Is it safe to upgrade Satellite C660 / 660D to 10 Windows

I want to upgrade to Windows 10, my laptop is aproximidly 2 years.
I have a toshiba satellite C660/660D. My question is; I can do it, I have to get new driverpack for it, where can I get those or Windows will find itself?
Is anyone here who has the same laptop as mine and the upgrade? Will you tell me if this is satisfactory, but it works correctly?

I did the upgrade on my own as soon as it became available. I found this worked OK but was a bit disappointed by the absence of perfprmance speedor. One of the options for you is to create a 10 disk DVD set windpws I did. Then I did a new install of windows 10 and reloaded all my programs. This has a portable work much better.
According the information I read you need to do the first updated Microsoft then will issue a license that is kept on servers that is unique to your machine. When do you it a re - install it is not necessary to enter a license during the installation key, simply skip this step.

Windows 10 rauns well on this laptop I have not had any problems with other than the card reader drivers, but googling found a driver that works now, unfortunately I don't remember where I found it sorry. I think the driver of Windows 8 was one I used.

In November there was a big update, I had problems with. The installation of it was causing my laptop overheating and automatic stop before finishing. I have overheating problems on this machine despite disassemble and clean and replace the thermal paste on the processor.

I had to make a new record to Win 10 installation updated on another PC and use it to update the Toshiba, but it was still close during the update and came near close.

Win 10 works very well and starts quickly, although I have replace the hard drive under Win 7 for one SSD due to the failure of the hard drive, which will account for some of the performance...

I, like others, do not like everything, about 10, but it does not work on the C660 - 1 7 I own

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In my opinion these should ask themselves before Win8 installed. More info about Win8 instalation on Toshiba laptops, you can read on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8-message/
There you can check the support for your laptop model > Toshiba matrix compatibility. Check it out.
    >... I heard that windows 8 may damage the computer if it is not compatible with it
I don't know what kind of damage you hear, but in General, you can install any OS and check if and how it works.

The only thing that will be damaged is HARD drive recovery option, so I hope that you created the recovery disc until you have installed the Win8 version.

  • Satellite C660-12R - Compatible with Windows XP?

    Hi friends,

I would like to ask if my Toshiba Satellite C660-R12 is compatible with Windows XP? I'm not able to find any information about it.

    Thanks for your help
    w.

    Hi wencman,

It is important to know if you can get all the drivers for your model laptop and Windows XP. This should be checked on the official page of Toshiba:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Satellite C660-12R belongs to the PSC0QE series and as you can see all the drivers for Windows XP are available so to install XP should be no problem. You can download the drivers official and pre-tested. :)

  • Satellite C660-10F - need for Windows XP 32 bit LAN driver

    Hello
I want to my hard drive of the C660-10F to a storage network using Ghost 15 recovery disk backup CD. So I have to configure the recovery disk bootable CD with the driver LAN C660-10F for XP 32 bit to get access to the network at the start of this CD. When I use the file lan - en - 20101105155404.zip with XP drivers from the Toshiba download page I get the error message

Impossible to copy a device driver 64-bit hardware for a DTH of 32-bit image. One or more binary files listed in... does not match the target DTH platform

It seems that XP drivers contain partially 64-bit files. Same problem when using the original drivers Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller! Where I can I get running 32 - bit XP drivers for the LAN of the C660-10F controller?

    Thank you
    Franz

    Hi lagraf,

All Windows XP drivers on the Toshiba Web site are for XP 32 bit version for 64-bit was never supported.

What you can do to test the Realtek drivers directly:

If it doesn t work I think you must communicate directly with the external HARD disk. Most NAS devices also have the USB port.

Hello to everyone. I have this laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium (no data by purchase of installation disc). Since this morning, I feel the following message/problem

    Windows error recovery

Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If windows files have been damaged or misconfigured, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If the power was interrupted during startup, chose to start windows normally

    Start the reboot system (recommended)

    Start Windows normally

These two options do not work. In addition, Windows cannot enter Safe Mode. I live in Belgium and I don't know what to do. I will try with windows 7 installation disc a friend (from Dell laptops) or should I contact Toshiba?

    Thanks in advance

  • Satellite C660 - how to install Windows on the new drive?

I have an old C660 of 14 months (2 months warranty!) and the HARD drive died quite suddenly.

