k001a 23 want no admin has to win 8.1 recovery

Hi team,

my envy touch 23, Win 8.1locked running. I rebooted and happening right now in diagnostic mode.  When I try to choose advanced options such as the restoration of the system or the Startup Repair, he says he needs an administrator account to carry this point, but there is no such account on this computer.

There is only one account for the computer, a Windows account that has administrator rights, then I do not understand this message.

I don't have Windows automatically updated so that it was not in the middle of nothing when it restarts.

While most of the data files is saved, I need to recover my email folders before anything drastic like reset is done.  I tried to create a bootable Linux USB flash drive to enter the files but I can not even start, despite changes to the BIOS so that it the first option.

So, 2 problems:

1. lack of an administrator account.

2. impossible to boot from the flash drive.

I send you this since another device HP - Touchsmart Sleekbook want also winning 8.1.  I think I'd have the same problems with lack of admin account?

Thanks for your help

Have you tried to 'Legacy Boot Sources' in the F9 menu via the attached USB?

Have you tried a bootable CD/DVD instead of USB?

Have you tried HP PC Diagnostics UEFI to test the hardware of the system running?

You may have a hardware failure that prevents you from starting Windows.

Screening of hardware failures

If nothing else works you may need to remove the hard drive, install it in an external hard drive enclosure and then plug it into another PC to access your files.

  • Possible to install Win 8 of recovery in Legacy Bios mode discs?

Is it possible to install Win 8 of recovery disks in Legacy Bios instead of UEFI mode, as it comes with?

Or will install it automatically use UEFI mode and configure start secure even if your bios is set to Legacy Bios installation mode for Windows 8?

    In addition,

If I install a clean copy of windows 8 from the official Microsoft Windows 8 Core RTM dvd (same version as my system) and it detects and accepts the built in Win 8 product key and key of CD which is built in my Bios and it activates as valid installation and activeted - this void my warranty?

(It's the same exact Windows version and license I paid HP for except it has not added recovery partition or software of HP so I don't think he would cancel warranty... especially since installation has accepted the built in bios keys - but is this correct?)

Don't know everything if the recovery will install in legacy mode, try and see.

Install a different copy of the same version do not cancel the warranty. However sometimes HP will require you to reinstall OS original to avoid the possibility of problems or if you need warranty service. Don't forget to burn your defined recovery disk before destroying the origianl OS.

You can also find it advantageous to burn them to dvd or save to hard drive USB external your C:\SwSetup file with drivers and software provided on the original laptop. Save a lot of time to download on another computer and transfer it later.

  • Want to go back for Win 7 after the installation of Win 8

    Hello!

2 years ago, I bought a toshiba laptop satellite L series.
It came with a win7 64 bit os and a folder HDDRecovery on hard disk, no cd.

I have used this cover several times before, no problem with that.

Then I bought 8 Win and installed on my computer, removal of Win7.
But I want to go back to Win7.

I tried to press 0 at the beginning for the recovery, but it did not work. Pressing 0 will not activate HDDRecovery

In addition, F8 at startup no longer works with the advanced startup options. I tried to copy all the contents of the folder HDDRecovery on a usb key and start with that, but he said: "no operating system found, displug all devices and restart etc.»

So, the problem is, I can't use HDDRecovery. It is a record around 8 GB. I have it, but can not activate the recovery.

    I hope some1 can help

    Thank you

    Hello

Looks like you made a BIG mistake because you have not created the recovery din mentioned user manual disc / reminder on screen, etc.

The fact is that recovery of HARD drive was an option of additional recovery next to recovery disk but drive HARD recovery does NOT work after the HARD drive has been formatted, modified or another operating system installed.

If not, you have just one option: you have to order a recovery disc that contains Win 7

  • Do not want to save games on Win 8

I play board games (Solitaire) on 8 to win.  I don't want to save a game.  I play, win/lose and go.  It's just to make me think a little bit every day.  How can I keep it savings?  Vista has a command.  Of course, Vista, the games were just another icon on the desktop.  1000 times better.  I can't connect to my Microsoft account to play, I do not use xbox, or one of these other garbage.  Thanks for any help.

    Hi George,.

    ·         Are play you Solitaire on Windows application in modern UI or office?

