Keithley 2700 labview 8.6

Hi all!

I'm a newbie on labview

I would order my 2700 Keithley with GPIB.

The point is that I have no GPIB card for now and I would like to simulate before buying one.

Can someone help me? What should I start? I went on the keithley Web site and found a lot of pilots, but it seems that it is not suitable for Labview 8.6 but Labview 8.2.

  • How can I define a current source and measure voltage at given intervals of time using GPIB on a Keithley 2410 (LabView 7.1)?

    Hello

I use an old version of LabView 7.1 and a Keithley 2410 communicate via GPIB.

I want to do a simple program, sending a commando to the 2410 to source a current given, without interruption.

Then in the light of time intervals, I want to read the current tension for logging in a txt file. My idea is to do this

simply by sending orders to the Keithley 2410 stations. Could someone please give me a hint in the right

    direction to do?

I'm not very good at LabView, but have done some simple programs using USB - DAQ before.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks again for your help,

I understood that the reason why I did not have all the data (and that the 2410 a frozen/hung) was that in vi GPIB READ, I did not specify the number of bytes to be read, and it didn't have a default value.

After adding a constant to this entry, everything worked like a charm.

Thank you for your recommendation on the * CLS command.

  • Convert Keithley pilot (labview 5.1)

    Hello.

I'm trying to control "Keithley 2400" using Labview 8 on Windows XP.

But, the labview program I've used before is based Labview 5.1 on Windows 98.

LabVIEW 8 see the error, "cannot convert the old vi.

Someone help me to convert the Keithley (Labview 5.1) driver for me.

Former Ke24xx.dll and the Ke24xx.LLB are attached. These files are for Labview 5.1

    Thank you in advance.

You should be able to open the VI with 8.0. Are you sure it's the version you are using? You should also think about using version 8.0 of the driver here. You will probably need to change your existing code that uses the driver, but you will have a native LabVIEW driver instead of a bunch of dll calls.

In any case, here is the llb in 7.1.

  • Possible GPIB communication through interactive control of Visa, not with Labview

    Hello

I have a communication problem with Labview with GPIB instruments (with functions of visa).

    I get:

"Error 1073807298 occurred at the VISA opening

    Possible reasons:

"VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003E) failed to perform operation due to i/o error."

However, it works with an interactive control visa and this is where I am confused!

    Here is my setup:

    -Labview 2011 assessment

    -VISA 5.1.2

KUSB - 488B with the associated drivers (adapter USB to GPIB of Keithley)

Because I can speak with my instruments in visaic, I guess the installation of drivers for the Keithley interface is ok.

Trace IO NOR I see beeing of commands passed through Labview to VISA so that they "see" between them.

I found a thread where someone had the same problem and its solution was downgrade to Labview 8.5.1, which is not possible for me.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/Keithley-2700-driver-problems/TD-p/1474212/PA...

You have an idea to solve this problem?

    Kind regards

    Baptist

    Here's a follow-up on this issue.

I tried with Labview 32-bit on main machine: it works.

The pleasure is that I have to use Labview 64-bit.

So the ultimate solution is now to run a client and a server of visa on the machine: Labview 32 bit can directly access my resources GPIB, Labview 64-bit must go through the closure of the network.

  • Keithley 2601 - VISA READ 0xBFFF0015 (VI_ERROR_TMO)

    Dear people,

I hope you can help me with this problem which has been haunting me for days. Please excuse me if it's a rookie mistake, as I have no experience with LabVIEW.

I'm trying to control a 2601 Keithley uses LabVIEW drivers provided by the manufacturer (http://www.tek.com/source-measure-units/2635-software/keithley-series-2600-2600a-2600b-native-labvie...).

The connector I use is a NI GPIB/USB and communication seems to work well with interactive control of NI-VISA, writing and reading the output of "* IDN? "\n" perfectly:

    1: write operation (* IDN? \n)

    Back County: 6 bytes

    2: read operation
    Back County: 54 bytes
    Keithley\sInstruments\sInc.,\sModel\s2601,\s1078308,\S1.1.1\n

When you try to run the example 'KE26XX factory Pulse Usage.vi' However, after having managed the initialization of the device and to write a series of settings, it still shows error 0xBFFF0015 (VI_ERROR_TMO) in the CITATION READ in 'Config Pulse V measure I.vi':

I had that before with a serial cable, so I changed the thought of GPIB/USB it re-establishes a possible problem of TermChar. Does not work, the error is still the same. I tried to add a wait function with up to 5 after the WRITE VISA, without success. Tried to increase the number of bytes to READ VISA, without success. Tried to manually add "\n" to the string of Scripture, without success.

