Is it possible to 'bookmark' a location in a document?

I am a newbie. I'm trying to layout a 300page book.  In the first chapter, I learned at some point... Questions to the author on an article. I would like to mark somehow this article in a way that were never printed but help me to jump at him - as a "to do" or in my mind a location in the document to return to the "favorite".

Is this possible?  How?

  • Lost the location of My Documents in the document library

I managed to lose the location of 'My Documents' in the document library. The simple restoration of libraries thing does not work. There was a recent solution given to a person who had lost their "Public Documents". I followed this line without success. Thanks for your suggestions.

I think that the creation of a new library can be the simplest answer. Thank you.

  • SYSTEM supposed to own records is located in My Documents?

I ask because I see that some of the folders belong (System) and some are owned by (user/administrator).

For example, I have a Diablo 3 save the game folder located in My Documents, owned by (System). I also have a NWN2 folder in my documents possessed by the user/administrator. I have problems with NWN2 (game) game progression involving lost (i.e. the areas on the map that I had been just disappearing leaving me stuck in a certain area, not able to leave. So I reset the security settings by default with the indications of this page. Then re-installed NWN2 and do not have any problems.
But how is it that the folders in my documents are the property of (System) and NWN2 is not? Do you think he was not able to define it's self that will be owned by user/administrator, the first time I installed the game because of some security settings, I had, but had to be to work properly?
Just try to understand what actually fixed the game.
    Thank you-

    Meinklang salvation,

Thanks for joining us on the Microsoft Community forums.

The issue slipped because you set the default security settings. Your efforts to solve this problem is appreciated.

However, you can change the permissions of the user for folder of NWN2. To do so follow these steps:

    Step 1: Take ownership

    a. in the Properties window, go to the Security tab and click Advanced.

    b. now, go to the owner tab. Here you can see the current owner of this folder. If your user name is not the owner, click on change. If you have active user account control, press OK.

    c. the owner window, click other users or groups.

    d. now, you must type the user name or the Group of users who will take ownership of the selected folder. If you type 'Administrators' you will give ownership to all users who are administrators on your PC. If you want to give the property only your username, type your user name. After that, press on check names.

    e. If the user or group has been found on your computer, you will see that the text you entered has been changed to [name of your PC]------[user] or [name of your PC]------[group]. If Yes, press OK.

    f. If the user/group is not found, you will receive a name not found error window. Make the necessary corrections and try again.

    g. in the owner window, select the user/group that you just added, select Replace owner of sub containers and objects and press OK.

    h. now, you will receive confirmation that you have taken possession of the record. Press OK and that's it.

    Step 2: Changing permissions

    a. in the Properties window, click the Security tab and click on modify.

    b. If you are not on the list of users or groups who have permissions defined, you must click Add. If your user or group is on this list, select it, click on allow full control and then press OK.

    c. now you must type the user name or the user group that you want to change permissions. If you type 'Administrators' will give you permissions to all users who are administrators on your PC. If you want to give permissions only to your user name, type your user name. After that, press on check names, and then click OK.

    d. If the user/group is not found, you will receive a name not found error window. Make the necessary corrections and try again.

    e. in the Security window, select the user/group, you just added, and then click on allow full control and click OK.

Please do not hesitate to answer, in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • A link to a SPECIFIC location in a document

    Hello

I am wanting to link a specific text in a document to a specific location in another document.  I created anchors named in the document I want specific text to link to.  The code is shown below:

    < span class = "style2" > CHS 314 < /a > < a name = "CHS314" id = "CHS314" > < / a > - Introduction to American Indian studies - spring 2006: < /a > < / span >

I used the Point of the method of file with two open documents (vertical mosaic) at the point of the text (in the document mission statement.html) to the anchor named (in the Papers.html research paper).  Here is the code:

    < a href = "search Papers.html #CHS314" > a critical analysis of works of literature < /a >

The problem is that when I test this code in FireFox and IE, it opens to the PAGE (search Papers.html), but NOT at the EXACT LOCATION (the named anchor) #CHS314 on the page.

I am wanting to and need to use the text on a single page to point to specific courses on another page.  It is not really do me any good to open the page, without going to a specific place on the page.

Did I miss something in the procedure to accomplish this task?

You sage wisdom and expertise are greatly appreciated.

The functions of anchor as expected.

According to a visitors screen size resolution and browser window your http://www.h2ostones.com/creatingsustainable/Research%20Papers.html page are not long enough in height to show the anchor effect if the entire page appears on pageload. Would need you a page requiring scroll so that the anchor go to the scroll position where the anchor was placed... ie. as previously mentioned "the named anchor should appear below the fold to see the effect."

  • Is it possible to find the location in the bookmarks of a bookmark?

From time to time, it happens that I strongly suspect that I saved a bookmark, but I do not remember exactly where, and I maybe changed a category or subcategory description bookmark in the meantime.

I usually remember something on the bookmark that allows me to find breast show all bookmarks, but it does not give me the option to rename or re-file the bookmark, category or subcategory.

View all bookmarks, looks that the field called 'Location' (of a bookmark) should be called "URL" and that there should be another field called 'Location' which tells you where the bookmark is breast show all bookmarks.

Is it already possible to find the current location of the current bookmark in view all bookmarks?

If this isn't the case, I ask it is possible.

The text that appears in "Troubleshooting information" seems not very relevant to my question.

Without the use of an extension cord, you can click on that bookmark to open the link in a new tab (you can also do offline), and then click the star highlighted at the right end of the address bar to open the dialog box "edit this bookmark".

