In C:\Documents&Settings\username\, there is a hidden folder named Local Settings, and to whom a Temp folder with many files. It is safe to delete these files?

Yes.  In fact, if you are using disk cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr.exe > OK) it will delete all files in this directory that have been consulted at least 7 days ago.

You can go directly to this folder by typing the folder in the start menu > run box and click OK.

or the registry, I suggest you do not to use the Registry Cleaner option. If you use it, then always use the backup feature in the steps before you

clean up the registry in case of computer problems later, so you can restore the registry to its previous state. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway.

As Palcouk suggested, you can remove the "Windows.old" folder if you have saved data on the computer.

It is not possible for the drive to shrink. I would like you to check the amount of space on the hard disk after you remove the Windows.old folder.

  • / var/log - safe to delete files

    Hi all

On 1 of my hosts ESX file/var/log has grown to the point its me cause problems creating VM etc... look at the files in this folder are large size particularly sercure.1 and secure.2 (more than 200 MB) my question is, is - it safe to delete these files? I have also a lot of vmkernel.* is also safe to empty these files?

    Thank you

The files that you see with le.1,.2,... extensions are newspapers archived resulting from the rotation of log files. Log files are usually shot based on their size, or when a host or VM is powered. You can remove these log files rotated if you want to free up disk space. I do not recommend you delete the files '.log', because they are usually the current criteria (except for virtual machine logs).

However, if the log files have this size, there must be a reason for this. I would recommend that you first take a peek in log files to see if there is an issue that must be resolved before you delete.

  • Safe to delete files...

I just uninstall most of my programs Adobe CS6 because I installed CC versions of them. I noticed in ""C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe " there are a LOT of files for the uninstalled programs still drag." It is safe to delete these because they take on 2gigs of space?

    Hi Syrax12,

The most recommended to uninstall Adobe products is to use the cleaning tool:- http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

The second way to uninstall is by following the instructions in uninstalling upper air & features in Control Panel.

These two steps are the most recommended to uninstall. Incase you want to remove the folders to the location mentioned above, it will be safe to bring them uninstalled or removed by an expert of

Adobe. The expert will be able to guide properly.

    Kind regards

  • Is it safe to delete old Update Service installers?

    Hello

Is it safe to delete the contents of the C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Update Service\Installers? My PC has 7 GB of these files from 5 updates, and I want to delete them.

The software NOR must it always these installers for nothing?

    Thank you!

This folder currently holds downloads from the Update Service OR, if you go to file > Preferences you can see the folder where it stores its files (setting for another drive that is ideal to save space on the SSD drives).

Removal of thesse installers often can be a problem if you build installers for your applications and it wants to include hotfixes with the packages that you select. Patches are often released after shipments of disk so you can't just point to those media.

Otherwise, they are just the installation files and have zero effect on the use of your software from day to day.

  • Should I delete the programs of 2004? How can you know what is safe to delete?

    Original title: remove programs

I think I have a virus.  I see on my computer a few applications with and installed as of 2004.  The computer was purchased in 2007.  When I run it in safe mode, it works fine and all applications have a date of 2007 or newer.  Should I delete the programs of 2004? How can you know what is safe to delete?

    Hello

This is not an indication of malware. Could be those are placed on the
computer by the manufacturer of the system and that was the date that firstly, they prepared their
for massive installation, or if they did not set a date and be used arbitrarily.

    =============================================================

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

  • Could you give me a list of what is safe to delete Windows XP?

Could you give me a list of what is safe to delete Windows XP?

This isn't a list of "programs".  This is a list of files and folders which many (more?) are Windows system files that should not be deleted.

You can Google these names as easily as possible, although some names are completely ambiguous without the rest of the way - for example, _default and configuration could be anything. Panther looks like it is related to your Mac.

You must uninstall programs ONLY by using the control panel > add / remove software.  Do not delete random files and folders.

Download and run JDiskReport... and then you can see what's worth worrying in terms of size.

If your Windows system is running slowly, it is quite possible that you have been infected by malicious software.  What antivirus application on side Windows do you use?  His subscription is up to date? The subscription has already lapsed?

  • Which of the files in disk cleanup are safe to delete?

    That are safe to delete?

Per user queued Windows error report is 2 GB in size, I am the only user on the pc, no idea how he could be so great?

    Original title: Disk Cleanup

They are all still safe to delete.  None of them are needed at all.  Many will come when necessary (including the reconstruction of the thumbnails of the photo folders).  Click on one to see a full description of what is in the description below it.

While these can save disk space, do not forget that some of them may be better and let your computer run faster. For example, these tiles allow a quick view of your folders. If delete you it, your computer will lag while the thumbnails are rebuilt at the next time. Similar impacts with some temporary files.
