  • Java Runtime for Adobe applications

I just upgraded to OS X 10.11.5 (El Capitan). I was working with an existing for some time operating system (Snow Leopard), because costs associated with the upgrade of software I use every day.

I went to start 5.5 Adobe Dreamweaver and faced "you must install Java Runtime for OS X.

Now, I am aware that the Adobe's Flash has been deprecated for a long time now, due to some problems of serious security that you can drive a truck through. The answer is, of course, JavaScript and HTML 5. But so that applications Adobe Dreamweaver work at all, they need Java? Because I understand that there are problems in Java security, too.

Since I design web pages and also want to ensure the safety of my Macintosh, can someone let me know that this execution for OS X is safe? I do not wish to have Java turned on by default, but I need the code editor for Adobe to get the work done.

Yes, it's safe. Download the Java runtime version you need here:

Download Java for OS X 2015-001

Technically, it is full of security holes, but since at least Mavericks, this old version is automatically prevented by OS X to be used by any web browser. So the only real danger of what faults there will be operated by you if you ran an unknown greater Java application locally on your disk that was written to hurt intentionally.

  • A mixed Java/native Android application for BB 10 porting

I have an Android application, written mainly in JAVA (interface user and logic) and a calculation module written in C/C++ using NEON.

I don't see the following options for the application to BB 10 of port:

1 convert the application as uses port BB tools - this means that the application does not have the appearance of BB applications.

2 rewrite the code in C++ Java: it's a lot of work.

What do you think about these options?

Is there another option (better), may be part of the Java code reuse?

    Thank you

    URY.

    Welcome on the support forums.

personally, I like to use native applications, because they have the best UX and are faster.
If you want to repackage the app that c++ lib won't work, so maybe that influences your decision.

  • Recommendations for an application Try & Buy PlayBook of expiring.

I have a PlayBook application that I want to distribute using Try & Buy. If I understand correctly, I am responsible for creating the logic which expires the application X days after installation. I need to do so that the user is not able to always uninstall and reinstall the application in order to extend the trial period. From my research, it seems the phone apps have the ability to store the date of the initial installation of storage 'persistent' which is not deleted on uninstall. The PlayBook has this type of storage? I am familiar with PlayBooks file structure so I know I could put a file in the shared files box, but it would be easy for the user to find and remove.

Someone at - it recommendations for a good way to expire an app PlayBook in a way that prevents to uninstall/reinstall in order to avoid the period bypass trail?

    Thank you for your suggestions

I don't know what the Android player support for payment (if anything), but I think that the other three environments now support payment. You can read the information on in-app purchases even if I do not remember the term 'license key' is clearly stated in the API documentation. Easy to find if you need.

I don't know how that would solve the 'problem' with people from uninstalling the app and put it back, however. There is still no mechanism that you can use to save the State that persists through the sequence to uninstall/reinstall.

I would say also that it may well be the best approach "structurally", you may not be happy with some of the side effects resulting from running App World. Specifically, I think that your application would be regarded as 'Free' and listed with free applications, which can mean you end up much lower in lists, because while you can get a lot of installs, you can get some shopping and so some good reviews.

I can not advise other than to say that according to my understanding that you could do a mechanism to try/buy actually there apart from the thing to uninstall/reinstall.

Personally, I think I have just limit my trial version to ensure that certain basic features disabled and so inefficient. For a few dollars, if the trial just gives people a general feeling of the product, and they really are the prospects, they will simply say "hmm... doesn't look bad" and pay the $2 or something else...

(Edited: to add the missing word "might" in the second last paragraph.)

BlazeDS is the way to go. Just google BlazeDS and you will find many examples of link Java to Flex via Remoting and BlazeDS.

  • Need help developing a Playbook application

I need to write a user interface application based for playbook that needs to interact with C++ code

an existing application of the playbook.

I was wondering what would be the best option

#1 develop the user interface using native C/C++ SDK - interface with C++ application code

#2 develop the user interface using native Java SDK - Java interface for my C++ application

#3 develop the UI using AIR - use a feature of the NDK to interface with C++ library code.

Option #1 seems straight forward. Option #2 and #3 might need an interface to call a C++

    methods of Java or AIR.

As I'm new to developing Playbook applications please let me know what would be the best option.

The PlayBook has no support for Java outside the Android player, resulting in applications with a feeling distinctly not native.

However, AIR has an interface fairly good native extension let's you call native code. AIR also has a current user interface infrastructure which is very good.

The native SDK currently has no native toolkit UI and will not be until the release of Cascades. So if you design your user interface with the native SDK, you will need to bring your own UI toolkit. You'd probably want to focus on Qt.

So, unless you are already a Qt or willing developer to wait for waterfalls you probably want to do UI in the AIR.

  • How to install my bb on playbook application

y at - it a Web page that tell me how to install

my existing application to bb for the playbook, I want to see what it looks like.

