  Absolutely not. You're misinterpreting things. Activation does not happen when you simply run the installer, although later.   I just got my macbook pro hard drive wiped had reinstalled Yosemite and then I installed my last full to the top. I didn't know, I had to mess w / my CS, then adobe has sent me a link to download CS4 Web Premium. I uninstalled (as shown) and I downloaded the file (called ADBESTWDCS4_LS1.dmg) and on my desk, I have a folder called CS4 Web Premium Disc 1. When I opened it there 3 Readme links and and icon for CS4 Web Premium. When I open that there are four files, an icon that indicates the Installer (that I can't open it) and "bootstrapper.dmg". Adobe documentation for the installation says to double-click on the dmg file and follow the instructions. There is no action even when I double click on the .dmg files above.

  First of all thanks for respone and sorry for the delay to return but am in Australia so bit of a lag in time!

  OK the sequence goes as follows:

  1 gigabyte MB BIOS screen - at this stage sensitive keyboard and I can access BIOS OK.

  2. new screen - PCI resources; Checking DMI Pool etc. ;

  3. new screen - "Please choose which startup option:

  -Windows XP Home Edition

  -Installation of Windows XP.

  and countdown etc. - from this point in the sequence of the keyboard does not respond so cannot select the OS and inadmissible F8, then highlighted option default selected that is configured.

  4. new screen - "check you computer hardware configuration...".

  Looks like you are leaving it too late to use F8 (must be before the OS options appear)- and you have a partial installation of some versions of Windows in progress seeking the file on a CD.

  One thing I do in this case is to open several tabs, and then drag one tab away from others. When you drag the tab away it will open in its own window, which gives you what sounds like you after.

  I really appreciate your response, however, I was able to solve it with the system restore and reinstallation of several windows updates.

  It turned out that a third-party software was the culprit.  Once I made this discovery, I reinstalled the software uninstalled, and carried out the system restore and updates.