    ·         You use Microsoft Solitaire Collection app?

Unfortunately, you cannot change the settings to save the game in Solitaire Microsoft app, it comes by default design.

If you use third-party Solitaire app, that I suggest you contact their support site and check.

  • Just bought the D7000, you want tips, MacBook Pro, or Win 7 64 bit

I just purchased a D7000 and I try to update my PC for photo with Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom work. Looking for feedback from experienced users. What's better, MacBook Pro or Win 7 64 bit?

It is difficult to get reliable information on which platform Lightroom is more likely to work better, as Adobe would say "works equally well on both" and most individuals have personal biases that clouds objectivity (for example, users have just not enough data points to make a curve, so to speak).

I have used Lightroom on both platforms, but can't say which is better, except:

The Windows version supports hotkeys to access menu, which makes the plugin uses a lot easier (Mac version does not). In addition, some plugin functions (not a lot) do not work on Mac because of this.

Also (I'm a plugin author) there are some inefficiencies in the implementation of Windows of the plugin infrastructure which make me wonder if the Lightroom software has a gap of Mac under the hood - but I don't know. However, there are some anomalies in the implementation of Mac of the infrastructure of plugin that make it difficult to program plugins to work as well - for example, the edited text fields are not until a button click is treated, so have buttons that do things with freshly entered text can be challenging - there are workaround solutions , but not always viable and a plugin author should know about this, remember, code and test for her... And Mac users should be aware that they may need to tab to a text field before clicking on a button that treats the text ...

In any case, in the larger scheme of things, I think that the differences are relatively minor, and the big question is: what platform you want to use for the 'other' things still Lightroom.

PS - It can be a little more potential for problems on the Windows platform due to the wide variety of hardware and drivers that could have funny interactions, but these are corner cases...

Lightroom works fine on my Mac and on my Windows machine (much better on the new that older machine), but the opening acts barely at all on my Mac (relatively recent) (sloooooooow), but others do not have same problem... go figure...

    See you soon,.

  • How is it difficult to remove Win 8 h9 WANT Phoenix computer and install Win 7 Home Premium?

How difficult is it to remove a Windows 8 OS preinstalled on a new computer from h9 WANT Phoenix and replace it with Windows 7 Home Premium OS? Does anyone do this? If so, what kind of problems face?  In addition, you have all of the recommendations regarding this?  Where did you buy the Windows 7 program.  I am interested to do a clean install of Windows 7 Edition family on a HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1355 computer.

You must DISABLE 'Secure Boot' and ENABLE 'Legacy Support' in the BIOS, then save these changes. The next time you start, you enter the code provided to accept the previous changes. You must start the Windows7 as UEFI media to install Windows 7 on the GPT partitioned hard disk factory. You can buy a copy of Windows 7 with a valid key to install it.

The drivers below should do the trick, if you are bent on installing Windows 7.

Intel Download Center (Use the Intel driver update utility to scan your system for drivers up to date automatically and install it quickly).

AMD display driver (except HD 7770 is highly customized by HP)

    Broadcom wireless network controller driver

    Driver Bluetooth HP

Qualcomm Atheros Customer Portal (select "Family AR816X drivers", "WIN AR816X Windows WHQL driver", use WinRAR or similar to extract)

Hauppauge ATSC/NTSC/QAM TV tuner (Maybe not the correct driver)

  • Reinstalling operating system on the HP laptop which has Vista, Win 7 family Premium and Windows 7 Pro installed.

I have a HP Pavilion 6500 CTO (?) vintage 2008 model.  It came with Vista Premium. It is the only time that I forgot to make a recovery disk, but there is a sort of drive partitioned D that could be disaster recovery.  Anyway. .. . . .

I made one of the first Windows 7 Premium Upgrade downloads (I still have the right to download a backup).  I also bought 6 months later any when upgrading to Windows 7 Pro.

I would like to donate this laptop to a member of the family, so I would like to start with a clean slate of the operating system and drivers of origin if the wireless hardware and other works.  Two Questions

    1. If I create a recovery disc in the current state of the computer to have Win 7 Pro loaded, format the hard drive and then try to reinstall the OS from the recovery disk, which will load OS - Vista or Win 7 Pro?