I have the operational playbook Simulator

Maybe there is a conversion that must be held from jad to xyz?

is it possible in eclipse? Looks like everything for playbook is the command line

You can't run a java application to bb on the PlayBook yet.  Maybe when the reader of the request for applications based on Java in BlackBerry is available.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I use Flash Builder and I HAD only once to use the command line. To install a token of debugging in my PlayBook. I used the command to check the applications signed, but so far they have always been signed correctly with Flash Builder.

  • FlashBuilder is required to create AIR for PlayBook games?

    Hello

I have a client with some games to AIR that is interested in them to publish on the BB, but they are done with Flash. With Flash CS 5.5 I can convert it to AIR and deploy on Android.

But if I go to the page "Download the SDK" of BB (https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/air/download/sdk) and it says that I need Flash Builder. Is that absolutely necessary? Is it possible to publish Flash games for PlayBook?

    Thank you!

FlashBuilder is not mandatory for creating AIR applications/games for the PlayBook.

I personally built several apps/games for the PlayBook using nothing more complicated that a plain old text editor and tools of command line to build, sign, package, deploy, etc..

  • Releases of question on 2 separate, one for Playbook and the other for BB10

    Hello

At the moment we have an application that is currently enabled for BB10 and Playbook. However, we've recently re-written the application take over much better phone interface, and we would like to submit a version that is not specific to BB10 and have a separate for Playbook version.

What I hope we can do is just uncheck the BB10 of the current version and let the Playbook checked, then submit a new version with only selected BB10. However, I wasn't sure if this overwrite the version of the Playbook and pull it store since the release "more recent" doesn't have the verified Playbook. Is it possible to have these 2 releases by-side, but be in the same "application"?

    Thank you
    Jake

It works as you expect it. In fact you don't have to uncheck the BB10 phones on the old version.

  • Is it fitting to name my app "for PlayBook.

    Hi all

I implement my 2nd app, and I want to quote the app "for PlayBook" to attract more users Playbook. I do not use the RIM images or BlackBerry or the logos of the app, I know that it is not authorized by the official. But I wonder if the app name with the "Playbook" and "PlayBook" strings in the application GUI, as "dialogue", is allowed.

    Thank you!

    @howardwu

My apps name is exactly this: "ShortenThis!" for Blackberry Playbook"and I use the same expression in my description, as well as the future on the page and they have never said a word about this, they just added the little (R) and TM for it that's all.

  • write a game of bbm to AIR for Playbook

    Hello

I intend to write a game for playbook with BBM and integrate with ScoreLoop. but I searched the forums and found out that there is no BBM sdk for playbook again and also I have not found any integration scoreloop sdk.

just wanted to know if this is the case, or are there alternatives? any help is greatly appreciated.

There will probably be a BBM API for AIR, as RIM told me that my IM applications should integrate into BBM to stay in App World. A few months ago they said it would be later 'this year '.

  • The missing PlayBook Application icon

    Hi all

I hope someone can help me with a problem I have. I am currently coding my first app webworks for the Playbook, and everything went well except that my application icon does not appear. I tried my compiled bar line on the Playbook 1.0.1 Simulator and a physical Playbook running OS 1.0.7.2670, which do not show the icon. The icon I use is 86 x 86 pixel, named "icon.png". I have included the call of the icon in a file ' blackberry - tablet.xml "as:

        Core.All
        0
        1.0.4.0

            Icon.PNG

        strangled

(the names of the author, authorID and the editor have been removed)

I also called the icon in the config.xml file:

    http://www.w3.org/ns/widgets ".
    "xmlns:RIM ="http://www.blackberry.com/ns/widgets"
    version = "1.0.4.0.
    RIM: header = "" RIM-Widget: RIM / widget ">"
        Game

        Game
        <>
    RIM: copyright = "2011".
    email =""
    >

        <>committees mode = "landscape" / >

My sidebar file was compiled using Webworks 2.1.0.6. The three files ("blackberry - tablet.xml ', 'config.xml',"icon.png") are located in the root directory of the application. If you need more information to help me with this problem do not hesitate to ask and I will answer as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your help!

I assume you are using the file blackberry - tablet.xml in the execution of an application not signed in the PlayBook device. This file is not necessary for signed applications, only the config.xml file is required. And for your problem, I guess it must solve it. In blackberry - tablet.xml , use the following code for the icon.

      appicon.png

  • Screenshots for PlayBook

Does anyone know what the correct size size to download screenshots for PlayBook OS 2.0 so they look right. >

If I look at the screenshots of monopoly they look at full size in the area of landscape.

I tried the rectangles and squares, and both times they get resized to portrait.

I have other screenshots in portrait for regular smartphones, that I didn't think I should cause problems.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Well, well, check battery guru as well. I think that mine the same look as the monopoly and Angry Birds, right?

They use just screenshots of 640 x 375, same as mine.

They are set to scale properly, as are mine, but I had to take down my 375 x 640 previous portrait mode turned since she was totally distorted.

There is also a thread on the compression artifacts.  While all three of the applications mentioned have pictures that could evolve properly, they seem to always pretty crappy right now.

I think that the problem of compression setting it which will take up to 30 days (from about two weeks ago) to propagate through the system.

I suspect that the scaling problem will be resolved in 2.0.1 in the client.
