IPS smartnet

Hello

I have two IPS devices. I use only a (second I like cold backup). If I want to smartnet that one purchase for my active IPS device will not be possilbe if my active IPS crashes to move my smartnet account to my backup IPS device?

Thanks in advance

No, unfortunately Smartnet contract links with the serial number of the device of the IPS, and you cannot move the Smartnet from one device to the other.

    Hello world

I want to know if it is possible for my company to get a contract for our modules NME - IPS smartnet directly without a cisco partner? and if yes how can we precede?

    Thank you

Not that I know of. No matter where you go, you will find a partner/reseller of certain level. What difference does anyway?

  • Get a Smartnet contract also gives you updated signature IDS/IPS?

One of my clients is looking into getting an ASA5510 with module AIP - SSM. I realize that with IDS/IPS systems, it is * essential * to keep files up-to-date signatures. Buying me the Smartnet contract for the bundle gives updates signature files, or is there another package that I need to buy?

I see references to the "Cisco Services for IPS", but this seems to be mainly for routers/IOS firewall/IDS packages.

There is not a Smartnet contract for the ASA/AIP-SSM bundle.

The only contract SmartNET SSM packages with the CSC - SSM and not the AIP - SSM.

When buying a bundle ASA/AIP-SSM, you'll need to buy a package maintenance contract. Package maintenance contracts are Cisco Service for the IPS markets and include the support of signature for the AIP - SSM and the software and hardware in support of ASA and AIP - SSM (software and hardware support, is what it is normally part of SmartNET).

Packages you will need to purchase a maintenance contract Service Cisco IPS using one of the formats following part numbers:

    CON-SUw-ASxAyKz

The 'w' will be 1,2,3 or 4 depending on the level of service.

The 'x' will be either 1 for the 5510, 2 for the 5520 or 4 for the 5540.

    'Y' will be 10 for the AIP-SSM-10 or 20 for the AIP-SSM-20.

The z will be 8 or 9 depending on the level of encryption.

    Thus, for example:

    CON-SU2-AS2A20K9 - would be 8 X 5 X 4 support for the ASA 5520 bundled with the AIP-SSM-20 with the top encryption.

NOTE: There is also SP contracts for purchase by service providers who follow a slightly different format.

There are a few users who have purchased the ASA and the AIP - SSM separately.

When purcahsed separately you would need to purchase a contract SmartNET for the ASA and a separate Department of Cisco for IPS for the AIP - SSM maintenance contract.

Maintenane AIP - SSM contract will be in the following format:

    CON-SUw-ASIPyK9

The 'w' will be 1,2,3 or 4 depending on the level of service.

    'Y' will be 10 for the AIP-SSM-10 or 20 for the AIP-SSM-20.

    Thus, for example:

    CON-SU2-ASIP20K9 would be 8 X 5 X 4 support for the AIP-SSM-20.

What you find is that buying a separate SmartNET for the ASA and Service Cisco IPS for the AIP - SSM will be more expensive than buying a single Cisco IPS's Service to the ASA/AIP-SSM bundle. This is because there is a discount when buying by the beam.

  • Logging in on a 5525 ASA IPS module

    Hi all

Quick question here. I have a new ASA 5525 - X with IPS module.

The PPE must be configured as an ID and told me that without fire view management controller, we can apply a license.

I have also told me that with the 5525, we cannot install log in module to install the licenses. Please can someone confirm if I can install the licenses for the module? If so, how can I connect to the IDS to implement? Is this possible at all?

    Kind regards

    Riou

That you listed is the legacy model, which is the end of the sale April 26, 2015. See this notice.

They have their own Start Guide quick here.

For these former IPS modules, you do not have licenses. Instead, your Smartnet must be the right kind of contract that includes coverage of subscription for the IPS signature updates.

Legacy devices management IPS is via ASDM/IDM or, for slightly better visibility, through IPS Manager Express (IME). (There is also the option of Cisco Security Manager for the largest deployments).

Signature update and software updates for older IPS modules can be done manually or automatically (assuming that you have a valid support contract, which includes the right of the subscription). Instructions for that are here.

