IPv6 anycast addresses

What are the IPv6 anycast addresses using the?, they are a kind of diffusion?

I have a 2811 router I am ipv6 configuration, do I have to use these addresses?

I appreciate all help.

Good afternoon mora of isaac

They are not broadcast addressing, anycast is a network addressing and routing methodology in which datagrams to a single sender are routed to the nearest node (such a domainwww.cisco.com¨) in a group of all potential receptors identified by the same destination address.

You configure this feature, just set up the ipv6 unicast addresses,

Best regards and have a nice day

  • LRT214 IPv6 DHCPv6

    Hello

I recently bought this new router and when my main PC is assinged an IPv6 address, it only uses one of RADVD. Is it possible to disable RADVD and use DHCPv6 only? When I tried to use DHCPv6 only, it does not provide the gateway address and therefore it cannot be routed over the internet. Ive also tried RADVD with active M flag, but he always uses the RADVD address.

Thanks for the posts. I am very glad that TWC IPv6 working on the LRT. I had some concerns, that I discussed with Linksys engineering regarding IPv6 LRT quite some time and it seems that those who have been resolved.

This problem can be Windows associates see the link below:

  • inter esxi host ipv6 multicast traffic are not detected by the destination VM

    Hello

Warning, I do not have in-depth knowledge of vmware, so please excuse the bad wording, misconception and ignorance in the post below.

    The current topology is:

    esxi network.png

Each esxi 4.1 update 3 (DL380 G8) host is to connect both layer 2 switch.

on each host, the vswitch has two network cards configured as active/active, with the default NIC cluster approach (route based on the original virtual port code).

    Everything else is default.

The switches are connected by a link to trunk (not bunk)

I have two Windows Server 2008 R2 VM in the same subnet and you have enabled ipv6 on them (by default)

When two virtual machines are on the same physical host, ping-6 destination_ipv6_address works (I just use the link local address)

When two virtual machines are on different hosts, ping fails with the "destination unreachable" message, which usually means the neighbor discovery process fails (similar to arp in ipv4 where source VM cannot get mac address of the destination virtual machine)

When two virtual machines are on the same physical host, the the packet capture shows that Neighbor Solicitation message is sent via an ipv6 multicast address

When they are not on the same physical hosts, packet capture on the VM shows that the destination virtual machine will ever get the destination ipv6 multicast packets.

I then connect two DL380 G8 in a similar way to the switches and install windows Server2008 R2 directly without virtualization on them and ping-6 works perfectly.

    My questions are:

-I missed somewhere, a configuration to allow ipv6 multicast to work? Or even to remove any 'logic' and treat it simply as a show?

On network switches, you can do this by disabling IGMP who will then deal with multicast as broadcast packets.

Although I can't find a similar setting under esxi anywhere.

-J' saw an option "Enable ipv6" on esxi, but I guess it's only useful if the host itself to participate in ipv6 and therefore not applicable to my case?

The only similar question I found the research is on the link below, which suggest to hardcode the next table on virtual machines, which is not ideal.

I can confirm however, hard coding the table nearby on two virtual machines to work. This problem seems to be on how esxi vswitches manage ipv6 multicast traffic

    ESX4 and multicast

Ideas, points of view are very appreciated

I don't know if this will really solve your problem, but it is worth trying to update the firmware of the NETWORK adapter and the driver.

Looks like it's a HP NC 331FLR NIC (gen8 DL by default NETWORK 4 ports with the BCM5719 chip card).

There is no binary updates that you can run from the 4.1, but you can update all the components of the firmware with the current Service Pack HP for Proliant image:

    HP Service Pack for ProLiant

Or start the server in a live Linux of your choice and use the Linux binary update:

    http://www.HP.com/swpublishing/MTX-ec0e18db6a8e4d978b57aa95d1

These will update the NIC 331FLR to the Boot Code version 1.37/NCSI 1.2.37.

Then update the tg3 driver in ESXi with this set to 3.129d.v40.1 offline:

    https://my.VMware.com/group/VMware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESXI4X-Broadcom-TG3-3129DV401&ProductID=136

You need the file bundle offline (BCM - tg3 - 3.129d.v40.1 - offline_bundle - 1033618.zip) in this package. You can import in the vCenter update manager for easier deployment or install it (probably) ESXi shell with esxupdate--bundle=/tmp/BCM-tg3-3.129d.v40.1-offline_bundle-1033618.zip

I'm a little rusty in the Department of ESXi 4.1 CLI however, you may need to use the vihostupdate utility or with PowerCLI Install-VMHostPatch remote:

    https://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-4-ESX-vCenter/index.jsp?topic=/com.VMware.vSphere.upgrade.doc_41/esx_upgrade/patches_updates/t_host_upgrade_using_vihostupdate_esxi.html

  • Cannot find NI0DAQmx devices on the network. Test Panel button grey

    Hello

I have a Dell than T710 Win Server 2008 R2 64-bit. NidaqMX 9.3 is installed. The dialog box search for network OR-DAQmx devices cannot find my NI ENET-9163 carrier with a card NI 9215. This card has a static IP address in the same subnet as the LAN of the PC port. I ping the device.

