LAN card missing in the device under network adapters Manager
Hello
I'm using Inspiron n4010. Recently, my hard drive failed, I replaced it with a new one and since then I am unable to connect to internet with my cable, although my wifi works well. Also when I tried to install the network drivers it says Setup can not find the Ethernet controller on your system. Kindly help.
Thanks in advance.
The NETWORK adapter is defective... What Windows is there is no NETWORK adapter so that the driver does not install.
Replacing the motherboard is a bit extreme for just a broken NIC. Its possible to get a USB cable to Ethernet:

My HP DVD/ROM does not appear in the device under my computer Manager or when I scan for readers, most of the time. Every now and then it will be visible and I can use it but 90% of the time it does not exist. I tried the regedit fix, nothing. I tried the program Microsoft Fix It, it tells me it cannot locate a DVD/ROM. I removed, cleaned and reinserted my DVD/ROM drive, but no difference. I tried everything, except the upgrade to Windows 7... who will be my last resort.
Hello gargoyle28m,
If your hardware is not detected to upgrade to Windows 7 is not a resolution. This issue may be caused if the DVD drive is faulty or connections loose on the mother board. You may need to check the connections. I suggest you check if the DVD drive works on another computer. You can contact the manufacturer of your computer to help you with this problem.

Satellite A200-1 has 9 (PSAE0): 3 yellow dots in the device under Win XP Manager
I can not use Vista, as most of my apps does not work. Back to XP Pro OK and added the drivers for Audio, Ethernet, video OK - only have 3 yellow dots in controller of N/W now - device mass storage, the Device Manager (although it works OK) and SM bus controller. Any ideas on solving them?
More big prob using FN keys especially for the display that I use a projector a lot of switching (F5). Could use the FN + F5 to switch to video ext but it will switch back until the reboot. Following the advice on this Forum installed to control drivers of and Hotkey Utility. What made it worse-, it can not pass again to display Ext. uninstalled the control and shortcut key via Control Panel but cannot uninstall the drivers of control - still cannot change the display.
(a) how can I remove control drivers so at least get some features (without having to reinstall XP)
(b) what is the real fix for this problem? It is no possible to ask Toshiba support directly (or at least I can't find it on their website rather tortuous!)
Someone, somewhere, I need to know what I can do!
Hello
Have you downloaded and used all the XP drivers available from the European pilot of Toshiba page?
On this page, you will be able to find all of the necessary XP drivers and installation instructions.
Please refer to installation instructions!Did you also install utility Intel chipset available on the Toshiba driver?
Please do it!Good bye

Question about the collection of NETWORK adapters for vMotion / VM vSwitch
Hello
We use vSphere Enterprise Edition 5.1.
We also create separate vSwitch for management / vMotion and VM.
Each vSwitch receives 2 network cards connected to the different switch for redundancy.
We would like to know is necessary to provide the collection of NETWORK adapters for these vSwitches? Currently, only enable us NIC Teaming for VM vSwitch only.
Thank you
VSwitch vMotion, we have 2 assigned NIC (nic2 and nic6) with 10 VLANS. NIC2 and nic6 are connected to 2 different physical switches.
Should I choose
(1) both are active
(2) both are assets + grouping of NETWORK cards?
Question - if there is only 1 VLAN, it seems that NIC Teaming is also not very useful unless we use 2 VLAN (Multi-NIC vMotion). Is this right?
If you use Multi-NIC vMotion, there is no need to have two different VLANS, all you need is depending on configuration
on your vMotion switch, please create two vmkernel port for vMotion with the same VLAN ID, but the grouping of NETWORK cards as below
vMotion_1 - VLAN ID: 10
Grouping of NETWORK cards
vmnic2 - active
vmnic6 - watch
vMotion_2 - VLAN ID: 10
vmnic6 - active
vmnic2 - watch

ESXi 3.5 U5 - best practices for the collection of NETWORK adapters
Hello
I'm using ESXi 3.5 U5 installed on a Dell PowerEdge R710.
This server has 4 NETWORK cards
I want team two network adapters to the default value 0 of the Virtual Switch.
What are the best practices to achieve this?

It depends on what you want to achieve. Fault tolerance, the aggregation?
Take a look at this document from VMware.
If you use your search engine of the day and throw it into the words "VMware ESX" and add circuits or consolidation, there will be some hits on various blogs showing solutions to different hardware (in collaboration with Cisco, HP switches).
Addition:
This page will also give you an overview of the different types of networking topics virtual.

