Is there a way to save the computer that was given to me?

I have received a computer with no startup disk and need to save it. The computer is a Dell with MS Windows XP Home Edition 2002. Is it possible to register the computer?

jac516,
When you say that you need to the "Save" what exactly are you meaning?  You get a popup window indicating that you need to do something?  If the PC was set factory default before being returned to you, then you will need to activate your copy of Windows.  If this is the case, then you can click on start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > activate Windows.

If you are prompted for a different record type, then you will need to contact Dell. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Is there a way to save the registry?

I had a hard drive crash, the technology was able to recover all my files, but had to use a new disk to start. The old drive is now a slave but who no longer starts. Could not save my programs, because the new registry is not correct. Is there a way to save a registry and re install. Since all my files could be saved, I think there will be a way of not having to reinstall all my programs again. Some are older and after moving several times, I don't know even where to find the original programs to reinstall them, but I would use the the one I had. Also can I do a full backup of the entire system on an external drive that could be used to restore my computer to a State before the hard disk crash? (including the registry, of coarse)

You can try cloning the old hard drive to a new one and then try to fix the boot errors. However, if there are other problems with the old hard drive, it may not work.

But just passing the registry would not work. It is specific enough for the installation. You must move files much more (which would make a clone - it would be a 1:1 copy of your old disk).
If the drive is not too badly damaged, a clone would probably work for to revert you to a State before the accident. However, it is not for the faint-hearted. You need a spare drive to clone and then to repair the operating system to start correctly as well as other errors that appear along the way.

  • is there a way to retrieve the photos that I deleted from my computer?

Anyone know how I can retrieve the image I deleted? Thank you.

    Hi amberdgordon,

Check if the files are available in the Recycle Bin.

Recover files from the Recycle Bin

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/recover-files-from-the-Recycle-Bin

You try also use the option restore files for previous versions.

If you accidentally delete or rename a file or folder, you can restore a mirror copy of this file or folder, but you must know the location that the file or the file has been saved. To restore a file or folder that has been deleted or renamed, follow these steps:

    (a) Open Documents by clicking the Start button, and then click Documents.

    (b) click on the arrow next to Folders at the bottom of the left pane.

    (c) in the folder list, open the folder that contained the file or folder that was deleted or renamed.

    (d) right click somewhere in the folder (without selecting a file or folder), and then click restore previous versions.

    (e) double click a previous version of the folder that contains the file or folder that you want to restore. (For example, if a file was deleted today, choose a version of the file from yesterday, which must contain the file.)

    (f) in the folder, drag the file or folder you want to restore to another location, such as your desktop or another folder.

The version of the file or the folder is saved to the location you selected.

  • Is there a way to remove the ToolTip that contains the name of the application when the cursor over the icon in the dock?

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I noticed that the name of each application in the dock appears above the docking station in a bubble of large text when the cursor is everywhere down in the dock next to this icon of the application.  It's annoying because if I'm often pass between two or several applications, I don't want to have to keep moving the slider to the top of the screen to get the text balloons to disappear.  When the application names are present, they cover part of the screen of the app that I work.  Not sure if I remember correctly, but I thought that those who went after a period of time in older versions of OS.  I was never bothered by it as I am with El Capitan.

    Thank you all.

Not that I am aware, no.  There is nothing in the system preferences-> Dock that allows you to disable or remove this function.

  • Is there a way to retrieve my drawing that was removed by a glitch?

I spent about 4-5 hours of work on a drawing, using Adobe sketch on my iPad. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden, 8/10 of the drawing was GONE. There are only a few pieces of it remaining in perfect rectangles scattered across the screen. I tried pressing the back button, but nothing has worked. Is it possible to get it back? I'm seriously concerned and angry at this point. 4 hours of work down the drain!

    Help, please!

    Christa

    Hi Christa,

    I heard from our engineer:

It's good, as she says (and I feared). The drawing was saved in that State. Our only guess is now somehow the app does not correctly write or load into the necessary tiles. After you open again the sketch, the incomplete sketch was loaded and treated as if it were complete. (Our only explanation at this point is potentially a not enough space on the device).

I may be able to recover an earlier version of the sketch, is it supported previous versions successfully while she pulled. However, I need to access his account.

I would like to know if you would like to try him out.

    Sue.

  • Is there a way to save the favorite transitions?

I looked around the forum and the answer appears to be 'No', but I want to assure you that missed something before submitting a feature request.

In FCP I can save transitions custom in a Favorites folder, change their names and adjust their times and their settings. This is really useful since some transitions that I use repeatedly.

I can do all this in PP? I know that I can save effects as presets, although it does not work for Transitions. Even if I can only adjust the default length for each transition, which would be much too. (I know I can put a preference for all video transitions or audio transitions, but I don't speak a different default values for the different transitions.)

    Thank you...

None of this can still be done.

  • How to read data from the memory on the computer that was written by another program host

    Hi all

    This is my first post.

I am very new to LabView and I just finished 1 Core and Core 2 with no experience of LabView.

I have a card SilconSoftware acquisition with an FPGA card on it to capture and image of a CamerLink sensor processing. The FPGA is programmed to produce a 64-bit using DMA to the host PC image, and I know the address of the Image. The image consists of two pixels, I would read the pixels in LabView, so I can decode the information.

    How can I do this?

    Thank you _KAL

I'm not familiar with this specific material, but the easiest is if the camera is compatible with IMAQ. Furthermore, the seller provides a DLL to access the images?

    HI mary08,

Welcome to the community of Sony!

The camera doesn't have the ability to crop or resize the image. To do this, you can use the software House Playmemories to change the image.

  • Is there a way to replace the items already my editing?

    Hi all

So I don't know exactly how that Word, so I'll do my best. I captured some VHS footage on my computer. The end result was. AVI files. I started to edit and cut with her already that to be made aware that programs like Da Vinci resolve will not accept this type of file. This is particularly alarming when I made files, XML and images "was not found". So my question is; Is there a way to convert the files that are already in use (en. MOV preference) without dismantling the changes that I've already started my first project?

If I am a convert files, toe adobe will be able to recognize and replace just exactly as they have been cut in the project?

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks.

So, after a few experiences, I found the answer. I used some old images, I had and made an example of. Then I converted these former .avi into .mov files and deleted the original .avi files. I opened the project to the top and the first asked me to locate the files. I chose the original .avi .mov versions and first was able to take these and just place them where they were supposed to be. No fuss. I exported it an XML and it opened at will. I've done two projects, just to be sure, both worked. Thank you first for this be flexible and intuitive.
