Is LabVIEW 2016 fully 64-bit compatible?

Also recently as in 2015 of LabVIEW, the 'conventional wisdom' (which, I admit, I followed myself) was "install LabVIEW to 32 bit on 64 bit Windows , unless you were really given Big stuff on a PC with a lot of memory.  I (bad?) believed that this was particularly important with device drivers and possibly with RT I also (I thought) heard that NEITHER was currently heading LabVIEW on a platform 64-bit "pure".

I wanted to ask OR the week, but in the excitement of it all, I forgot - should now consider us install LabVIEW 64-bit on Windows 10 x 64 platforms?  What LabVIEW RT platforms, including PXI controllers?  [Hmm - I didn't follow my own advice on the Forums and do a simple Google search - just a second...]

OK, the Web seems to say that LabVIEW 2016 has "more support for 64-bit computing".  Maybe now is the time to take another piece of my own advice and "experience" - maybe I'll build a 'pure' 64-bit system and see if I can port my LabVIEW RT code for her...

OK, the answer to my question is "No."  NOR, we have

  • The Time Module is only compatible with LabVIEW (32 bit). Therefore, you must have LabVIEW (32-bit), even if you use a 64-bit operating system.

    Hello

I installed LabVIEW 2016 from 2015.  However, when I deploy my project it does not work.

After some debugging, I found that it is because of the Application.Kind.  Instead of Application.Kind "Run-time" to return it now says "kind of application not valid."  Is this a known issue?  Is there a better way to determine the path?

    Thank you, Sean

In 32-bit LV2016, it works for me.  You have the cluster of wired error upward?  If so, a mistake in inbound would result in this kind of invalid application of return.

  • LabVIEW 8.2, 32-bit version in Windows 8?

    Hello

can I use Labview 8.2, 32-bit version on a 64-bit of Windows such as Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS?

I want also to the library OR-vision and other libs.

I would like to know this before you buy a laptop with Windows 7 or 8.

    Thank you.

As you can see in the Policy of NI LabVIEW, LV 8.2 is out of mainstream support for the year 2010. As a result, NOR done tests/fixes for this version of LV on current operating systems. In addition, it is not displayed again in the LabVIEW operating system Support page.

So, in summary: it is your risk to install and use LV 8.2 on Windows 8.

However, there is no reason why it shouldn't work on a general scope. So, it is possible that LV 8.2 works perfectly on Windows 8.

But remember: If a problem occurs, this is YOUR question...

    Norbert

EDIT: One important thing I forgot: depending on the type of application you want to run/develop, it is possible that it will not work with 8.2 Although LV 8.2 runs on Windows 8. The reason could be that you need to recent drivers in order to run the hardware in the system Windows 8. These new drivers have not been tested with LV 8.2. It is possible that the driver installation program does NOT recognize LV 8.2 at all which means that you don't have driver API available in your LV 8.2 installation.

  • LabVIEW 2016 high RAM usage

I just upgraded to LabVIEW LabVIEW 2015 2016. Previously, I had no problem of memory. With 2016, however, even though I have a few screws open, rest, only LabVIEW uses 3 GB of my RAM. As I only have 4 GB, it slows down my computer to a crawl. Everyone knows these problems with 2016 or someone has a solution to reduce the amount of RAM LabVIEW requires? Thanks for the help.

One of my colleagues has some portable "cheap" that are configured in the same way with minimum memory (4 GB).  Even when you are running Windows XP (which, in my view, is smaller and needs less RAM than, say, Windows 08/07/10), it has been very slow to do anything (can you say 'Wait 5 minutes for the OS to load'?).

When Windows is "do its thing" correctly, it usually creates a swap file so that the software can use more than 4 GB of storage space for himself.  As I have indicated in my answer, LabVIEW 2016, when loading, seems to take a small fraction of this (a few hundred MB), even with the open code diagrams and block.  However, if your PC takes several minutes to start, runs very slowly in doing routine tasks and is an 'old' or ridiculously short of memory, it may be wise to (a) upgrade your memory (if you can), or (b) to upgrade your PC to the less a machine with 8 GB.  Remember, you use the PC to run LabVIEW, a solid programming / Data Acquisition/Platform Instrument I/O, surf the Web, send e-mail, or (hmm, I was going to say 'play', but games moves too, and tend to put more demands on the LabVIEW PC material, so both worse...).

  • Installation of the Module LabVIEW 2012 SP1 FPGA with LabVIEW 2012 SP1 64 bit on Windows 7 X 64 machine.

