    Thanks for the reply. I found a previous question with a similar problem as mine, there was a solution that I followed and was able to install SP1. I should have done this before my question!
    I also installed SP2. Resetting to the factory settings was a last resort due to a problem I was experiencing, but after installation of SP2 my original problem reappears. The problem is now in terminal phase and looks like a new pc.
    In any case, once again thanks for your help, I know where to go with future questions I have.

  • I received a phone call from someone claiming to be windows saying that my computer has been infected.

    only, I was contacted by a person claiming to be windows saying that my computer has been infected and he called for help.  He hit me the windows and "R" key at the same time.  Then I typed in "eventvwr" and who showed me a list of some events with indicator red and yellow.  Then he wanted me to go back and enter "iexplore www.support.me", so he could fix my computer.  I became very suspicios and did not continue with his appeal.  Is it a hoax or someone really trying to help me?  Because I did not communicate with him, I feel that this is not a legitimate operation.  Thanks for your help.

    dw cs5 serial number is a version of upgrade (precedent).  After you have entered your serial number you can select the previous version (in a drop-down list), and then enter the serial number of the previous version.
