Lack of Cookies folder

The cookies folder was located always on my computer under C: Documents and Settings/myusername/Cookies.   The folder disappeared completely, and it is not located by using the search function for files and folders.  (Only the cookies Administrator folder appears in a search.)    Recently, I upgraded my browser from IE6 to IE8.  I had some problems with IE8, I so uninstalled and installed IE7 instead.   It's the only thing I've done recently in the cookies folder disappeared except for run CCleaner.  When I run CCleaner, I don't have it delete cookies, because I would go myself in the cookies folder, and delete them selectively.  That's what I was going to do today after running CCleaner when I discovered that he was missing the cookies folder.

The fixed.   In Windows Explorer, the Cookies folder knew is, even using the search function.  However, I went to the address in Windows Explorer bar and put in C: \Documents and Settings\myusername\Cookies.  The 'magical' Cookies folder reappeared.  I do not understand why it disappeared in the first place, but at least I know now how to get it back.

Somehow, I deleted my index.dat in the Cookies folder.  How do I get it back and I really need?

    Hello

    • What was the location of the folder where you deleted it go?
The index.dat file is a database file. This is a repository of information such as web URLS, search queries, and files recently opened. Its purpose is to allow quick access to the data used by Internet Explorer. For example, all visited web addresses are stored in the index.dat file, which allows to find quickly the AutoComplete match as long as the user types an Internet Explorer web address. The index.dat file is specific to the user and is open as long as a user is connected Windows. Separate index.dat files exist for the history, cache and cookies in Internet Explorer.
The index.dat file is never resized or deleted. A large index.dat file can affect the performance.

Note: The .dat extension is commonly used for data files (files that are not readable by humans and not to hold a binary based on documents). It is possible to find named "index.dat" files that are not used by Internet Explorer.

Toolbar start fast is the only app that has problems.  I can't start him because I have no permissions.  As this occurred, the Application Data folder somehow finished in the Cookies folder for this account.  It cannot be carried over to the location appropriate without disabling the Quick Launch toolbar.

    Hello

probably you lost the connection to your ESX host. You can configure mappings for the VM that has a problem. Select the Protection Group-> the computers view virtual VM and configure Protection for VMS that do not have the mapping, or you can re - create the inventory maps and select "Configure everything" for PG with this virtual machine.

    Hope this helps,

  • Cannot access the Cookies, the "Access denied" message folder in Vista

I had problems with my computer for some time now. Various problems such as being not able to install updates for one reason or another (I think I got that one without screw it too many other top! haha)

The question I have now is with my Cookies folder. It is said there (C:\Users\---\Cookies) "is not available"... "" Access denied ".  Why is this and how to "reconquer" access? And how, all of a sudden, what happened? A person may delete something, they shouldn't have? Or Whaat?  Aaah!

    * original title - Cookie file: ACCESS DENIED - has had no trouble with her before! What is going on? *

The C:\Users\---\Cookies file is a hidden, protected from the operating system that is not intended to be accessible to users.

To be more precise, it is a junction point that points to the folder that is accessible to the user C:\Users\---\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

  • Is it possible to connect my bookmarks, history, cookies for an online account as in chrome. You won't ever lose their.

I was always a firefox user, but has recently done a reinstall of windows and had to manually write all my favorites because last time I re installed windows, add it on it had to back up and restore the bookmark simply failed to do and I lost all my favorites. I discovered that chrome remembered all my favorites, cookies, history and settings via my google account. This feature of chrome is very important for me because my favorites keep track of all my work and important sites.

I don't want to risk losing this vital information, so I am forced to use chrome now.

I would suggest that it be a feature in firefox somehow. Perhaps users could have a mozzila account that stores the bookmarks and history automatically for access to any other computer through a log in option.

import bookmarks in a new instance of firefox would be as simple as an import of account mozzila button-press.

If a mozzilla account is unsustainable so maybe a link to a count dropbox or something like that might work.

The problem I have with firefox now is simply that my data is stored locally and are always at risk of permanent loss. In fact I lost data about firefox 3 times in the past.

You can save bookmarks, passwords and upward to 60 days of history using the Firefox Sync Services. I don't think it puts all your cookies, but the cookies for the tabs that you used during your last session are saved with your session data. Sync is not perfect, and you should keep a copy of your key synchronization or the key to recovery somewhere elsewhere on your computer because you have it if you lose your installation of Firefox and you want to synchronize with this account against from a newly installed Firefox.

    More info in these articles:

Because synchronization is a copy of the end-to-real-time, it is always a good idea to make backups of your Firefox settings periodically. This way, if you notice something important lack, as a folder of bookmarks, you'll have something a little older you may be able to recover these.

  • Cookies.SQLite set ReadOnly, it disappeared when I went to undo read-only

    =

See the solution at the end of this post

    =

You do not now know what I tried to accomplish with this approach, in Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox 23 than my current browser version. Whether, there no desired effect, Firefox will not save the session cookies.

I have these files in my profile from 'cookies' in the name:

    cookies.SQLite.bak
    cookies.SQLite.bak - reconstruction
    cookies.SQLite - shm
    Cookies-sqlite-wal

I was going to ask this question, and glancing in the profile to see what I have here, I closed Firefox and renamed cookies.sqlite.bak cookies.sqlite. Open Firefox and I see the lack of cookies.sqlite and again, there is a cookies.sqlite.bak.

This time, when the browser is opened on this issue pending, I copied cookies.sqlite.bak to cookies.sqlite.bak (copy) and renamed that cookies.sqlite. It has the permissions to read / write and it remains to be seen what happens when I close the browser and reopen it.

My privacy setting is set to accept all cookies, including third parties and to reject cookies when I close Firefox.

CookieMonster is used to replace Firefox default for sites where I want to accept cookies so that I can keep the site preferences or to stay connected. CookieMonster is not obeyed, the cookies are ignored.

    ==

    Solution

    ==

Based on the response in the third post in the thread, since the two top lines of post of Cor - el, I cleared my problem with just deleting all files with 'cookies.sqlite' at the beginning of their names, close and restart Firefox. Firefox restored all the names, and the new cookies.sqlite has the permissions to read / write without my definition.

Tab of confidentiality under Edit > Preferences:
Firefox is configured to use the custom settings for the story, and I accept all cookies, including third-party and keep them until I close Firefox.

I use the add-on CookieMonster to override this default setting on some sites, so I can keep their cookies from one session to another, which saves some site preferences and allows me to stay connected to my web site.

Back on the Privacy tab, clear history when Firefox closes, but in the settings, I don't understand cookies. (I included cache and the Web site offline data).

To include cookies here would cause Firefox clear all cookies at the end of the session, including those who save my site preferences and keep me connected via the settings in CookieMonster.

Have you tried to delete all the files cookies.sqlite and allow Firefox to create a new file?

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • file missing cookies

The cookie folder is not visible and the search will not conclude it, but I can see it by typing the location in my browser.

The problem is, Chkdsk will not fix this, and I can't access the file. This opens up a world of problems when I need to fix this error, so I can upgrade to Windows 7. Help, please!

I just ran the scan again. He said of the errors found, but could not be repaired.

This problem actually has nothing to do with internet explorer. It's the cookies folder that is corrupt in the Windows folder in roaming. The error file is in conjunction with the programs, that I try to run (AIM, Skype, so forth). Trying to enter the folder it says it's corrupt. I don't know what is the root of the problems or how to solve this problem, but these measures have not helped so far. Regarding the repair, I will try that next.
