Issue of license reinstall DVD

I bought a used Thinkpad notebook.  After calling the manufacturer and ask for the reinstall/restore DVD they said I could get a DVD of Windows 7 or Windows Vista.  I asked them what the cell origin came with and they said that Windows Vista.  The cost for the DVD is $ 48 million.

What is the situation of license here?  Windows 7 license is covered by the royalty of $ 48 million?

Yes, it is, you can use it.

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Yes, Windows XP Home Edition can be an eligible license, but you will need to do a custom installation, there is no direct upgrade path from it.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

Can I use my Toshiba laptop on the machine license even if I do a complete formar? (No recovery/backup)

    Yes, you can.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

  • Issue of license on the version of the police - Antique Olive

    Hello

One of our business partners use a black 'Antique Olive' font in his file.  He told me that the police is Adobe.  I can only find 'Antique Olive Std Black' in the fonts Adobe store.  I bought and installed on our machine.  However, when I open the file, "the police is missing' WARNING still appears.

According to compare policies, it seems the 2 fonts is the same, but different version.  "Ancient Olive Black" seems to be the old font version.  As I purchase the license 'Antique Olive Std Black', can I install and use fonts of the 'Antique Olive black' version without licensing issue?

    Untitled.jpg

    Kind regards

    Stanley

Sounds like the paper uses the older format PostScript Type 1, the police, which can be found here Adobe - fonts: black Antique Olive®

To allow this font you'd have to buy the family pass Adobe - fonts: Antique Olive 1 and decide if you need the Windows or Mac version.

Std version you purchased is the new police OpenType format. Adobe - fonts: Antique Olive® Std Black

My suggestion is to change the font used by the document for the Std version. This may cause some reformatting of the text, but this is by far the more long term solution. The PostScript Type 1 font format is very old and has been deprecated by the last major operating systems for the OpenType format.

  • Issue of license of workstation trading at SSD drive

I am a newbie to VM workstation and enjoy my development on my laptop Lenovo laboratories.

Having recently added a second SSD I now want to move it's the startup disk on my laptop computer host.

If I do a complete reinstallation doesn't this invalidate the license with VMWARE?

If not, is there a better way I can instant somehow my current laptop build and then reinstall it on the new drive or is it simply impossible.

BTW my current drive is 330GB with a recovery partition, whereas the new SSD 128 GB.

    Thank you

    Cardy

I'm sure it is possible to move the existing install on it, but it would be just as easy to re-run the installer of the OS. Personally, I prefer to rebuild in these scenarios.

  • Issue of license multi-core

    Hi all

Everything that Google talk to me about my problem, to include multicore currently VMware licensing policy, has been a year or so old so I thought I would ask here.

The last part to my new server from the lab to the home coming today, I'm refreshing my old box mono-socket dual-core opteron I have used for the past two years; the new system is built around a motherboard very mono-socket G34 with processor 8-core Opteron Magny-Cours.  What I was googling earlier, it seems that VMware has not fixed the '6 cores per socket"licensing issue.  This license number is very strange since CPUs 8-core brand new ones can be had for less than $250 and 12 processors can be had for a little over $500, so they are not exactly going to be unique in large data centers.

I really want to stay with ESXi. That said, can someone tell me if I have to move to Hyper-V, I already have rights, just to be able to use all my new bright carrots?  A couple of thousand dollars just to support a processor whose capabilities are more or less comparable to a quad-core xeon w / hypethreading, lighted, who would work under the free license as I read it, is not in the budget.

Thanks for insight to date on that.

    Kind regards

    kfzig

I have seen posts that suggest that your hearts would work with the free hypervisor.

  • Issue of license VMWare ESXi 3.5

    Hi guys,.

I was wondering if someone could help me with the best course of action here.  About 4 months ago, I ordered a Dell with ESXi server on it (internal on a USB key).  I want just the basic... now for free... features of ESXi.  However, it came pre-installed with what I think, it is licensed to the company.  I have no idea even how to say to look at anything, if this is still true.  However, since I'm busy and I have come back to this project, I learned earlier that I can no longer starm of the BONES of my comments.  He tells me I don't have enough licenses.  The license that has been already entered under 'Configuration' was previously registered with Dell.  I registered and got a new one on the site here and it before but I have the same problem.  Should I reinstall from a new image to fix this?  Is it possible to just go back to the basic edition?  I didn't need all the extra features, I guess it is.  I just want to run the OS indepened most of the time.

    Thank you

    Steven

Ok. I would have noticed it in the first place. We will try this.

I don't know if you have enabled ssh on your ESXi. Otherwise try to get the following steps on the server console or remote access (such as the DRAC, ILO or what have you), after you set the ESX Server in evaluation mode using the VI Client.

Connect to the ESXi box as root.

    Go to/etc/vmware.

Delete the license.cfg and vmware.lic files, you can make a backup copy if you want in the first place.

    Restart the service mgmt-vmware.

Return to the VI client and activate the license of the ESX Server with the key you have for the site.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Issue of license with Windows XP, a lost key and lost disk.

I work in a church in trying to ensure that all of our licenses are legal. A few years back our Windows XP Professional and our key to Windows XP install disk have disappeared. People at that time here downloaded a copy of the internet and used a key found on the internet. Not a key that we purchased. There is always an invoice for this computer. He wasn't able to pass Windows Genuine tests. My question is, is it legal to install like this. After all, we had a license appropriate at a given time. What problems of license failed us by doing this?

Assuming that the company that made this PC for the Church still exists and keep good records, and did not use a version without Windows license in the first place (you say you had "a good license" at the same time), you can contact the company for the correct XP Pro installation media and the right corresponding to the product key.

If this isn't the case, you will need to purchase a legitimate copy of Windows XP Pro, which can be difficult or expensive since it is no longer available for sale through traditional channels.

If the PC is not old and is able to run Windows 7, it is an option, too.
