  Thanks for the reply. I found a previous question with a similar problem as mine, there was a solution that I followed and was able to install SP1. I should have done this before my question!
  I also installed SP2. Resetting to the factory settings was a last resort due to a problem I was experiencing, but after installation of SP2 my original problem reappears. The problem is now in terminal phase and looks like a new pc.
  In any case, once again thanks for your help, I know where to go with future questions I have.

  This problem occurs if the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The Windows file system uses the transaction log to retrieve the system transactions when a file error occurs.   dw cs5 serial number is a version of upgrade (precedent).  After you have entered your serial number you can select the previous version (in a drop-down list), and then enter the serial number of the previous version.

  Enter the version that is appropriate at the right time and proceed with the installation.
