LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 2 incompatible drive with Mac mini?

Hi all-

Well, I bought a new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 2 3 TB Lord drive for use with my mac min (mid 2011).  I've used several external drives Seagate Thudnerbolt (1) with the mini (with my monitor beyond chain) without problem.  However when I stop upacked the new LaCie, and plugged my mini and starting chaos ensued.  I have a strong internal drive satate and starting in about 12 seconds.  With the LaCie, it takes nearly a minute and a half.  Then, when the pointer moves the mouse, clicking on does nothing.  After 14 minutes click finally takes effect and seems to operate normally afterwards.

I closed and returned to my old Seagate Thunderbolt 1 drive and it works fine.  I swapped the cables thunderbolt and used another well-known cable.  I had command of cable on the Thunderbolt of LaCie ports.  I disconnected the monitor of the Thudnerbolt chain and run the drive only.  All to nothing does not.  The LaCie is supposed to be good on system 10.6.8 and later, I am running 10.7.5.

Anyone know of problems with the current crop of drives LaCie Tunderbolt with Mac mini?  Thanks - Randy

If you have to restart, search before the journal entry that begins with BOOT_TIME since it is the first line of a startup

That is right. The requires iTunes 12.3.3 and in order to get it, you will need to update OS X to El Capitan. That's how Apple has created for better or worse, I'm sorry.

  • Scan does not work with Mac Mini Maverick

Just got a new Mac Mini Maverick.  While the printer (HP Officejet 4500 Wireless) works very well, the scanner does not at all. The installer downloaded the appropriate driver, but the scanner is disabled. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hello Chata3,

    Welcome to the forums,

I understand that you are unable to scan from your wireless Officejet 4500 to your Mac with the Mavericks.

There is no comprehensive driver features available for this model of printer with the Mavericks, which is probably the reason why you are facing this problem. There are, however, bypass the options for you to scan.

  • Apple TV with Mac Mini question

I'm looking into getting an older Mac mini to use as a server for my 4th generation, Apple TV, when I went with my laptop.  I understand that El Captain can be installed in a Mac Mini it's early 2009 or earlier, but since I don't use it as a computer I'm not to care of that!  I was wondering if anyone new how old of a Mac Mini, I could get and have even the Apple TV to be able to see the Mac mini as a server with my media in the iTunes library.  I didn't know that if this type of connection would be lost forever, but wanted to make sure before you buy.  I guess the Min Mac must have at least an Intel processor.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Magic keyboard doesn't work don't perfectly with Mac-mini mid 2011

I am running the latest version of El Capitan (OS 10.11)

    The system version: OS X 10.11 (15A279b)
    Kernel version: Darwin 15.0.0
    Apple Bluetooth software: 4.4.0f4 16320

These correspond to the requirements of Magic Keyboard (Mac computer compatible Bluetooth with v10.11 OS X or later) according to Apple documentation official http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MLA22LL/A/magic-keyboard-us-english

If I followed the instructions to connect the keyboard up via Thunderbolt, the keyboard works partially. I can type via Bluetooth.

However, I can't use the volume buttons to control the sound. When I try to assign or reassign the buttons, I discovered that I can't 'see' the keyboard in Control Panel.

So, I find it very strange and of course disappointing. I can use Bluetooth, but not make the best use of the characteristics of the material. So sorry to say this, but it feels more like Linux where drivers regularly can make full use of the material and do not like Apple where it should all be integrated from top to bottom.

The ideas or support would be appreciated.

PS I have the same problem with the new Magic Trackpad. So it's more than 200 euros for the minimum functions

If I followed the instructions to connect the keyboard up via Thunderbolt,

It be USB to lightning, Thunderbolt.

Check that this block is not checked. You can also try to check it out and then unchecking it.

PS You should also upgrade to the current version of El Capitan, 10.11.2, build 15 c 50. Updates cover a lot of previous bugs and problems. "15A279b" is not the latest version.

  • Upgrade hard drive Mac Mini end of 2012.

I7 clocked at 2.6 ghz 16 GB ram...

Fusion car again, noted that, once 128 GB ssd was that full, there was no real advantage to the merger. I decided (possible foolishly) to do an upgrade.

Installed 500 GB Samsung evo 850 ssd, wd 1 TB of storage. (no merge)

Set up own of El Capitan with bootable USB drive. Everything is good so far except noticed mini heater, exhaust fan works not!

take off cover, plug verified, it was well set, leading fan and he continued running.