    2. see question 1 - it is the best way to offer a new beginning for the system with a reformat and reinstall OS, or is there a better solution?  As I said, I don't have a recovery for the Vista operating system disk.

    Thanks in advance,

    W!

The question is a little more complicated.  When he restores the computer to the original state, it also roll back updates to the BIOS, or are those left intact? Why ask?  At the beginning, on this model of AMD, I had a fan / overheating issue that has been resolved by updating the bios to set when the fan on.  I might have to reinstall this update of the bios of HP!

«mark the recovery partition as "active" and reboot, it will then start this partition and start the Recovery Manager»

The bios will not be affected.

    Hello emc8

Try to use the Microsoft FixIt tool to uninstall applications. Microsoft FixIt can help when programs do not want to install or uninstall.
    1. download from the link below and run it. (Note for each program, you will need to rerun the Microsoft FixIt tool)
    2. asked about if you want to choose options or run automatically, choose "automatically".
    3. the next thing he'll ask is if the problem you are having with the install or uninstall. Select uninstall.
4 Microsoft FixIt will then list all the programs currently installed, and you can select the one you want to uninstall. Start with what ever you prefer.
    5. it should then proceed to uninstall the program. If you get the same message of error or an other error message / let me know.

  • Admin has no access to the user account

I have a XP Pro computer where a user profile directory has no access at all to administrators: only for himself and system.

Is this normal and supported? How can this be achieved?

When I create a new account on this computer, the profile directory allows access to administrators.

The problem is that I want to use some backup software that runs as administrator, so that it cannot properly access the user's data.

NT Backup of the Microsoft can save everything without problems.

I would so understand, I can ask the author of said software to backup to fix, or my setup is weird way and is.

    Thank you

    -pa

You could remove rights administrative account to any file or folder on the computer while you could do this for a profile.  If you leave rights system alone, Yes, the built-in backup function still works.

However, anyone with administrative rights could just as easily give themselves rights of return...

  • WANT H8-1569: cannot activate WIN 10

I had my HP ENVY again in the box for 2013 and decided to start to replace another PC who was dying.  He started by WINNING 8 (not 8.1) and was soon to do all the necessary updates to the current. I have not upgraded to 8.1 to WIN.

Before the break free WIN 10 update, I installed the upgrade and everything was fine until I saw the message that WINNING 10 needed to be activated. I had no WIN 8 product key, but used Majical Jellybean Keyfinder to get the key, but WIN 10 still would not turn on.  According to Win Support that I need to get a key for WIN 8 activate WIN 10, but the key in the bios was crushed by a 10 key WIN by default overwritten during the upgrade.

So is it possible around this so I can activate WIN 10 or is there a way I can get a WIN 8 key to solve this problem?

My other alternative is to buy 10 WIN and do a reinstall, but I would avoid it.

    Thank you.

    Peter6083

First of all, by itselfr, Windows is UNABLE to write to the UEFI firmware where the product key is installed; Therefore, there is no way that a Windows Setup would replace this key.  You must use the programming code of the special firmware (like the one provided with the updates to the BIOS) to change the firmware.

Second, MagicalJellyBean is not reliable to find OEM product keys, as it tends to report what he sees in the registry, and that is not always correct.

To find the integrated in the UEFI firmware OEM product key we this utility: Showkey - Windows 10 Forums

I was not able to reset my computer after that I upgraded from win 8 to 10 to win.  I tried the system restore and startup repair, got a message says "WDF_violation".

I also tried to restart the computer from a recovery disk on a USB hard drive that I created with Win 8. (I have successfully reset my computer with the same recovery disk before when my computer was still running under Win 8)

But that didn't work either. Computer rebooted just right back to win 10. It will not even read the hard drive.

I also repeated the same steps under safe mode, but it still doesn't work.

Exhausted the options in question.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you

If the device is able to go to menu Menu ESC and F9 as you mentioned in the previous post, so yes it is repairable, but if the unit is under warranty then careby HP, otherwise there could be a cost involved to get this repaired.

Try to call and verify the repair cost if the unit is out of warranty and then probably decide to go with another or to address this problem, but if its guarantee then please send in for repair.
