  Recently, I bought a laptop in the Japan. The operating system is Windows Vista Business Japanese Version. I'm not familiar with the Japanese language and because of that I wanted to change it to English.   Change language:

  1. to change your Vista professional Japanese language to English, you can buy a Japanese Vista Ultimate Upgrade disk/license.

  Then download the English language through Windows Update as an option Pack.

  Vista Ultimate upgrade must be done in the original language Vista came.

  2. your other Option is to buy a FULL Vista Business English version and do a clean install.

  3. If you want to reinstall, you need the original installation of business > Ultimate upgrade > re-download the optional updates in Windows English Language Pack...

  I live in Tokyo and want to buy a Q20. The problem: they all come with Japanese software - I don't understand.

  Does anyone have experiences in installing a version of Windows English Japanese Qosmio G20?

  The Japanese version seems to have at least a different HARD drive - probably others are not 100% identical either. Can I use the drivers that I found on the Toshiba page European? If Yes: no idea in what order I need to install?

  Any idea is most appreciated - thank you! (REALLY want to get one of these fantasies... things ;)

  I don't know if you can get a Japanese book with English software, but it is not a problem to install it. As the machine is essentially the same all around the world, you can use the programs and European drivers. You need a full version of Microsoft Windows. The rest of the software can be downloaded from the Web at Toshiba Europe site and there you can also find installation instructions.

  Generally, it should work, but of course there may be problems of occasional compatibility through different programs and their different versions.

• Japanese version of Firefox 35.0.1 using old search UI?

  I just installed the en - us version of Firefox 35.0.1 on my MacBook Pro (under Snow Leopard) and the Japanese version on the Mini of my wife (running Mavericks).

  I was impressed with the new UI of Firefox's search and went to tell my wife how it works, only to discover that his Japanese installation of Firefox still uses the old user interface. There is no matrix options of search engine under the search string candidates in the shortcut menu, there is no "Search" pane in the preferences. Everything is just like it used to be. I tried to use the 'Refresh Firefox' option to see if it has made all the difference, but that only forced me to restore preferences and reinstall its extensions. The search user interface is always up to date.

  I was under the impression that the language of the user interface was only difference between different localized versions of Firefox. Is a common to see such a lack of parity in functionality between versions?

  There is no specific Japanese version sense Workbench, that the menus etc are not translated in Japanese.

  However, the product supports the use of characters of two bytes in the application names, names of processes, form, name, actions etc.

  Wherever you would use Latin characters to Win, you should be able to use the double-byte characters.
