  My counter top is an Acer Aspire M5201 64 bit machine I had no problem with all running Windows 7.  I changed to Windows 8 Pro in December and it has worked flawlessly and I was very happy until April.  After several updates Microsoft my machine started to freeze and I have to restart.  However, it would not restart due to no video input.  I've tried several things, change the cable DVI to VGA, unplug the machine and leave for half an hour the tour is played it will return but crashes during the first boot.  If I reboot a second time it lights without problem.  I thought I had managed to solve this problem, but I was put under my computer when I'm away from the desk top.  Today, the phone rang and he entered mode 'sleep' and I couldn't put it back on.  I have consulted many people here in the past about this issue and one solution was to change the parameters of quick start.  It worked but not anymore.  I did different things to my computer to try sorting, but they are all in without success.  I've got rid of Trusteer report on recommendation and dumped loads of temporary files.  I learned that Kaspersky is in conflict with Windows 8 and so on.  Kaspersky has come to me several things that were at the origin of the problems.   Nobody told me how to fix this file only to make an update of Windows, which would mean that I would lose all my Windows applications not that I don't want to do because I have so much of.

• Problem with the Gateway using Vista laptop battery

  Hi all

  I've had this laptop Gateway for a year now and I have had this strange problem with it probably a good 3 months to own. Basically the little thing of battery indicator on the bottom right of the task bar will say "plugged in, not charging" while the laptop is plugged. So this is my little ghetto rig which leads me to believe that is not the battery or the charger which gives me the trouble.

  While the laptop is plugged in, and moan about there is no life left blah blah, I pop the battery and back in. Hop, I magically have full battery and be able to unplug the laptop for mobile use.

  I've read a lot online that it is a Vista problem, that I am running, and not a hardware problem. I would really like to know if this is true, because I am a student and prefer not spend the precious material fixing money when this is not the problem. As stated earlier, cell phone charges when it is plugged in, it SAID only that it does not load. When I pop the battery, it works fine until the next time that the battery is exhausted and then I plug it in and have to redo the same platform of ghetto.

  It's just a little a downside to keep popping up that darn battery in and out, and frankly, I don't think it's good for the laptop to keep doing this, even if it's worked for me for about 7-8 months now.

  Can someone please offer information about this weird issue?

• Problem with drive HARD and Vista install

  A few weeks ago, my Dell Inspiron laptop computer started to freeze. I could boot ok and my desktop wallpaper and icons were all there, but I couldn't run or open anything. I did the Bios tests and my Vista installation disc and told me there was a problem with my hard drive. I wiped it and tried to reinstall vista and that I could see it wasn't working because it took hours and then seems to have stopped again during installation. So I bought a new one and tried to install Vista. everything was going well until it is restarts a second time and I got a black screen with a mouse pointer icon. I had to reinstall it running for about 4 hours, at least an hour of that time which was all that was going on and the hard disk wasn't spinning.

  How long on avg would take to install Vista, if it is running normally?

  is there anything else that might be a problem that would not appear in the repair of Vista or Bios diagnostics?

  My photosmart 5514 is set up wireless.  When I try to put my Dell desk top with Vista Home Premium 68 pending, I get a message that the driver for the WSP device prevents goiing pending and I am encouraged to communicate with the manufacturer which is HP.  I also have a problem that the scan function can only scan to my laptop and not on my desk even if both are on the same network I don't know if the two probs are related.  I tried several times to update or reinstall the drivers from HP website of HP and from the drive.  The issue (s) outstanding.