  • SMARTnet include the update of GIS?

    Hi all!

I buy CISCO 3845 with Intrusion Detection System Module and SMARTnet Network.

Can I take the signature updates or I have to get an additional contract for updates?

    Hello

You will need to buy a contract of "services for IPS" to allow you to get updates of the signature.

The following link has the details:

    http://www.Cisco.com/application/PDF/en/us/guest/products/ps6076/c1592/cdccont_0900aecd8022e962.PDF

Once you have purchased the contract that you should save the serial number of the module and then you will be able to get updates.

You can always get a trial license 30 days pending...

  • Cisco IPS

    Hi all

Take over some jobs maitainence on IPS and it then, I need help!

ASA5510-AIP10-K9 with license expires a year. Motor still works well but no update of the signature.

    Question 1

What is the SKU for license renewal? can you please paste the URL linked here?

    Question 2

The IPS engine is version 6,0000 E4. Intend to upradge to 8,0000 E4 version.

What is the propper upgrade path? Should I start by 7.0000 E4, then followed by 8,0000 E4

or 7.0 (8) E4 patches are cumulative, so only need to apply the latest version?

    Question 3

This is the little piece of capture "display version":

Using 1032495104 bytes of available memory (65% of use) 675745792

system is using 17.4 M 38.5 m bytes of disk space available (45% of use)

application data using 48.4 M off 166,6 M bytes of disk space available (31% of use)

startup is using 45.6 M 68.5 m bytes of disk space available (70% of use)

Application log using 123.5 M off 513,0 M bytes of disk space available (24% of use)

The upgrade of the motor system will cause the IPS running out of space? I focus on the second statement.

    Millions of thanks to all

    Noel

1 as described in this document, you must have the support of IPS for your ASA - this is a service contract that includes the ASA equipment and software SMARTnet until updates of signature and software IPS. more commonly classified in support is "AR NBD" (Advance replacement the next day) and Cisco SKU CON-SU1-AS1A10K9.

    2. I think 7.0000 that e4 is the current version. You can upgrade to that (or 7.0 (8) E4) directly from your current version. Please see the readme file.

    3. your available space should be fine.

  • without the license key can we get all the features of the ips

Hi all I have a sensor ips 4215. I don't have the installed license key is to have the 5.0.1 image inside. Thus, it comes with the default signature. I want to know I will get all the features of IP 4215 even without the license key. can u pls someone help me with that.

    concerning

    Assane

Yes, you will get all the features of IPS sensor - its fully functional devices, you don't only have latest signatures (against the latest attacks - but anyway IPS uses also heuristic analysis to detect attacks)... and 5.0.1 contains a lot of signatures in order to have the right IPS device

Signatures can be downloaded from EAC, if you smartnet - location even agreement as with IOS... :))

  • Cisco IOS IPS in router 2921/k9

    Hi all

I have a router from Cisco 2921 box database (error C2921/K9) series with BAse IP IOS (IOS SL-29-IPB-K9) image. I want to activate the function of IOS IPS level on this router now. Based on the Cisco Document, I found that I need to purchase a license additional subscripton enale the IPS feature. My querry is-

It will build on the IOS for basic IP base or do I have to change the IOS?

If I need to buy the Licesne subscription, how can I get the part number and the cost for the same thing?

Do I need to purchase any additional module for this as (NME-IPS-K9)?

Thanks in advance for your quick help

    concerning

    Sunny

    Hi Sunny,

You do not need a module (however you might install a module instead function in IOS IPS).

    You need 2 licenses:

1 - a 'security' for your 2921 license enable the IPS feature:

    SL-29-SEC-K9

License security (paper) for Cisco 2901-2951 (the two system & spare)

(if you don't have a router, but you can order it with the license as a Pack: CISCO2921-SEC/K9)

2 - a signature subscription license, which is part of a contract of "services to SPI.

A "services for IPS" is essentially a SmartNet contract (including the replacement of equipment, to the TAC, etc) more access to the update of the signature.