However in the search network OR-DAQmx devices dialogue box I can add the Board manually by specifying the IP address. This seems to half work as long as it saves the map MAX, but the test panels button is grayed.

I installed Nidaq MX 9.3 on my win 7 64 bit laptop and I can find the card properly and test it. Clearly there is something wrong with the config on the Dell software, but I have no idea what. Any help is appreciated. I stumbled on, IP addresses etc. I also disabled the 3 other network ports on the Dell server in case that is the question.

    Thank you

    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,.

I could do some tests on our Windows 2008 R2 server. I was able to replicate this but not as easily as you did. We have 2 network adapters on that server. We have solved this problem is to do the following:

    1. disable IPv6 IP addressing all the ports of the network.

    2. change the metric of the Interface on the network adapter. We have high, so a value of 50. You can get this metric by going into the properties of your network card > your IPv4 properties > advanced on the general tab > UN select Automatic metric and replace with static. (the entries are 1-60). Do this for all of your network adapters. Given that we have this setting that we have never seen the question re occur.

We also checked that it doesn't happen at all on the new cDAQ-9181 chassis. This chassis is intended to replace the ENET-9163. If it is possible for your upgrade I would recommend this option. You should be able to work with your local sales channel to get one to test with. We have 20 + 9181 in this system and have never seen the issue of not being able to Max commonality to the chassis.

Let me know your results to adjust the parameters I mentioned above.

    Thank you!

  • How can I disable SLAAC on Windows XP (SP3)?

    Hello!

In Windows Vista and later versions, you can assign a static IPv6 address and the gateway to the interface via a GUI or alternatively with netsh. Address can be configured statically on Windows XP with

netsh interface ipv6 add address "Local Area Network" 2001:db8:bad:f00d

And the itinerary by default with:

    netsh interface ipv6 add route: / 0 2001:db8:1 'Local Area Network '.

But the problem is that if RA-light router is present on the link, Windows XP will also assign an automatically generated based on the advertised prefix and a link-local address (fe80 ::) address of the router as the default gateway.)

How can I disable the automatic configuration if the host is statically addressed?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi Johnny,

. What is the brand and model of the router?

Please follow the steps in the link below and check them with the question:

  • Windows could not automatically bind the Protocol IP on the network card stack.

    Hello

I installed an Edimax EW-7718Un network adapter that does not connect to the internet. I installed the same device on my Windows Vista laptop and it works fine, this isn't a problem with the product or my BT Home Hub. I checked the Edimax website and this product is compatible with Windows 7, and I have the latest drivers for it. I did the following to try to resolve the problem:
-I've already been on the adapter properties, and clicked on "update drivers", the system says that the network card is working properly and that the drivers are up to date. I also installed the latest drivers on the Edimax website but the issue is not resolved.

When I solve the problem, he told me that "Windows could not automatically bind the IP protocol for the network card stack."

Please note that the settings are correct as the TCP/IP and DNS are set on "automatically get an IPv6/4 address server / DNS automatically".

Also of note is that in "Network connections" in the Control Panel, the device is listed as "Disabled", I click to activate it but it does nothing, the network connection is still disabled. When I click on "analyze what" the same message "Windows could not automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the adapter network." appears.

I also have compeltely re-installed Windows 7 and use the system restore, neither worked.

I hope you can solve this problem.
    Thank you

    Hi Mickey888,

According to the information provided by the Edimax website this particular model supports up to Windows Vista only.

    http://www.Edimax.us/HTML/English/products/EW-7718Unspec.htm

You can try to install the same in compatibility mode and see if that solves the problem. To run the troubleshoot compatibility utility follow the link below.

  • SG200-08 newbie questions

I recently bought the Smart Switch SG200-08, but I have some "beginner questions" on this subject that I started using it.

The edge of the watch 1.0.1.0 firmware. What is the latest firmware for the switch?

Should I enable auto configuring IPv6 and DCHPv6 in my switch settings to be ready for IPv6 as my ISP it place on the road?

How can I go about changing of the switch username? I could easily change the password, but with problems for the user name to modify.