  • Is it possible to change the LOCATION of the stored passwords?

I would like Firefox to store my passwords, but I don't like anyone can open just the browser to find all my data. Yes, I have a master password, but I know that is hard for anyone to go into the data files and decrypt the password files.

    What I would do:
    1. move the files key3db and logins.json on a flash drive. Or the whole if absolutely necessary profile
    2. change where Firefox pulls the passwords of my flash drive
    3. at the end of the account it will be able to remember my password if my drive is connected

    For a quick Q + A:
    1. I need to move just two files, mentioned above, or the entire profile folder?
    2. which file running Firefox at the current location of password, in the AppData folder? CAN I / should I change that?
    3. is it possible?

I am currently using Firefox 37.0.2, running on Windows 7.
I'm not well versed technical jargon, but I am reasonably competent.
Please let me know if you need more information.

It is possible to move your passwords, but it is difficult (and note, this is only a problem if someone has access to your computer, in which case they would be more likely to use a keylogger and gather all your keystrokes in this way, you'll have more great concern).

If you are very worried about it, then I suggest using something like lastpass which stores your passwords in a database encrypted in the cloud and only pulls them down when you open a session.

  • Questions of Bookmark Bar Locator

I wrote about this before; Initially, I put the 'bar' within the configuration of Firefox DO NOT suggest to my favorites, but after a while, he began to ignore this command and it would be fixed up after restarting Firefox to suggest bookmarks when you type a web address. This problem has been resolved by implementing a new profile in Firefox. After that, this problem no longer existed.

Now today, the problem is back. I wish there was a way to communicate with the developers of Firefox and inform them of this problem. If there is no other solution out there except for the implementation of a new profile, but it starts to become annoying that I have to go through this process every time that this problem occurs.

    Just to clarify:

    • You can successfully change the option "when you use the location bar suggest" in the dialog box Options (Privacy panel)? By that, I mean after you OK, change, when you return to the dialog box, it kept your change?
    • If Firefox allows you to change, he works at least for the rest of your session?
    • If you can fix it for the current session, but change came after you exit and restart Firefox:

      • Please read this article: How to fix preferences that will not save (your system more details does show you have a file user.js, that substitutes the parameters of your previous session at startup, so definitely check that)
      • If you have utility, privacy, or security software that has a function to block or roll back unwanted changes to browser settings (Advanced SystemCare, for example), you may need to disable this feature in order to save the changes.

I noticed that you have an extension named "adblocker update for Firefox 11 +". It is actually quite old now, and if you want to use an ad blocker, Adblock Plus is out of date, so I suggest deleting old and obtaining of PBA.

  • When you add that bookmark the location menu does not appear.

Firefox on Ubuntu 10.04 10.0.2 - when I add a bookmark the secondary menu (which allows to choose the location) does not appear. The bookmark is created in the bookmark main 'folder '. I can handle the bookmark after its creation, but it is not very effective.

Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

  • upgrading to windows 7 and lost bookmarks - the location/name of file would be under Vista so I can find it?

I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 - Favorites IE installs fine but not the bookmarks of Fire Fox. What the name and the location was under Vista so I can search the hard drive for them. Yes I should have saved them but until it's too late for that now.

They are stored in a file called places.sqlite in the profile folder. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox for more details about the location of the profile folder

The profile folder is normally hidden, make sure you have configured Windows to display the hidden files and folders.

  • Is it possible to change the location of the default download for windows updates?

I have a problem with space on the C drive and need to have the windows updates to download to a different location is it feasible?

Updates are automatically downloaded to the subfolder WINDOWS\Software Distribution\Download.
They are then unpacked on the drive that has the most free space available and installed from there.
The contents of the subfolder download is empty regularly.

There is no way to redirect where updates are downloaded for security reasons.
Suggest run you Disk Cleanup to free up space disc.

If the installed operating system is Windows XP , you can also remove old system restore points
by clicking on the More Options tab and then click on the cleaning the button in the system restore .
You can also resize the disk space used by system restore by opening System in Control Panel.
    Click the System Restore tab.
Click the drive that SR is followed, and then click the settings button.
When disk space use , move the slider to Min in order to reduce the amount of retained restore points.

In Windows Vista / Windows 7 , there is no such possibility in Disk Cleanup .
In Vista , the only recourse for the restoration of the system is to uncheck the box next to the disk, that it monitors the disable, click
Apply, then OK. Will erase all the restore points.
Turn it back on, and then create a new restore point.

In Windows 7, you can open System in Control Panel.
Then click on the System for the Protection link in the left frame.
Click the drive that SR is followed, and then click the Configure button.
Move the cursor located under disk space to delete old restore points or click the delete button to delete all restore points. Then create a new one by clicking on the button in the system restore in System Properties .

  • Is possible to change the location of the temp to another disk folder

    Hello!

I'm running out of disk space on default c. I checked the usual methods to earn not useful disk space (I need more)

    Is this possible? How?

What is the size of your C:\ partition?

How much space do you have?

You can be at a point where the drive with a larger replacement * is * your preferred method.

If you did the following and do not receive enough free space, you're right here.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 20 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.  All the foregoing that * your * stuff (indeed, for most of the systems Windows XP, nothing beyond 10 GB is probably your stuff) and you should consider some other containers to storage for things (photos, music, videos, etc.) you use all day on this computer (or some ties or extra storage installed so you can still use it on a daily basis without using the C:\ drive space.)

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
