ITunes divides albums by artist sort mode

Hello.

I recently updated to Itunes 12 and discovered that when I add a new album to the library he very often gets split into individual albums for each track in the genre of the artist. In the genre of the Album, it seems very good, but not always. For example, an album of 12 bride Schumann, seen in the kind of artist, track has 12 different Robert Schumann in the list, each with a f = album title

I have reformatted all the info on the album, adding Album artist ino and check how the information listed under defined sorting, but nothing is.

I use an older Imac (2008ish) and my library is stored on an external hard drive, for what it's worth.

Thanks for any info, you might be able to provide.

I get this all the time. There is a work around. You may need to try in a different order.

Right click on one of the edges and the info. Copy the artist of a track name and paste it to the track which split.

Then drag the track from iTunes to the desktop. You can then delete it from your iTunes library. Then goto the artist, and then add the track to your desktop file iTunes library' add to library... then he should go to the artist.

It is a recurring issue with iTunes. It is in the metadata embedded in some ways... If you select an artist name, you can see that there is a space after the name. The space is not invisible for iTunes, he sees it as a Charter.

Also, try to clear the name of the artist full of info from the track and you could see that iTunes still recognizes the artist, even if it is empty - is data embedded...

  • 12.4.2.4 iTunes messes up Album and artists views

Since I installed version12.4.2.4, iTunes seems to mess up the metadata of my music files and/or albums not correctly appear in the views of artist and Album. In the last 24 hours I have torn/imported 2 albums.

The first album I tore guard split into 2 artists, both with exactly the same name than the other artist. Other tracks on the album are about an artist, and the rest of the tracks are on the other artist. To the track, I see that the tracks belong to an album, but for the Album I see 2 albums and to the artist, I see 2 artists.

The second album I ripped gets combined with another album - already - in the Album an artists views. Still, in the view of the track I can see the newly imported album clearly as a separate album, but two Album reviews and artist, I see it combined with another album as an album.

I checked so to double all the metadata for these tracks and that everything seems OK. How can I stop this wrong behavior?

You need to 'force' iTunes to re - write metadata.

  • ITunes is separating the artists and albums! ID3 are correct...

I updated my Itunes to 12.3.2.35 this week on my Windows 10. A week before I organized my music library so I know perfectly how to treat the ID3 tags and how to fix it when Itunes is separating an album or artist. But since I updated the version that I have a lot of bugs, Itunes separates almost everything! When I add a new song (not on Itunes store but outside source) of an artist that I have in my library, it is not added to the artist was, but create a new section of aritst, with exactly the same artist name / sometimes it says "unknown aritst" instead, even if the the aritst ID3 tag is correct. I tried to play with the tags, but nothing helped. Another bug is when you edit the tags of some songs by the artist and manually write the tag Album name to get the songs separated by albums - in this case, Itunes is separating each song a new section of the artist, and all have the same aritst name & album!

I'm crazy and I really need help to fix it somehow, I want my library will organize

I found the answer and it is not good. Some albums are simply not available. And I doubt that I renew my subscription.

  • Organize albums and artist music with Windows media player 12

I have a few pieces of music that have the album artist and song metadata added. I move the files in my music folder. In Windows Media Player, the songs are grouped together in an album with titles correctly. I thought that WMP would move the files in the folders (album or artist), but the files are not moved.

It's been a while since I added my library music (they are files, not CD). Is this a normal behavior does not move the actual files? Or that only happen during extraction of music from a CD?

    Thank you.

Hi - Yes, you can add the music in any way that the costumes, but if you want organized by folder (and this is not already the case) you must create a folder of artist - and then in this context, a record album... In Windows 7, it's probably a good idea to do before moving to the music folder. I would like to know if you want any clarification of this... Best regards, Ric.

  • Various artist - sorting issues iTunes

So I have a huge library of compilations, some are properly identified in terms of the song name, artist name, album name and "album is a compilation of songs by various artists" checked.  HOWEVER

the vast majority of them simply have Various Artists, or where the various in many cases, the name of the real artist is part of the name of the file (if necessary).

The question I have, if you use iTunes 12.x is when I use the 'artist' list, the "various artists" are not all the albums under this unique collection, but rather, it chooses random albums, or in some cases only parts of the album and lists each item individually, so my 'view artist' list in iTunes is huge.

I mucked the tab ' info/sort' a lot, but in many cases, it is just after I click OK.

I think that the changing data in iTunes 'info' window does actually change metadata in the files themselves, then it is likely that these metadata which is the problem?

If anyone has a solution, it's getting boring really have this huge list and having hunting a complete compilation because iTunes it scatters is different parts in a variety of groups.

Setting usually a common Album title and the artist of the Album for each album will fix things.

If the titles must be synchronized to a non - iOS device, this must be a good artist or the album must be defined as a Compilation.

