

fglcmd. (sh | beats)-usr (user login) - pwd (password) - port (port) - srv (server) - cmd script: run f C:\delete-stale-objects host 5

(remove all hosts that have not been updated for 5 days)

I guess you try to access hosts in 192.168.5.0/24, and these default hosts is the PIX inside interface 192.168.5.1?

How you try to access these internal hosts? If you try to ping the hosts, please please make sure there is no personal firewall enabled inside welcomes as personal firewall normally doesn't allow incoming connections from different subnet ip address.

  • all hosts on the same page

    Hello

on 5.6.4 I created a report of active host summary.

I have four monitored servers. Then I have 4 pages. A host by page.

Can I have all on the same page?

I mean a single page for 4 guests.

    How?

    Thank you.

The report of "Hosts" of the cartridge of the infrastructure, or other reports host designed for this purpose, is the best way to present all hosts on a single page.

This is the PDF of the report "Hosts": exit