    * 3 days works great
    * 2 days, got stuck at the "starting Windows".
    * Tried to fix with a System Repair (DVD) boot disk, but could not solve the problem (ran all night)
    * Start of DVD today and now the prompt of commands, each command "dir" on c: takes 20 seconds and try to copy files gives IO error.

I'm going to buy a new HARD drive and install, but is there a way to get Windows 7 on the drive?
There is no Windows disk supplied with the notebook... THERE is a recovery partition, but it died too.

I don't want to buy a new copy of Windows when I already have a license.

(I never have a backup complete incl. system, like the one and the only time that I tried to do that it was unable to complete the process, killing of many Virgin DVD-R in the process).
I have most of my personal files backed up.

    Thank you

The situation is quite clear. You don t have created the recovery disk and you have only two options now:
    (1) you can order the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install the original recovery image
    (2) you can get the original installation disc from Microsoft and install own OS

In the first case, check it please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0202TA0000R01.htm

If you take the decision to use option 2 Please note that your product key is useless and you have to pay for the new activation of license and the code. The sticker product key Microsoft belongs to the recovery image only.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV crashed with BSOD and won't start

My laptop Satellite C660 - 2 EV running Windows 7, without apparent reason crashed to blue screen of death, after which it would not restart.

I tried to reboot in safe mode with the function keys, but it is the extent of loading: windows\system32\drivers/classpnp.sys and then just sitting there. Different Internet stations, it would appear that there is no definitive answer to this problem. It is recommended to recharge using recovery disks or hidden image.

I can't access the user manual as it is on the laptop so I've referenced various positions on the internet. I had created for repair and recovery disks when I bought the laptop and so on to different positions, I started my system with the repair disk and the process began.

Unfortunately, the screens that appeared were different from those in positions and as I don't have access to a manual, I don't know if I'm following the correct procedure.

Can someone provide me with a PDF for a C660 laptop user manual - 2 EV?

If someone can advise me how to reload Windows 7?

    Thank you in advance.

S user guides document can be downloaded from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_manuals.jsp
Anyway, if you created the recovery disc please start your laptop and press f12 to get into the boot menu. When menu of startup appears on-screen set recovery disc 1 into the optical disk drive and choose the CD/DVD device as a boot device and press ENTER.

Installation should start. What you need to do is just follow the menu on the screen. It should be similar as sown on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Cannot load Windows 7 - Satellite C660 guard freezing

    Hello world.

This is a biggy. I have a Toshiba AMD Vision Satellite C660 / C660D laptop without Windows installation disc. Last week, it has become very slow, the interface resembles that of the interface of safe mode, then finally, he became completely unresponsive, therefore, through F8 on start-up I selected the option to return to the factory settings (I have this option)

The BACK screen appeared and started normal loading then who responded, then I rebooted only to see Windows starts for the first time and carry the load, before that I had to create a cd boot from my other laptop to reboot the system that I had lost the boot mngr.

The last part of the installation process begins whereby a white Toshiba screen appears with a green progress bar which is responsible for some drivers (see attachment). There are 39 steps to this process and I remember before the computer should keep restart itself, but it keeps freezing after about two steps. I kept turning it off and eventually the locked system administrator accounts.

Once more, I restarted the PC, but this time in safe mode, the operating system did in fact load in safe mode and I created a few new accounts with administrator privileges, however, I still cannot load all of the operating system because it keeps freezing during the last part of the process.

I have very limited knowledge of loading operating systems, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

First of all, it was a big mistake NOT to create a recovery disk Toshiba.
The recovery of HARD drive that you were able to start pressing F8, is only possible if the HARD drive is not defective.
I think in your case I think that there is something wrong with the HARD drive because there was a Bishop of startup notification which means that this laptop can not find a boot manager to boot the system.

I have no other idea about trying to reinstall the system using the Toshiba Recovery disk or another drive in Windows 7 (of course if you have one)
If the recovery fails, you will need to investigate on how much material could be affected. I think in this case it of needed to start with HARD disk check.
Possibly the HARD drive needs to be replaced. Of course it is possible that I m wrong part is affected, but at the first step you should check the new installation of the OS.

A recovery disc can be ordered here:

    Hello

I recently bought toshiba Satellite C660 laptop M21G with windows 7 32 bit installed (not not licensed) and I installed all the hardware drivers except the SM Bus controller and driver of Nvidia GeForce graphics card, this because it will not terminate on the web site of toshiba, or other medium there but when I try to install the Chipset utility or the display driver (driver VGA) an error message appears in the two installation indicates that I have not matched the software requirments of minimum requirements for the installation of the display adapter and chipset.

