Java USB serial port connections

I was not able to open a serial port usb using "comm: / dev/ttyUSB0 '. BaudRate = 9600' connection uri. Pouvez USB serial ports available through java?

Hello!

What version of Java are you using ("Ai2" or "ai2 last developer version ')? In the latter case, you would not be able to open the serial port using Connector.open.

In case if it is just ai2 it should be possible. An adjustment to the installation, you should do, however. In the file jwc_properties.ini please change the property deviceaccess.uart.prefix of/dev/ttyAMA/dev/ttyUSB (Please note that there is no '0')

Kind regards

Andrey

  • On the PXI-8106 serial port connection problem

Currently, I am trying to connect to the serial port on the PXI-8106 via RS232 module. However, when I try to run the Test VI opened for COM1 MAX (PXI Remote) running on a PC, I received an error like below:

    Returns the status code: 0xBFFF00A8

    Name of the State: VI_ERROR_NPERMISSION

Access to the resource or the remote machine is denied. This is due to the lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or the machine.

Right now I'm just a just loopback test to ensure that the interface for device is working before you start my labview code. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, if it has to do with the PXI or PC. Could you please suggest a few solutions to this topic?

    Thank you.

I managed to understand. It did not work on the right platform.

  • Name of resource VISA get does not have USB serial ports

We built an application on a computer that had a built-in serial port - COM1.  We have the option to change the COM port in the application.  We have installed the application built on a computer that has no serial port, but installed a USB serial Converter which records as COM3.  LabView does not see this port, even with a test application to return only the names of VISA resources.

We have verified that the port is good with another program (a Modbus Simulator) and installed the last TIME VISA v4.41 separately without result.

Any suggestions for more troubleshooting would be extremely useful.

    Joe T.

My main of the application still does not work, but now the little test ones are.

    Here's what I did:

    1. update my LabView 8.5 with the last VISA - 4.4 runtime.  This update the installer as well.

    2. added the install MAX for the build.

    3. adding the Support of Configuration of NI-VISA for construction

    4. uninstalled the app and reinstalled with the new volume of the system.

When I run MAX, COM3 appears.  He also appears in the application of test resources.  The simple test Modbus to write the program works, too.  I have a sneaky feeling that COM1 can be hardcoded somewhere in the parent application; our next task is to find where communication breaks down in our code.  The bottom line seems to be a lack of experience with the demand of our manufacturer.

    Thanks to all who participated!

  • How a detector of fuel level on the USB/serial port to indicate the level of the interface?

    Hello!
Im working on a project that contains a fuel level (capacitive sensor) sensor. My task is to connect the sensor to a PC and indicate the level of fuel on a chart. The instrument works with 1-wire communication, but Ive built a USB converter for it. So I want to plug it into the USB port on the computer and use Labview to access the fuel level. Its important, I need indicate level constantly, because the probe will build in a bus to see his level of fuel. I've never used instrument in LV control, that is why now wrote im.

Please can someone help me build a VI to do this?

    Thank you very much

  • Impossible to change the mode of the transceiver (4-wire 2-wire) for 485 USB serial port

I'm trying to set up a USB-RS485 device, according to this knowledge base document:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/1D516C10D7EDFAC6862571110073B8F4

However, all advanced under the port com series options are grayed out and is not possible to change the mode of the 4-wire 2-wire transmitter/receiver. How can I activate these?

    Thank you.

On Windows Vista and later versions, these settings can only be changed in MAX as an administrator. Just right-click on the icon and choose 'Run as administrator' and everything should be made available to you.

  • USB to Serial Port - Code 1, the driver Installation

I have problems to install a USB driver for a USB Serial Port. In the divece Manager (Serial Port (COM & LPT) CODE of ERROR 1) appears an exclamation point and there is an option to reinstall the driver, but windows is unable to complete the installation. Please, help, thank you

In Device Manager, delete all references to this port (remove entries) so it's as if the port did not even exist.