    Using Windows 7 Enterprise, LabVIEW 2014 SP1 f3, NI-VISA 15.5, OR-488. 2 15.5.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Diego

It looks like to, this is caused by something else. The other cause of VISA time-out for a tester is usuaully when you call a VI to do certain things which need more steps to take before calling them. For example, you may need to call one another VI Keithly to initialize the device and then put it in a certain mode, configure something using an another VI then call the Subvi. If you do not follow such a sequence, you can ask something that the instrument is not able to do and so he will not respond and will trigger a timeout. To do this, you will need to consult the manual of the instrument, Keithly examples or try to contact their support.

  • Problem between Labview and Melanie 2602

    Hello world

I think my question is a bit silly, but I really don't know what the problem is. I just want to read my current solar cell by changing the level of my blood to get an IV curve, which is normally pretty easy. So, I created a loop, where I increase my voltage step by step, and used a function named VI from Labview library that connects the Keithley and Labview together, "Keithley 2600 Series.lvlib: Source Level.vi. I start at 0 and increase by 0.01 volt each time. If I use execution of climax, I see clearly the value is correct, and if I go inside the SourceLevel VI, I clearly see the command string: "smub.source.levelv = 1.6," for example, if I want to put my voltage at 1.6V. The attached picture shows a part of my code.

Despite all this, it is clear that the Keithley does not react properly. It only works v of v 1V, 2V, 3V, etc... but never the values between. My IV curves are ok to read the Isc, but no VOCS. Never happened to any of you? I would be really happy to understand what I'm doing wrong, because it seems easy enough to solve. :/

    Thank you very much!

It is quite difficult to debug a picture of a tiny part of the code.

But I'll take what I see.  Your constant shows a 0.01 (comma).  So I guess that you are in a country that uses a comma instead of a decimal point.  I don't see what is happening inside the code Keithly, but I'll make an assumption that he made some conversions where it is expected that the comma is a period.

Look closely at the code Keithly and see if that explains it.  Try to set your PC to use a period for the decimal point and try to re-run your code and see if it works better.  It is possible that Keithly conversion uses a system, rather than setting using a decimal point, which is that your sentence says it's sending.

  • Advanced management of errors

    Hi all

I develop a system to a LabView application extensive error handling, unfortunately I can't call his goal because of confidentiality.

I graduated just for my university degree in applied physics, and so I am quite experienced with LabVIEW (obtained in basic 1, 2 and 3).

The technique of synchronization used is a command producer/consumer queue manager. The test facility is to come out the following equipment:

    -Multimeter Keithley 2700

    -A Lock-in SR830 Stanford

-863 FT-Mercury (Controller Z-step, to go up and down)

    - NI DAQ 6244

    My Question is:

How can you ensure that you cover most of the errors with your application of error handling? What would be a good approach to find all possible errors that might occur during the measurement?

For example: I could unplug the K2700 and start the application, then a VISA error is more likely to occur. I could cut the power to the equipment and start the application and see what error would happen then.

Is there some sort of general rule to find the possible errors that may occur in the implementation?

Thanks for your response in advance.

    AHA! Found: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-20726

I think it was the conception that I tried to find earlier because it gives information on the actual strategies for dealing with errors and to declare against just how over son of error and mistake General Manager.

In regards to your response, you must think about the grouping of sections of code and say to yourself "what would happen if an error occurs here. You will probably eventually identify the sticking points in your code (for example at the end of a case)

    A few examples:

-For initialization, if a device fails to initialize, you should try again and if so, how many times before giving up? Should allow the user try to reconfigure the device

-If you use a queue-based architecture and the reference is destroyed

You end up having to analyze your code and say "what to do if...?" a lot!

I think that mistakes boil until something like the following:

-Critical application errors: a Terminal mistake caused by a software bug such that accidentally release a reference to a primary. In this case you will need to close the software, but you should report or record some information to help you debug the issue remotely!

-Device errors: could not initialize, missing device, interruption of the connection, the incorrect configuration - software cannot work normally, but you may continue to try to re - initialize or allow the user to try to change the settings rather than quit the application.

-Errors, user: user a bad configured something like entered in an invalid path or by selecting a wrong file (type, format, etc.)-in this case, you should probably notify the user and let them try again.

-Known errors: errors that you expect may arise such as the creation of a folder that already exist - these would be generally ignored or dealt with in a case structure. Another example of this is mistakes on 'Close' subVIs in your output folder (the device could never be initialized or may have already closed)

You are never able to catch every single mistake (and it is not possible to see all the errors of a VI could produce, and you can generate your own mistakes), but you should try to handle correctly (& rectify) errors that are most likely to occur (such as loss of connection to a device because someone tripped over a serial cable) and leave the other errors to your general manager.

You also want to think about the experience for the end user of your software - something that the presentation link above mentions. Chances are that the average user is not going to be able to understand the error codes LabVIEW and is disappointed if the software just stops on launch because a device is missing.

There is no Holy Grail of error handling/reporting - it's something I'm always reading/learning and try to apply as much as I can in my applications!
