Is an available in Foglight metric available OS?

The cartridge of the infrastructure, or any other place allows for reporting on a host or a virtual machine operating system uptime?

This feature would require NMS?

Thank you

-Brad B

As promised, here are the two cartridges.

  • Available in FMS metric ISP how?

    Hello

I am a new user of Foglight and have the FxM and FxV FMS all setup and ready to go. I would like to create a dashboard on the FMS who watch, 3 services we have built, at the level of the system data for example CPU/MEM etc and the ISP that is in the FXM. On this dashboard system and service data are all good, how data ISP of the location of the FMS to the regions more slow example, Top 5 slowest ISP, etc. in my dashboard.

I'm sure it's a really simple and stupid newbie question, so please be nice :-)

    Thank you

    Greg.

    Hi Greg,.

In the IU FxM under configure/Reporting/Foglight Metrics, you can set what parameters are sent to the management Foglight (FMS) server. Options include Applications, city, country, region, metric subnet and the SOAP server, but the ISP is not available here.

Potentially, metric ISP may be accessible by using a SQL query on the database of FxM.

  • FXM to cause FMS

    All,

Some of my application components are coming but the FMS and others are not. Any idea when the setting is one that implements?

    Hello

of course - it's easy enough to fix.  What happens, is most likely interested in the metric Foglight is not published (if you want) of the WFD.

    (1) on your FxM, go to configuration->-> Foglight Metrics Reporting

You will see a list of Application components, servers, Services, subnets, etc. that are being sent to Foglight (FMS).

    (2) pursuant to the sectgion Applications, select component Add_Application and select new, you want to see.

    (3) there is often a bit of latency for the propagation of the new data service (at least 5 minutes).

You should be good to go.

    best,

  • Metric of availability for the virtual machine

    Hi all

I know that stands metric Uptime to know for how long the virtual machine worked without a reboot, but I want to understand what is the best value of this metric?

If I put the time in a dashboard, when is red, yellow and green?

    Thank you.

Availability is not defined in a range or hundreds.

What exactly you're trying to find availability? Want to know how long the machine is for?  It's a number that rises and sinks to zero when you restart. There is no transition between different values such as CPU utilization or memory.

    Hello

I saw the newspapers, unfortunately you have encountered a familiar bug - "Metric shows no results when in advanced mode", the fix will be 5.8 Hyperic.

5.8 Hyperic will be released in December.

  • Hyperic alert metric of availability

    Hello
I have a problem with Hyperic event alerts on availability.
I just want to alert and e-mail when a server is no longer available.  I use the metric standard of availability that Hyperic collects and the alert I set the triggers on the event that availability is equal to 0%.  I am getting a lot of false positives where I'm alerted that availability is 0%, but when I look there is no problem on the analysis server, and even the chart availability shows no sign of 0% availability.
I tried to configure the alert to trigger only when the 0% event occurs 20 times in 1 hour, but even this still falsely raise the alert sometimes.  I tried this in different environments and exhibit the same problem everywhere.
Is there an easier way to detect when a server went down or are no longer available?

    Thank you

check the time synchronization between the server and the agent.

Hyperic is very (IMHO too) sensitive to the poorly synchronized clocks, and false alarms on metrics of availability with no evidence of a failure on the server are the most common symptom.

  • vCenter metric not available after installing the view adapter

We run 5.7.1 vapp and everything worked fine with vCenter, I added the view adapter (which we are allowed to) the vApp and since then I can not select any metrics that have to do with the original adapter.  I have the two vcenters added, but I can't add any parameters to customized dashboards...

The screenshot below gives an example of what I see when I try to configure a custom dashboard.

    Any help is very appreciated.

Weird, maybe it's a browser problem - have you tried another one or can you try to clear the cache?

  • Blow-in digital metrics, what is available?

I tried to dig up a documentation on this and could not find.

Is there any analytical parameters recorded or used for purposes of blow - in digital, or we find ourselves with our own follow-up only to enter the html code?

    See you soon

Digital blowing is not followed. You are right, you can enter your own follow-up in html.

  • Performance indicators not available on a new Installation of vFoglight 6.8 (5.6.7)

    Hi all!

I just installed vFoglight 6.8 (Foglight 5.6.7) on RHEL 6.4 that uses an external database on MS SQL.

He has worked for 24 hours.

I'm not able to view access or report on measures of performance on any one of the CV, DataCentres, ESX, banks of data or VM host.

All the vCentres and items such as the names of the hosts, vms and datatores are visible and show if fed the pages of summary on or outside and there.

and all of the alerts in the scope of her show too?

Just no Performance Metrics (CPU, disk, Mem, and network).

I did install a fix for the VMWare-Performance 5.6.7.1 cartride and update the agents as well as updating the FGLAM to 5.6.7.2.

Always the same problem after these checks:

    Database access is correct

    No firewall.

    vCenter administrator access

Starts the service and the server after each change

No error detected on the Agent log and no alert agent / errors on the FMS for the agent or the FMS itself.

    Virtual Server installation details:

    RHEL 6.4

    16 GB memory

    4 vcpu

    1 gb card NETWORK

Java mem: (to the first default)-now Xms8192m and Xmx8192m

MS SQL DB space available 8 GB to 10 GB (will increase when necessary)

    Your help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hi Otto.

You may need to set the FGLAM for the executing of Vmware. Please take a look at this support article

  • availability

    Hello

How foglight detect the availability of a server or application?

He's trying to connect all the n seconds? What is the value of n?

    Where can we change N?

There are a few datas in foglight tables called availability. They are in percentage. How this percentage is calculated?

    Thank you.

If you are talking to a server or application, chances are you are talking a Java or a .NET Server/application, is that correct?

I believe that we check the status of the server every 60 seconds and we get that server or one who is in charge of the deomain (weblogic admin), Manager of deployment of websphere of Caroline websphere, according to what is watching us.

If you go to the application servers > Administration > list Metrics, you should be able to see if a measure is something we get directly from a server, or if a measure is a derived measure

If it is a derived measure, you can go the derived parameters management see how it is calculated

    I hope this helps.

  • How do I notify when the it group has no computers available

We would like to receive an email if a group of computers (specifically a cloud) in vWorkspace has little or not available (offline) machines.  We have vWorkspace monitoring/diagnosis (Foglight) installed and send emails, but have no idea what rule to set or build for this.

We have 8.6 (pas.1) and vMD 5.7.1 vWorkspace

M + D is very customizable, so it would probably be possible, but seems not have the option 'out of the box.

    Immediate choices are:

    1. a request for improvement for M + D (as I don't know others would benefit from this)

    or

    2. ask for the professional services team Foglight to spend time generating this alert (contact your account manager to set up)

    Hello

Can you please indicate on obtaining the best way to determine the % of availability of a server for a month.

One of my clients need to produce this stat and asked if I could pull this information from Foglight.

    Thanking you in advance

    Barry

    Hi Barry!

I have the answer to this iva e-mail post but his will not be published (())

I wanted to clarify what do you mean under "% uptime? is this response from the server via ping, or services that are running or what?

The best solution, my site is to create separate services and whis server put there, if you talk alone a server

    David,

When you have deployed WebMonitor, did specify it URL to monitor? You will reach those URLS of the machine where the agent WebMonitor? Are there errors in the log files?

Also, can you post a snapshot of the file list of agent Web Server Properties screen?
