  I was infected by a virus (initial symptom was redirecting me to different sites every time that I click on a google search result.)  I tried to clean it with a number of scanners (AVG, VIPRE, Trend Micro, Microsoft MSERT) a number of viruses have been found and cleaned (Ramnit.B, VBS/Generic, feat: java / cve-2010-0840.)   1. you want to only have the latest Java installed. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall all older versions. Then download and install the latest version of JRE 6 Update 21.

  What you can try. (I advise you to follow these steps in the order)

  1 reset your default home page.

  • Press the ALT on your keyboard in Firefox, then click Tools > Options.

  • Then close and reopen Firefox and see if the malware popup always appears.

  2 look for malware on your computer and malicious Add-ons on Firefox.

  3 reset Firefox, which can resolve a number of issues which you can't fix it with Firefox.