Do I need to do anything on the LLDP-MED settings? What is that?

How can I confugure time settings system so that the switch works in my timezone (Central USA time)?

Thanks a bunch for all help!

    Hi Nathan,

    (1) firmware: it seems that the latest firmware for the SG200-08 is 1.0.5.1.  You can get it in the Software Download Center. I don't know if this link to the software would work, but let's see.

    (2) IPv6: You use NAT of your router? You're going to be using ipv4 or ipv6 internally addresses? Making assumptions on your network, I would like to leave it turned off for now.

    (3) user name: in the user interface web ther, click the administration drop-down list, and then click user accounts. You can add/modify/delete here.

    (4) LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) allows the switch directly connected neighbors and see their capabilities and settings automatically. Do you use other Cisco devices on your network or IP phones? For example, the vlan voice can be automatically determined using CDP/LLDP.  Please see p. 53 of SG200 Manual here for more details.

    (5) system time can be set under administration-> settings-> time time system.

    Best,

    David

    Hi Umit,

It is good that you have debugs attached:

    RP/0/RSP1 / CPU0:Jun 19 21:17:13.671: bgp [1039]: [IOTC]: open verification failed for 192.168.96.4 - "No ipv6 address of gbl.

You need an IPv6 address on the interface of "family of ipv6 unicast addresses" peering - otherwise the BGP session would not come and rest idle, also open check fails

This is a known problem logged in as CSCtq26829:

    Kind regards

  • A Wi - Fi connection is not a valid IP configuration

I have an old 700T1C of 6 months of Samsung tablet running windows 8.  Until a week ago I had WiFi connectivity problems at work (I was never able to get it to connect to my WiFi working) but never at home.

When you are connected to a public WiFi, windows performed an update.  I lost the public connection immediately and wasn't able to recover.  Since then, I have not be able to get connectivity at home either.  I took the computer to the store I bought if go and because they could get connectivity with their WiFi they said they couldn't help.

At home here, we have a number of devices (Apple and Windows 7) who have no problem connecting through our Belkin N Wireless Router.  If there is a compatibility issue why it just happened?  If it's too many devices, even once why it just happened?

I tried netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log hit

Here is my ipconfig/all information.  I appreciate your help.

  • Graphics performance service returned an invalid response.

I get the following error when you try to view Client Web 6 vSphere performance dashboards.  They have worked in the past.  The things that have changed are recently, change the MTU to 9000, updated to the latest patch, and ipv6 disabled on all computers hosts and vCenter.  It's happen for all guests.  Performance counters appear in the Windows of vSphere client.

Re-enable IPv6, this will solve your problem. For some reason, the use of VMware tomcat for the perfchart service instance uses IPv6 local address (0.0.0.0.0.0) to open its listening port.

  • Script to list VM Network

    Hello

I can't set up a script that basically seems simple enough but me stupmed I need to get data from multiple locations.

I need to gather all the VMS and their network config. I saw a lot of scripts similar but none seem to aligh the IP and Mac address per network adapter and include the type of device and VLANs for the network card. Also, none seems to take care of the virtual machine with multiple network cards.

I need this for an internal CMDB. They asked:

    Name of the virtual machine

    UUID

    The network name

    Adapter type

    Mac address

    IP address

Output must be one line per vm in a csv format

    Comments UUID Vlan0 Mac0 Vlan1 1 Mac1 Mac2 AdapterType2 IPAddress2 Vlan2 AdapterType1 AdapterType0 IPAddress0

    Any help appreciated.

Yes... It's my bad here I had a bad example on my test env, find vm with ipv6 this address and will write version update shortly.

    OK, here it is:

    $reportedvms = New-Object System.Collections.ArrayList

    {foreach ($vm to $vms)
    $reportedvm = new-Object PSObject
    Add-Member - Inputobject $reportedvm - MemberType noteProperty-Guest name-value $vm. Name
    Add-Member - InputObject $reportedvm - MemberType noteProperty-name-value of $($vm.) UUID Config.Uuid)
    $networkcards = $vm.guest.net
    $i = 0
    {foreach ($ntwkcard to $networkcards)
    Add-Member - InputObject $reportedvm - MemberType NoteProperty-Name "card$ {i}." Network"- value $ntwkcard.Network
    Add-Member - InputObject $reportedvm - MemberType NoteProperty-Name "card$ {i}." MacAddress"- value $ntwkcard. MacAddress

    $i ++
    }
    $reportedvms.add ($reportedvm) | Out-Null
    }

    $reportedvms | Export-Csv c:\myreport.csv