Everything seemed so finished installation and got replacement as precautionary measure fan and equipped.

More than three weeks a couple of other strange events, two or three times at the start, progress bar would get to halfway, empty display outside and nothing more occur. Force shutdown, reboot and everything ok again.

The fan has stopped when the mini went to sleep once or twice, reboot has solved sometimes. Reset the PRAM again.

Over the past three days several times, fan stopped at startup, reset the SMC seems to fix the problem. All connectors are good. I have followed with Imenus and more recently THPro, when the fan stops it is reported to be clocked at 650 RPM!

I searched this problem, a person finds that remove the original drive on mac mini stopped fan altogether, substituting the original 'apple drive"and and the fan works fine! that makes no sense to me, but the Samsung in car that belonged the 128 GB ssd my original merger was coded firmware to it was "Apple."

The Evo 850 does not report temperature through the chip, I don't see that this would lead to good questions?

Don't know where I'm going with this, I could replace the original 'Apple readers' and see what is going on, at least I could forget a possible crude oil on a fire. Should I reinstall and do a fusion drive (can't see that it would make a difference)

I took everything public static precautions, taken my time replace the disks and it went smoothly without a hitch...

If anyone can suggest anything, I would be very grateful.

  • HP w2207h monitor: HP monitor crashes if connected to the Mac Mini

My w2207h monitor works fine connected to 2 computers. A Dell laptop connected with a cable HDMI and a Fujitsu PC connected with VGA cable. I spend between the 2 with the menu key of monitors and the function 'change the video input '. However, I just buy a Mac Mini and connected via HDMI but now, pass the VGA to HDMI causes the monitor to crash/power down. Even the light around the power button goes off and nothing works. To relight the monior screen, the only way is to disconnect the cable from power for a few minutes. The monitor works with an another old laptop connected via HDMI as doeas the Mac Mini connected to an old television set. I thought HDMI HDMI was, but this monior dislikes my Mac. Any ideas?

Thanks for the information Dunidar. A long session, running tests with Apple confirmed that this monitor does not work with Mac Mini. The only solution was to buy a new monitor :-(

  • Drive external DRIVE with Boot Camp Win8.1 only recognized by a Mac?

I need to create a HARD drive containing Windows 8.1 for a retina 2015 13 "MacBook Pro with a small SSD.

If I understand correctly, Boot Camp wouldn't install Windows on what be it external. I used a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 "and the Boot Camp Assistant used to partition the internal drive and 8.1 Windows Installer from a DVD. I then removed the freshly Boot Camp a HARD drive internal, put it in a caddy and replaced the HARD internal drive with a new installed OSX one, and all is well. When I hold Alt 2012 the MacBook Pro at the start with my new external (the Boot Camp'd HARD drive in a caddy) plugged, I offer the 1) internal drive, 2) external OSX partition and finally 3) partition Windows 8.1. Windows starts successfully and works very well.

My problem is that when I plug the external HDD bootcamp in the 13 "2015 MacBook Pro of the retina, which I did because the Windows partition is not given as an option at startup. It offers only the internal SSD flash disk and partition OSX from the outside. The same is true when I plug it into a 2010 27 "iMac, a 15 2105" MacBook Pro or a 2011 13 "MacBook Pro.

I plugged on an any other MacBook Pro 2012 with a technique that is identical to the one I did the Boot Camp disk on and it works fine! Then why will offer to boot Windows on the computers of an identical to the technique that I have created the disk on? After, that means the only way I can create an external bootable Windows drive uses the same method, but with a PCIe SSD and it can be created in the machine, I want to use it with?

Anyone with any experience of this or any idea that I would appreciate your thoughts! Thank you.

1 Windows-to-Go is part of Windows Enterprise, which is not supported on your Mac.

    2. the drivers on the Windows installation are specific to a MBP 2012. Unless you create a generic Windows without specific hardware drivers, it will not work across different HW Macs.

    3. moving W8.1 with EFI Boot and the MBR are two different scenarios. You can also alter your BCD that leads to new problems.

HP it guys, this site is very difficult to navigate. I couldn't yet find my own question in the forum until someone posted a response. And then, the layout of the answer was so cluttered, I wasn't sure what part could be an answer from him or just more links leading to pages across the site.