I don't know why these requirments does not include in the error message?

I have more than 12 hours, trying to find a way to install the display driver, because the standard VGA driver that installed windows 7 (32-bit) is very poor and I can't run any games or smooth video game
I'm hurt and I need help

    Best regards

To my knowledge, the Satellite C660-M21G belongs to the series of PSC1SE.
I m wondering where did you get the right driver for this series display
The laptop seems to bear the NVIDIA GeForce 315 M card

I checked the page European Toshiba and not all driver Win 7 32 bit drivers are available on the European driver page I think you tried to install the wrong graphics driver or is not compatible and that's why this error message during the installation of the drivers.

But it seems that Win 7 64-bit driver is available for this series, that's why I recommend you to test the driver for Win 7 64 bit.
In this case, you need to install the Realtek card reader controller driver SM bus controller can be the card reader There is also a version of driver Win 7 64 bit on the European driver page

  • Satellite C660 stuck in an infinite loop of BSOD after upgrade to win 10

Wow what a disaster, this is a machine under windows 7-32 bit Satellite C660 PSC1GA-01E01M stuck in an infinite loop of BSOD.

The lappy said that it was ok to upgrade to windows 10 so... Yes, I did.
Now its stuck in a loop without end of BSOD.

So I decided to use the recover option and reinstall windows 7 and then move from there.
After mega downloads updates and finally got to the stage where there was no update on the left to get, so I decided to upgrade to windows 10 even once.

Now stuck in an endless loop of BSOD again.

Can someone point me to the driver who is a failure, I can get into SafeMode ok, Device Manager has 2 problems

    (1) is under OTHER DEVICES is an unknown device
    (2) is generic pnp monitor

I tried from Toshiba Web site for updates of drivers for 32-bit windows 8 thinking this could be the best step but the links are bad and the page Web said sorry loser at home...

Also no network, if I try to logging for the safe mode with networking, he returned to the screens of BSOD...

    HELP PLEASE

Toshiba has released a list with all Toshiba models supported for upgrading to Windows 10
    http://win10upgrade.Toshiba.com/swup...SPX?region=TEG

Satellite C660 PSC1GA is not in the list, which means that this model is not supported to win 10 and will not get win 10 drivers.

However the Win 10 must run on this device, because it meets the essential physical requirements.

I guess the BSOD loop arise due to some drivers which are not entirely compatible Win 10 and probably these drivers must be removed before making the Win 10 update.

To check the compatibility follow this procedure:

    • Right-click on the icon 'Get Windows 10' (on the right side of the taskbar), then click on "Check the status of your upgrade".
    • In the app to get Windows 10, click on the menu: (3 lines) and then click on "Check your PC.
    • Now you should see the list of compatibility issues

Also this kind of problem could be fixed by Microsoft update, as mentioned in this article:

Furthermore, my CPU is supporting 16 GB and my motherboard also, why can't I put on 16?, because in the manual it says that 8!

I don't know what model you have exactly, but video Ram cannot be upgraded directly. All you can do is upgrade RAM. With more RAM, more memory will be used for graphical operations.

I bought two 4 GB PC3 - 10600 1333 MHz CL9 for my Satellite C660 - 1 cl .I put in and when windows tries to load computer laptop just stop.

    Any suggestion?

I presume that there is compatibility problem. Many people have reported similar problems. RAM should be upgraded with high quality and 100% compatible parts.
According to specification for laptop, your laptop model can be improved up to 8 GB and 4 GB compatible modules have the PA3677U-1M4G (DDR3-1066) part number.

    Hello!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-2KW.
I would like to know if it is possible to do the upgrade for the Windows 10.

If this isn't the case, when will be possible to do?

In case of not being possible to upgrade, what are 'problems / risks in the upgrade for the Windows 10?

    Thank you very much.

    Concerning

You old enough laptop model, and it will be not supported for Win10.
I assume that you have created the backup recovery (recovery support) so you can test your laptop and install Win10 to see how it works.
I don't know if you can have some big problems, but what can happen is that the sound will not work correctly.

I have no older Toshiba notebook and Win10 has been successfully installed. Everything works fine except the sound.

Test it. Play a little with it. If you are not happy with it, you can return to the original operating system whenever you want.
