LabVIEW oop build warining!

Hello!

I write a labview program with the method of OOP (object oriented programming), and the program is very well. But when I build to exe, the manufacturer of labview display warning message: "LabVIEW has prevented a file name collision during the build. Names of duplicate files can be copied to the same destination. You can rename the files as part of the build process to avoid name conflicts. »

I know it's certant this file duplicate name when to use 'Class', and how I can display the warning message when build.

Pre-LabVIEW 2009 EXE has a flat directory.  All controls in the screw and outbuildings were in an EXE file and there is no record in this EXE.  For this reason, you cannot have 2 files in your project with the same name (because they can't go in the same directory without overwriting a).  From 2009 to fix it NOR allowed EXEs have directories so screws can have the same name on disk, but in memory, they can have a different name, by adding the class, or the name of the library itself.  So you can have PowerSupply.lvclass:Init.vi and CAN.lvclass:Init.vi both disk just as Init.vi

In the new versions of LabVIEW, you can use the old file structure by defining the Layout 8.x to true in the specification to build the EXE file (under Advanced), but you really want to do because of the collision problem you see.

EDIT: and it seems that your code has been registered in 8.6 before the existence of this feature.

  • LabVIEW oop variant in the private class data

    Hello

    I'm new to LabVIEW OOP.

Is there a way to get a control of type variant in the 'grouping of private class data"for a class? If not, is there an alternative for handeling given variant? I use LV 2013.

    Thank you.

Just, you use a control of type variant, and put in the big giant cluster.  It's the same for any other data type.  Is there a specific problem that you run into?

  • Are LabVIEW OOP "Helpers" editable?

I am finally 'byting the bullet' and try to refactor one of my projects using LabVIEW OOP (seems to me ideal for OOP-ify).

But I have a few "picky questions."  I don't always like how LabVIEW ' ' help me.  Some things that I can change (such as the default value, the class icon), and I do.

But others I would change to conform to my own personal style.  Here's an example - create a new VI to access data members.  Works very well, but the terminals of the error are named 'error (no errors)' and 'error', while I use "error in" and "Mistake Out" (notice the controls money also use the 'prettiest' names this last).  While I think of it, what happens if I want to use Silver (or system or even classical) controls?

Another thing is that I try to "encourage" me to use the revision history by activating the Option "question a comment during recording a VI.  Whenever you create a new VI for... There seems to be a lot of 'save' past in the background because I need to click 'OK' (for backups to Historylv_icon.lvlibp) several times.

Are the (I assume scripting) processes used to help available and editable?  I realize that if I start messing around, I could create a mess, but that's why re - install has been invented!  If this isn't the case, I'll just smile and work around it.

  • LabVIEW 2009 Build Path problem

    [Cross posted from LAVA]

I got a code that worked fine on my home PC, when I moved to work, the exe would not build due to errors.

Return errors are not good to explain the problem

    Until I got this one:

Look at the path of the error:

    C:\Users\Developer2\Desktop\User group Meeting\LabVIEW 2009 new features\code\02 intermediate\01 build specifications\build file executable application. exe\LabVIEW 2009\vi.lib\addons\_ICON Library\String\_icon_lib_string.llb 9.0\my paths\dist\application

This path refers to a VI inside of my executable!

Maybe it's a bigger problem than I first thought

    So my question is:

If a path inside my building that would be compared to the executable and LabVIEW must resolve, could fail, this process, depending on where the exe is located in a folder hierarchy?

I guess it could have happened before? but it would be more probable now due to longer paths!

  • Application in Labview 2010 Builder

I can build an exe, but he let me only add high level llb labview vi, some of the sub - vi are added because it will be held the 2nd level vi and then it gives me an error when I try to run the 3rd level vi. The problem is that I do not see the Subvi to add them in the library!

OK, thanks, but I inherrited files and massive software upgrade to the version it was written in! A law degree used to be the only way to create applications!