If iTunes displays multiple instances of an artist or an album then generally what works is to select all the associated tracks and use read the information to add say an end X for each of the areas of the slopes have in common:

    • For an album. Album, Album artist, and artist (if the artist is the same for all tracks)
    • For an artist; Album artist (and the artist unless there are comments/featured artists listed which should not be changed)

Apply the change which merges things together, then remove the excess characters.

Use the view of songs and display fields, Album, genre, Album, Album artist, genre artist Album, artist and genre artist side by side to see you whether or not it is necessary to change the artist and if sorting values could be the cause of additional problems. • How iTunes respect my custom artist/Album homework?

Hello!  I am trying to transfer my iTunes music library (more 11 000 songs) from the hard drive of my old laptop (a Windows machine) to my MacBook Air (MacOS 10.10.5, iTunes 12.3.2) by copying the iTunes Media folder: Music on the old hard drive to the iTunes Media: automatically add to iTunes on my Mac folder.  In the process, I expected to "re-brand" many files to do things like making the composer the artist under which classical compositions are deposited, for example, Bach all in an artist called Bach folder (instead of have it all scattered on in different folders corresponding to the performers) and have all the tracks on the CD to several albums in a single title of the album folder (and not in separate folders for) each drive), etc.  I did already a lot of this work by hand and worked to do things in the Album artist file: unknown unknown, when I accidentally opened iTunes and it began to the add to iTunes process (which I now want to 'Cancel', if possible).  It was my pants up, but then I noticed that all the work I did for the files to "reposition" in the records of the artist and the Album of my choice is not met: in the iTunes Media folder: Music, records that I had deleted have been recreated and files I had put elsewhere were released in the old folder structure , which obviously I don't like, or I wouldn't go to so much trouble to change it.  So is there a way to achieve my goal, i.e., customize the artist and Album of the folder names and content, preferably before all be imported into iTunes, and iTunes will respect and preserve?  Thank you!

You shouldn't do like that.  Instead, you need to take your entire iTunes folder (and not just your iTunes Media folder) on the Windows PC and put it on the MacBook Air to replace its existing iTunes folder.  iTunes on the new MacBook will look like in iTunes on the old Windows PC, with all songs and data, such as playlists, ratings, play count, date added, etc.  The existing "metadata" will be the same as before, and you can continue to work to better organise your songs in iTunes.

If you do as you describe, your NEW iTunes library on the MacBook will be more disorganized, and you won't have your playlists (all the songs will be new songs in a new library).  This new iTunes library won't know anything about the old iTunes library.  iTunes doesn't care of the existing folder structure when you import the songs (iTunes considers new songs) to a new iTunes library.  By using the default settings, iTunes keeps the folder iTunes Media organized, based on what you see in the list of iTunes window name song music library (more Track #), Album name and artist name.

The procedure to transfer your complete iTunes folder is described in this document

Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external drive - Apple Support

To sum up, the first step "consolidates" your iTunes media files (from where they are currently stored on your drive), in the designated folder iTunes Media (in your iTunes folder).  All your media files may already be store here.  Second copies of step ("backup") this folder full iTunes (which includes your iTunes library database file very important), on an external drive.  The third step "restores" that backs up the iTunes folder, in your case, for the new MacBook.  With iTunes not running, you replace the existing folder to iTunes of the MacBook with the old Windows PC.  When you run iTunes, it uses this iTunes folder; you see the same iTunes library.

  • Problem weird again with multiple entries of each album and artist

For some reason, itunes suddenly began to create an element for each song I download, whether it's an album there or by an artist that I have. I was able to correct some of them harassing again and again with the sorting, but most of the time, it creates just an additional entry! I have about 20 different Manic Street Preachers who come upward (my group preferred so many downloads). How can I fix! Very annoying!

If iTunes displays multiple instances of an artist or an album then generally what works is to select all the associated tracks and use read the information to add say an end X for each of the areas of the slopes have in common:

    • For an album. Album, Album artist, and artist (if the artist is the same for all tracks) *
    • For an artist; Album artist (and the artist unless there are comments/featured artists listed which should not be changed)

Apply the change which merges things together, then remove the excess characters. Occasionally, it can help to close and reopen iTunes between two renaming operations.

    * If the titles must be synchronized to a non - iOS device, there should be a common artist or the album must be defined as a Compilation.

Use the view of songs and display fields, Album, genre, Album, Album artist, genre artist Album, artist and genre artist side by side to see you whether or not it is necessary to change the artist and if sorting values could be the cause of additional problems. Another tip duplicates stubborn reality. I had three batches of various artists in the view of artists in my iTunes game library the other day that would not respond to usual treatment X back. What I found worked was adding the final X, but with each group, iTunes wanted to separate start typing a value and let iTunes autocomplete of the Var... for various artists. Collection of AutoComplete lists seemed to work when the full value of collage/montage does not.

  • Why is-songs from iTunes by the same artist?