I installed 32-bit and 64-bit LabVIEW 2012 SP1 on Windows 7 X 64 computer. After that, I installed SP1 FPGA Module. While module FPGA completely installed in the 32-bit version and could develop projects fpga, FPGA interface has not installed the 64-bit version. Anyone had this before question?

The document 5WMF8NQ2 knowledge base says it's doable.

I have tried to repair the installed module, remove and then reinstall the module. Nothing helped me to get the FPGA interface on a 64-bit host VI. Any suggestions? Addition of the individual screws through the range of editing functions like a tedious process and the palette is not completely functional.

I solved the problem. Had to repair each driver separately for LabVIEW 2012 SP1 64 bit installed on the default drive. You may need to copy paste files to the folder that it installed in function.

It is therefore impossible for me to uninstall.

I downloaded the 64-bit driver appropriate and installed, but that did not help: Windows does not recognize the existence of the device.  I guess that, until the messed up bad software is uninstalled, I can't install things right.  I managed to uninstall the good driver, but the wrong software is still there.  It appears in the list of programs in the Control Panel, but can not be uninstalled.

So, how one uninstall when this message?

  • How to fix the error of Labview 2016 (32-bit) on Windows 10 database.

    Hello

I have software to read/write of labview (32-bit) database, which works fine on windows xp 2000 / 7 (64-bit). But it is not stable 10 (64-bit) Windows at all.  It pops up an error on most of the time. Please see the attached database VI. After starting my software, usually, there is no error on the face of the database of frist. but it pops up an error when opening the database section. the East-2147418113 error code. It seems that it will be more stable if I put more than a few seconds before you open the second database.

  • FieldPoint for Labview 2011 W7 - 64 bit

    Hello

I'm currently having problems running FieldPoint Labview 2011 on running on Windows 7 64 bit system. I installed the latest (6.0.9) FieldPoint driver which is compatible with 64-bit systems. However, when I try to make a simple program (see photo A). I met two main problems.

    (1) I'm not allowed to add a control, or a constant to the FieldPoint i/o Point in terminal (see illustration B). The option is grayed out.

    2) there is an error with the FPLVMgr.dll file that is used by virtually every necessary .vi for FieldPoint (see picture C)

I'd appreciate any help. If you need to know the application, I have a Thermocouple cFP-RTD-122. I'm trying to implement a simple program to read out temperature (see picture D). E PIC shows my MAX.

    Thank you!

    Juan

    Hey Juan,.

I see you are using 64-bit Windows, but you use a LabVIEW 2011 64 bit as well?  FieldPoint runs on a 64 bit OS, but does not work in the 64-bit LabVIEW environment.  I would recommend installation of environment 32-bit LabVIEW and go from there.

  • Why Labview runtime is not backward compatible?

    Hello

I tried to run a Labview program compiled by a license for Labview 32-bit 2013 on a 64-bit Windows PC with 64 bits 2014 runtime engine. Unfortunately, there no law and required me to install a 32 bit Runtine engine in 2013.

I thought that if a PC is 64-bit, so I need 64-bit runtime. Isn't this correct? And it's true that a computer that is running the executable files must have the exact same runtime engine version than what they have been compiled from?

Is a minor thought, likely that a labview program can run "differently" on different versions for the engine? say, flatten to a string for examples...

You need the version of the runtime that corresponds to the version of the development system used to build the application. This includes the number of bits (32 / 64-bit). Because you can run a LabVIEW application with a version of the execution engine - one that has been used for development - there is no reason to ask if it would be different on different execution engines, since it can happen. This said, OR try not to disturb the operation of functions between versions, and when these changes are inevitable, they are generally and there is often an option to use the old format (some functions have right-click options to be compatible with older versions).

Windows is a special feature, called Windows on Windows (WoW), which allows 32-bit applications run on a 64-bit system. Without this, you would be able to run 64-bit applications. WoW does not, however, a 32-bit application load 64-bit libraries (with the exception of system libraries which WoW to operate). The runtime engine is essentially a set of support libraries. Your 32-bit application cannot load 64-bit runtime libraries (they don't agree on the size of a pointer, that does not pass data to reliably), so you need the 32-bit execution engine. Similarly, if you have built your application by using the 64-bit development environment, you wouldn't be able to run it in 32-bit runtime.

  • SoftMotion module only runs under 32-bit labview and not 64-bit labview

    Good day everyone,

I downloaded the softmotion module for my Labview 2013 64 bit but when I try to create a new set of solidworks there is no option for this.

But when I installed the 32-bit version of Labview 2013 I could see the possibility of creating a new set of solidworks.

Why can I not see the option for the Labview 2013 64 bit?