I phoned tech support who have solved my problem. :-)

I created a new project, * led * the llb in 'my computer' in the project and then added the file than the generation of the exe and the support files "always included; If you keep the file names / short files, it works!

I hope that this stops someone else pulling the hair!

  • Migrating to labview vision Builder... Many VI

    Hello

I use the latest version of labview and OR vision builder. Using Vision builder get the coordinates X and Y of the object in this area. I need to export this to labview. I tried going in "Migrating to labview. I created a new folder then I gave the name. When I click OK. It creates many VI. I need this in VI only. When I opened the "main.VI", I see that "make, start." When I check the block diagram. I couldn't find the programe I needed for it.

    Hope you understood my question.

    Can you please help me.

    Thanks in advance

Another option, which could be used in conjunction with the API mentioned Christophe solution is to your X / Y values the variables that you update your VBAI inspection and then read in your code LV. Here's a tutorial on the use of shared variables to communicate the results to the LV of the VBAI:

The really strange thing is that I'm using LabVIEW 2011SP1, I don't even have installed LabVIEW 2013, not even the runtime.

Where is the problem? Why is he still complain about LabVIEW 2013? Anyone seen this before?

    Troy,

This behavior makes me assume that you updated certain components from the past. There are drivers of OR who use LV components (e.g., AFAIK the DAQmx of Test panels).

Update you things? If Yes, why don't you LV 2013 RTE installed as it would be necessary for full functionality of the driver?

  • problems with labview 2013 build specification

I have a few screws of LV2010 I want to use to create an application to run with RTE2013. I have LV2013 on my computer.

Without a massive compilation of the LV2010 screws, the element of selection of source files in the build specification has no project file to choose and it won't allow me to go looking for.

    Any ideas why this happens?

    Thank you

Right, you must create a project and put in all of the screws to be included in the compilation - including one that is the top-level VI. Once this is done, you can save the project, just not to re-record the EIS.

Now you should be able to define your spec to build according to normal.

  • By comparing the LabVIEW OOP class hierarchies

    Hi all

    The Question

Does anyone know of a tool for comparing the hierarchies of LabVIEW classes?  (As 'Compare VI hierarchies' for .lvclass hiearchies?)

    For example

Let's say I have foo.lvclass in both projects, and I want to compare the two instances, and their respective members.  One instance has methods that the other is not?  Is a method or differ from private data?

    Why?

I have several applications with dozens of classes, which many must be interchangeable, and I want to quickly determine what classes are later, perhaps to consolidate some common code base.

I thought about this announcement as a suggestion on the exchange of ideas, but I didn't know if I just don't see a feature that is already there.

    Thank you very much

    Jim

    Hi Jim,.

It doesn't seem to be a way to do this. The nearest feature of you, that I could find was to use hierarchies of VI screw/compare compare to compare files .ctl for two classes. The LabVIEW help topic documents how to proceed:

    http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361L-01/lvhowto/comparing_vis/

However, this does not really reach the feature you're looking for. Thank you for posting this idea to the exchange of ideas!

  • Building appiications with labview

    Hello

I have 'Labview Professional Development System '.

Is it true that I can use this version to generate stand-alone exe for windows files?

Why could I need the "Labview Application Builder" which, as a separate serial number for installation?

    Is it the same?

    Thank you

    Hello

ProfDevSystem is the 'version' with AppBuilder included, so you can create exe and DLLs.

Why could I need the "Labview Application Builder" which, as a separate serial number for installation?

    Don't know.

Updated since another LabVIEW package (Basic, full)? Did you buy the AppBuilder as an add-on for this "downgrade"?

You know that you can discuss the problems of license with your local sales guy?

    Hello

How can I build a program in LabVIEW 8.6?

Then, you use the application builder.  It comes with the edition of professional development of LabVIEW, or an add-on to the Full Development Edition or the basic edition.

You must create a project file with your VI.  Search the help of LabVIEW for 'building a stand-alone Application '.  Also search the forums on the subject.  It is repeated several times before.