I'm a Star Wars geek and a big fan of soundtrack buff, so I recently bought a copy of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Bo and ripped the CD using iTunes. I have 17 other albums by John Williams in my iTunes library, which were under his name for artists. For some reason, however, iTunes 12.3.2.35 displays each track on this album as a new album by a different artist (in other words, instead of appearing as 18th album of John Williams, I'm now 23 new albums, one track repeat 23 separate artists named "John Williams" appear when I view my music from the artist). I have absolutely no idea why this is happening because the information contained in labels for identification of the files are quite correct and the same as the other albums. What is even more strange, it's that the new album is bundled with my other John Williams music on my iPod and iTunes actually put the new files themselves in the same folder "John Williams" like other albums by John Williams in my "iTunes Music" folder No idea why this is happening? Thank you!

  • iPhone delete all iTunes except album U2 free music!

I had an iPhone 6s for 3 months with no problems.  Last night I connected my iPhone to my iMac to load all night, like I always do.  In the morning, 99 + % of all my music on the iPhone has been deleted.  (It was still on my iMac, and I was able to restore everything, it took 8 hours to do, since there are about 90 GB of music).  With almost 10,000 songs in my music library (which were on the iPhone), the * only * DO NOT deleted songs were 10 titles I bought from iTunes, free U2 album that Apple offered increasingly (and why they are so *).  (I think the U2 album came pre-installed on the phone, if I remember, but I finally deleted it previously).

A friend suggested I look to see how the phone is synchronized to the iMac and, of course, the box that says "sync any iTunes library" was NOT checked.  (Of course, I had checked at the origin of this box, which is how I got my entire library to transfer in the first place.  "And I have ever returned to this screen since then.)  So, I checked this box once again and re-installed the entire library.

    So, a few questions:

    1. it happened to someone else?

    2. are these possible clues to anyone:

    a. only songs not deleted were those purchased through iTunes (Yes, only 10 of the 10,000).

    b. free U2 album mysteriously reappeared.

    c. Despite 'losing' nearly 90 GB of music from iPhone, the bar capacity (that thing at the bottom that shows how much storage is available on your iPhone, and how much is used by music, photos, etc.) remained unchanged.  In other words, even if there were now only 20 songs on the phone, he always says that the music was about 85 GB of space (and the phone had about 32 GB of free space, as he did before all the songs have disappeared).

All very strange to me.  Thanks to all those who might have some constructive thoughts on this.

    1. no doubt.  Not for me.

    2 - Yes.

For a and b - I do not think that these remaining songs were actually stored ON the iPhone at this time there.  They are your songs purchased (including the U2 album which is considered to be a purchase).  You probably saw them on the iPhone since Apple servers ("iCloud").  It's the same thing as being able to see purchased TV shows and movies (if you have) on your iPhone and play them in streaming from Apple servers.  That's why you have not seen these '10 in 10,000' songs, because they are items purchased, and you have the advantage of being able to listen to them without the files stored on your iPhone.

C - likely cause is corruption of data on the iPhone store.  For some reason, the song files have been is most recognized by as records of songs by the on-board iPhone software.  The songs you've seen (after the problem) were not saved on the iPhone; they have been seen since the Apple servers because they are purchased items.  You can do a restore on the iPhone via iTunes, in case there is still corruption of data.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod settings - Apple Support

After the restoration, use the latest iPhone backup you must leave before the problem.  Update the applications according to the needs.  Then, sync your music library.

  • Air iPad - iTunes does not recognize the recovery mode because it detects that the device is locked with a password

Well I'm really frustrated here. I have an iPad Air that I bought for my roommate who unfortunately passed away in October, and so his family gave me his iPad Air and all the other things I had bought for him.

Here's the question. iTunes appears whenever I turn it on and says he can't go because its locked with a password. Good not much according to Apple's site, I reboot into recovery mode... Problem is... nor iTunes 11 or 12 will be pop - up and say its been detected in recovery mode, even if I restart the computer and then reopen iTunes.

What I'm missing here? I am running Windows 8.1, the computer recognizes that its been plugged with two modes... It is the thing of most frustrating I've ever lived and I can't do it in recovery unless its connected to the computer. I tried pressing the home key, which starts just the iPad as usual, as soon as I fix the cord. Also, I don't know what version of the software is (I guess 7 since he never really used) - apparently different versions of the software have different recovery quirks.

I tried the DFU instructions and powers of the iPad on the same before Apple logo the first 3 seconds that you are supposed to hold down the power button.

I am disabled and home because of the panic and anxiety so go to the Apple store isn't something that would be easy for me so if anyone has a solution, I'm all ears.

It was easier to make a gold card HTC that is to delete this thing and that says a lot, considering the amount of work went into those back in the day...

One last thing. iTunes will NOT open if the iPad is already connected. I have to unplug it, forcing iTunes close then reopen.