Then click on start / Control Panel / Add Hardware and have it look for new hardware devices.  If all goes well it will go to the Port and ask drivers.  If it is not, select the option to find the device, and then select USB Serial Port (or which option he plans that comes closest).  Follow the procedures.  Try to install the drivers now that Device Manager is clean and if all goes well they will now install and you're ready to go.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • VISA (serial port) commands fail in VI, but working in the VISA test Panel

Hi, I have an instrument that has a usb connection. When I connect it to a Windows 7 PC, it picks up the driver automatically and presents itself as a "USB Serial Port (COM7) (manufacturer's FTDI).»

When I opened NI MAX, this feature appears as COM7 (ASRL7::INSTR) under "series and parallel. And when I click on open visa Test Panel and try it "* IDN?" command, it works OK.

However, the VI (which sends just a command VISA "* IDN?") give me a timeout error (0XBFF0015) or a resource/device absent error (0XBFFF0011). A screenshot of VI is attached.

    No idea why?

    Thank you.

PS: I went through the process to create the VISA-USB driver, who has another question, but I'm trying to understand why this happens. This device has also a GPIB port and when I use a USB-GPIB adapter, it works very well.

N ° your first string to write sends a literal backslash and a literal n.  Your watch \n control, but it is in Normal display mode.  Change it to \codes mode and delete the extra backslash it.

Your second string to write is set correctly for the mode \codes.

Because the wrong string is written, the timeout error occurs and prevents the VI downstream on this same error running thread.

  • Access to the serial port in BeOS R5 invited?

    Hi all

It is a long shot, but I figure, it can't hurt to ask... I've got BeOS R5 race as a guest under VMWare Fusion 3.1.0 operating system and (more or less), it works as expected.

The only thing I would do in the BeOS VM that I cannot use my Keyspan USB <>- serial adapter as a serial port, so that I can use a BeOS to communicate via a RS232 line program.  Is there a secret way to get my adapter series Keyspan to appear as/dev/serial1 in BeOS?

    Thank you

    Jeremy

Mapping to series host equipment does not support the merger, but you can use a pipe mechanism to create a virtual serial device to present to your guest operating system.  Others have connected Keyspans to Windows, Ubuntu and other guests supported OS popular with different results.  Here are a couple of old son to read, these refer to others threads with more information is a bit recursive.

USB Serial Port a little work

    Serial port support - please?

The index of google for forums of Fusion has several more hits, but they are similar.  These two threads should give you an idea of what is possible with pipes and macports.

  • Serial port support - would it be a threat to security?

Our customer wants to virtualize a physical machine running an application using a modem connected to the serial port. Users dial-in to this modem to access the application. They are aware that HA or Vmotion is not possible if the server is virtualized, because the modem will be connected to one of the ESX hosts, but they still want to virtualize it.

Is virtualization possible in this case, the consequences - is there a threat to the security of the ESX host and can appear any other problem?

    Hello

Is there a threat of a series of device connected to an ESX host? He must not like there should be nothing listening on the serial port connections. If there was, IE. a console series, then Yes. There is a possible risk.

I would like to use a serial or usb to the device of the IP to move the risk in the networking arena where it is easier to firewall and that direct control attached to a serial port. This move also risks of "composition of war" outside the hypervisor and its own device. Plus, you get the ability to use VMotion.

    Best regards

  • indicator of serial port

I have the output of the serial port connected to an indicator, and it is set to display in hexadecimal. (The output string is converted to an array of uint8 first.) I want the indicator to maintain the value of the last number he received from the serial port. Currently, the indicator resets to zero when nothing is received on the serial port. How can I change this behavior so that the value is only updated when new data is received from the serial port. Thanks for any help.

Place a Case statement that triggers a refresh of the indication only when the bytes to Port is greater than 0 (zero).

And, of course, place the indicator inside the TRUE of the Case statement case.

