Just put update - now have several copies of Ps and Lr

Just to update using the CC application.  I now have two copies of Lr and a copy of the Ps/cc and 2014 Ps/cc.  Should I uninstall one of the Lr copies?  Should I uninstall Ps/cc and keep Ps/cc 2014?

WDKlein1000, Yes, you can uninstall older versions of Lr & PS CC that you already have the latest versions. So, no need to keep both, unless you want to, for various purposes.

  • Several copies of photos and videos in librar

There are often multiple copies of photos and videos in my pictures and video libraries (I mean a LOT of copies... usually with a number in brackets).  I'm afraid that they use hard disk space.  Is there a way I can stop Windows 7 to automatically perform these copies?  I do not see why I would need never them.

If you keep the files stored on an sd card and keep importing the files of same whenever it might be a good idea to import into the same folder each time, at least you will have a folder that contains all the content of imports and only new files will be imported.

But this implies that you use windows Explorer to copy and paste or drag and drop the files in this folder, every time,

When windows Explorer detects duplicates it will warn you that the actions to take when it detects a duplicate file, unfortunately, once duplicates are present (2) or (3) on the end of them that they are different files now.

Copies (copying) aura about it, not one (2)... it's one of the options windows will give you and it seems that you have selected it when you import.

The option that windows needs to take is to not copy the file and change its name if it finds a duplicate you want to jump, check the box to use this action on any other duplicates it finds.

Windows has a bad habit of not reading inside closed files, that is why you have so many duplicates.

There are to many third duplicate file finder software utility out there to help remove them, use your favorite search engine to search for one.

The best thing to do is to select those pictures and right click and delete.

To select several files at once, hold down the CTRL key when you click on the left, select a bunch and delete them all with a right click and delete.

  • just been updated, now missing ip address and cannot connect

I just updated my XP computer.  All of a sudden, no link, correct not and can not find the IP address. I am writing from a different computer. I don't have a laptop too, but no problem getting on the net through my computer ethernet not connected.  The XP is not working now is connected via a wireless connection. Help me please. What to do now?

    Thank you

    Gale Pradhan

You said you didn't have a problem with your computer Ethernet.  Assuming that the Ethernet computer is connected to the same router that your computer wifi connects normally to, power cycling it as you suggest it probably won't help (even if it's something reasonable to try and easy to do).

Linksys has (and has) some many different and routers adapters it is difficult to distinguish without the actual model numbers.  I think you have the WUSB54GC.

I suggest to remove the adapter from the computer and reboot.  Then plug the adapter and see if that fixed things.

The next step would be to right click on the entry in the Device Manager and select uninstall.  Then restart with the smart card.  Windows should find the adapter and install the driver for it.

If none of these methods help, remove the adapter from the computer, and then uninstall the software Linksys Control Panel > Add / Remove programs.  If you have the CD that came with the adapter, use it to reinstall the adapter.

If you do not have the CD, you can download the latest version of the driver and the Guide of the user here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WUSB54GC you need, however, to know the hardware version of your card (look carefully his label).

A couple of things that you should keep in mind:

Download of version 1 is about 6 MB.  Download of version 3 is about 20 MB.  I don't know what is the big difference.

The two facilities seem to install the Linksys Wireless Manager that will manage your adapter.  It replaces the built-in Manager Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC).  There is nothing wrong with that, but it is very important that only one of these applications is running.  I guess that the Linksys software stop automatically Windows WZC.  I couldn't see anything in the User Guide which explained how to stop or disable the Linksys Wireless Manager if you want to use WZC instead.

  • After having to reinstall XP, now have multiple copies on my machine

I suffered two catastrophic failures on my desktop running Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installed.  In each case, I was able to reload Windows from the CD and make appropriate updates and driver charging.  But whenever I reload XP I get another copy of Windows on drive C?  Now when I scan the C drive, I have a "Windows, host1 and Windows2!"  Is there a way to get rid of both of them because my office is quite old and limited it's hard drive capacity and each copy of Windows takes a lot of disk space and seem to be mostly from duplicate files?  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Hi butch40,

    1. during the reinstallation of Windows XP on the computer have you provided the name of the installation folder?

    2. do you find several entries of Windows XP on the start menu screen?

Restart the computer and check if you find multiple entries of Windows XP in the boot menu, check also if you can start in each of them.

Check also if you find several Windows XP entries in the boot.ini file.

Try the following steps to view the Boot.ini file.

    (a) right click my computer and then click Properties.

    (b) on the Advanced tab, click settings under Startup and recovery.

    (c) under System startup, click Edit.

You can also try to remove the host1 and Windows2 folders by right-click on it and click on delete, check if it works.

  • I have several copies of two documents yesterday and can't get rid of them. Can anyone help? Thank you.

These copies are in "my pictures".  I tried to remove them and they go into the bin, but they seem to be always in my photos.

Files can sometimes appear after their deletion, but when you refresh the view, the list should properly update and deleted files shouldn't show.

Press F5 to refresh the display and check if they are still listed.
If they are, you are able to open the files?

When you install software that is not genuine, you know not what you found or what it can do for your system.

In addition, counterfeit software might be blocking your legitimate product activation and causing it to fail. Please check your file host such indicated below.

    Windows

    Locate the hosts file.
Click Start, run, type "% systemroot % \system32\drivers\etc", and then click OK.
Right click on the file and select open. Select the application Notepad open the hosts file.

Save a backup of the file. Choose file > save as name the file hosts.backup, and then click OK.

Find 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com and delete this entry.

Save the file and close it.

or you can create a default hosts file following these instructions
    Please see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 for instructions.

    Mac

Open a Finder window. Choose go > go to folder.
Type "/ etc" (make sure that the client is logged on as administrator).
Select the hosts file and open it.
Look for the entry 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com and delete this text
Save the file and close it.

  • I have several odd registry entries and do not know whether or not they are viruses.

"Red light"; «Watch "; and "carpet".  All have similar values with 50 lines of hex'

I just checked my registry and found no occurrences of "Red light" or "carpet".  The word 'Watch' appears in many places, but especially in the context of other words such as "Roxwatch".  I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  If you want to check your system, here are some things you can do.

Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode.  Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure.  To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode.  Then run a complete system scan.

You can check the corrupted system files.  Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.

  • When you have several layers, move pictures and text from background layer

    Greetings

I have an image that has about 24 layers, many of them are text.  When you try to move the images and text on the same layer yesterday, I ran into problems, but finally fixed by moving these elements from the bottom layer, using Ctrl\Move.

It worked well so I thought I'd show my fellow learners at our regular session of Friday on 11 items to SeniorNet.  However when I went to show them I could move easily and freely on the background layer - without using Ctrl, just the move tool.  Elements simply very quickly leave the background layer for the relevant layer with the image or the text (as before?).

Does not include why I couldn't do that in the first place at home, but I had a lot of testing there.  What circumstances might have been different?

Jim, in the Interface of PSE11/12 "Auto select Layer" is displayed in the background Tool Options Panel

    See you soon,.

  • My Manager of Add-ons Firefox 15.0.1 stop working. I have several add ons installed and can not handle them.

On a new installation of XP SP3 after a few days of using the add-on Manager just quit loading. Tried switching back and forth between all the 4 tabs on the page of the Add-ons Manager, nothing. Tried rebooting with the disabled modules, didn't work. Check all the options I know, can't seem to solve the problem.

Delete the extensions.ini and extensions.sqlite and maybe also compatibility.ini of the Firefox profile might help. You must display the first hidden files to see profile.