SKU for that start with CON-SU or CON - SUO and depends on what level of service for the replacement of HW, and if you want a replacement service on the spot.

    for example CON - SU1 - 2921SEC - this includes a SMARTnet agreement with 8x5xNBD without on-site intervention

  • Subscription to ASA IPS Signature

    I'm a little confused...

If I have an ASA5510 bundle with an AIP-SSM-10 and contracts CON-SU2-AS1A1PK9, which includes also updates the signature 'Service for Cisco IPS'. I can not work if I have to then release another subscription and what is the code of the component. Thank you.

    Hello

I found this link on Cisco's Web site:

    Q. can I both SMARTnet and Services Cisco IPS to receive comprehensive support and signature updates?
    A. No. ' Cisco Services for IPS "is a program of support for all Cisco solutions, intrusion prevention functionality. It combines features of support SMARTnet with IPS signature, updates by creating a support program full.
So that would lead me to think that it is all inclusive.
Based on the attached PDF document, "CON-SU2-AS1A1PK9" seems to be a valid number for the AIP-SSM-10 for the ASA5510.  Have you received a PAK
to purchase?  You are able to enter the PAK to www.cisco.com/go/license?  You then receive an activation key for the AIP - SSM?

But looking at the Cisco Feature Navigator I see that it says additional license required: update IOS IPS.

So do I really need another license to set up and use IPS?

If so, how can I get this license?

    Kind regards

IPS subscription can normally speaking to the dealer, similar to the way you normally buy Smartnet contract.

  • Issue of license IPS

    Hey,.

I have a 881 Cisco I would update the IPS Signatures on. I have a standard contract of SMARTNET 8 x 5 for it, so I'm able to download IOS updates etc. Do I need a special assistance to access the signatures contract updated EAR or I'll be good to go with what I already have?

    Thank you.

To update of the signature of the IPS, you must purchase the IPS subscription license. The Smartnet you only allows you to update the software, not the signature.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • IPS-4240 Sig Update License

Is this not the right part. the update of the GIS 4240 IPS license?  CON-SUSA-IPS4240S

I can only find this part number in the ordering tool: CON-SUI-IPS4240, which also has a SMARTNet Support?

What is do we need just to have updates of GIS?

    Thank you

You cannot buy a stand-alone appliance IPS IPS subscription.

You can buy either of the following:

    (1) CON-SUI-IPS4240 for example which includes Smartnet for hardware, software, and the IPS subscription.

    OR /.

    (2) CON-SUSA-IPS4240 contracts are sold only to customers who have purchased a support hardware and software through a reseller/partner contract.

CON-SUSA... cannot be sold on its own, it must be sold in conjunction with the reseller/partner support contract.

    Hope that helps.

  • IPS Maintenance contract

    Hello

You want to know what I can do to get a contract for maintenance of IPS.

    Thank you

    Hello

There are two support contracts you may have:

    1. hardware (shared support or smartnet, depending on the type of partner)

    2. signature update license

In order to have the license for the updates of the signature, you must also buy a hardware support. License cannot last longer than material support.

    Kind regards

  • AIP license updates if you Smartnet services

    Hello

I have a few AIPs currently under services SmartNet AIPs no giving expiry lic as seen in attached info yellow alerts, we just renew your service agreement, it is of would put the current ICA on these automatically up-to-date with respect to the renewal of the process when clears or these required download new manual lic Cisco and go through the process of manual update of licenses on each device.

Hoping the current ICA will automatically rollover, someone would confirm, otherwise.

    Concerning

Licenses not auto updated, but the process is simple with IME failry.

Once you have purchased the renewals of service contract you can use IME to get a new license for each cisco.com sensor.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/IPS/7.1/Configuration/Guide/IME/ime_sensor_management.html#wp2117313

Do the instructions in this link for each sensor with a new contract of service (use the Cisco.com button in step 3).

  • IPS Signature license

    Dear,

I would like to know if we have the Cisco ASA smartnet with module AIP - SSM, cisco is also includes signature IPS with the smartnet license or is it separately, to buy?

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Jvalin

IPS signature license must be purchased separately. SMARTnet covers only the material and also download the IPS software, more support of TAC.