What you can do, is the (digital) output of the bytes to the Port of wire directly to the Case statement.  Check the default case '1'.  You can also use this same case to read the port, so to display the last data series.  Of course, you can have two sons, one who keeps all the data that has been read (shift register) and the other parsed wire the part you want to keep on the screen and you as the production of wire to your meter.

  • Having problem of PCI and PCI communication serial port

    Hello guys,.

I have a problem with my serial port PCI and PCI communication, I use Windows 7 64 bit found no solution please help about this and I am very happy to thank

    B.Regards,

    Hussain SF

    Hi Hussain SF,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You get no matter what error code/message when connecting to the serial port PCI?
    2. What is the brand and model of the computer/motherboard?
    3. What card has been inserted in the PCI slot?

PCI stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect. It's an industry standard bus to connect devices to a computer.

A serial port is a serial communication physical through transfers of information inside or outside a bit at a time. The term "serial port" usually identifies hardware more or less conforms to the RS-232 standard, designed to interface with a modem or a similar communication device. The serial port used to be widely used to connect to a variety of devices external and is essentially a two-way communication port. There are still devices using a serial port connection. These are often marked as RS232 and would include devices such as TELEVISION receiver cable boxes.

The PCI of Simple Communications controller is a generic label given by Windows for PCI cards installed in a PC when the drivers for the device are not installed.

You probably received this error because you have not installed the driver for your PCI device.

If your computer came with a motherboard driver disc, put the CD in and install the chipset drivers from Device Manager browse the CD. This would update the drivers for those devices.

    Steps to follow:

    a. right click on the entry in the Device Manager and select Properties.

    b. in the driver tab updated some drivers.

    c. Select Browse my computer for driver software.

    d. click on browse and look for DVD player option.

    e. follow the instructions on the screen and restart the computer after installing the drivers.

If you don't have the motherboard drivers CD then please download and install the drivers for the chipset of the manufacturer's Web site and see if it helps.

Get back to us with all the information and results of proposed suggestion. We will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Serial port PCI and Windows 7

What is PCI Serial Port and what will it do to my PC which has been upgraded from windows vista to windows7?

    Hi Jose,

A serial port is a port of connection that uses the pins based connections to connect an external device such as a printer or a monitor to a computer. If you have a device that still uses serial port connections, you will need to add a PCI serial port to your PC.

Let us know if you need help on the issue and we will be happy to help you.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - SR3: cause of Serial Port USB

Recently bought portable computer Pro Satellite M70 - SR3. Tried to connect my Garmin Streetpilot 3. This requires the serial port. Buy the store of the local computer conversion kit.

Garmin does not display a USB connection. Contacted Garmin, they say that it is a problem of Toshiba.

    Help!

    Hello

Sorry, but I don't think that it is a problem of Toshiba.
I put t know which converter you purchased, but perhaps is not a compatible part.
If the garmin do not display USB connection so I don't know why it should be a problem of Toshiba. Have you tried to connect this device to another computer?

  • Tecra A8: external keyboard connected to the serial port: the necessary specific configurations?

    Hello
I want to share a monitor and an external keyboard with Tecra A8 and a desktop computer. To do this, I bought a switch 2-port Linksys where I plugged the external monitor and a keyboard. With the monitor without problem because there is a specific port for this. However my Tecra has only 3 USB ports and a serial port 6-pin where I connected (with a 6-pin Mini DIN adapter) on the keyboard. When I turn on the screen it's ok, but the keyboard (I also tried a mouse) does not work. Do I need a specific configuration on the serial port to accept the external keyboard? If so, what commands do I need on the XP operating system?
    Thank you
    Luis

RGB (monitor) port used to connect the external monitor.
If you want to connect the external keyboard, you have to use the USB ports.
Additional legacy USB emulation must be enabled for the keyboard.
These settings you can change in the Toshiba HWSetup under control panel.

If you connect multiple devices to the switch USB (hub) Please be sure that the USB hub using external power.
A low power USB could be a reason for the external USB device failure.