Trying to count the number of network adapters on the virtual machines
Hi all
Have tried to create a script to simply count the number of network adapters in a virtual machine? In all honesty, don't have a clue where to start? I don't know there are a number of 'ownership' but can't seem to figure out how I can integrate this counting cards network
Thank you very MUCH in advance
Munster
Try this way
$vms = Get-VM foreach ($vm in $vms) { $vm | Select @{N = "VMName"; E = {$vm.name} }, @{N = "VMNICCount"; E = {$vm.Networkadapters.count} } }
Inside of the foreach loop, you select in each $vm name and County NIC.

MX40 and LAN - card cannot browse the internet
My name is Gbenga Ajayi of Nigeria. My problem is that I just bought a new Toshiba MX40 series and I ve have problem with him any time when I try to use to navigate. I was able to ping on the local host that is ping 127.0.0.1 and is sponsor and it can also ping another system in the same network, but based on an IP address, it can send packets, but does not receive any package, to the initial, it receives little I am stopped immediately.
But what I did the last time I gave the system an IP address, ping he and lunch the emote gateway i.e. I ping 10.0.0.1 and two packs of package and send the receiver was fine .but now my question is that what really the system but the people around me told me to throw the disc of recovery on it.
Please can one tell me what to do in others to use the system to navigate?[Edited by: admin on 9 July 05 08:40]
Dear Gbenga
Y at - it in my opinion, it is very important to identify any problems with the functionality of the network card. In my opinion, you should try to connect your device to the internet and check if the card works fine.
On the strength of your explanation, I guess the problem is configuration LAN. Please try to check the firewall settings and properties of LAN connection. If you reinstall the recovery DVDs unit the device will be installed clean. If you have only one partition data because all the data saved on the HARD drive will be lost.
Good luck!

I missed the Bios and updated the driver but it makes no difference
You're writing on the WLAN connectivity, right?
What model of laptop do you have?

Satellite R630 - 130 missing Webcam from the device after Win7 Update Manager
Computer laptop only 6 days in use. After that Windows 7 update integrated webcam just disappeared from the Device Manager and, as a result that does not work.
System just can not find. New drivers did not help, as well the default BIOS setting. I even restored the system 6 days back - nothing like Web camera in the Device Manager.
This problem is common on the Internet - but there is not a lot of information on Google.
Any ideas?
Hello
I really wonder why the OS cannot recognize the webcam? :|
Generally, if the driver or the software is not installed, you should see an unknown device, but as I understand your message, even this unknown device is not visible. What to say try upgrading the BIOS, I read somewhere in the forum that the BIOS update can be useful in such a situation.
If this is not enough, try the new OS installation (recovery of the laptop) and check if the webcam seems once again -

Update of the device: underlying operating system far can be updated?
I'm fighting to get my hands around the ability to update device, which is impressive, to be sure.
Let's say I have build devices following, all using the same application:
CentOS 5.3, Application version 3.0
CentOS 5.3, version 3.1 Application
CentOS 5.4, Application version 3.2
CentOS 6.0, version 4.0 Application
I know I could install #1 and update # 2 without any problems (other than those posed by part of my app, of course).
I expect that I could then update # 3 without problem, probably? I am not sure if RedHat/CentOS dot releases are something to the RPM level that can support the update.
A more interesting question would be - could I update #3 à #4? I doubt it, since I don't see that you can update CentOS 5. anything for CentOS 6. anything by just RPM installs, and it seems that the ability to update VMware Studio device is driven out of RPM. Although there might be something else that I have not yet triggered in my experiences.
What will happen if I ran #3 and looked for updates? He could direct me to #4? He would try to do and do not, work, or what?
Thanks a lot if someone knows about it. If there is a place I should read these things, I'd like a pointer, as I have not been able to find out information at this detailed level other than on this forum.
Thanks again.
#2-> #3 should be fine.
#3-> #4, Studio update feature you would ban not to, because all of the updates are based pkg as you said, you could however meet other issues such as the incompatible commands, libs, etc. This isn't a use case recommended by Studio for (which includes major improvements to the OS).
As long as the Repo to update that points to the device to a matching, VendorUUID, ProductRID, name of the device and one more great appliance Version appear available, the update executes the script of prior update, download the packages and try to install and run the update script. With regard to the question of whether this whole process was successful or not, depends especially how to install pkgs.

Hello
I have question concerning communication with the controller VTEP and NSX.
Will be communicating with workflows VTEP and controller within the network vmkernel management NSX?
Alternatively, it empties the VTEP network? (Network VXLAN?)
I think it is by the vmkernel management network, as ESXi host with controller NSX need not always have
VTEP (or Logical switches) segment.
I thought that it could flow within the segment of NSX controller if it is independent of the normal (communication of host of ESXi and vCenter)
management vmkernel, but I think that there are restrictions which network of the controller must be in the same segment of layer 2.
I tried to find some document but nothing of any document clearly states what network port group transmits VTEP and NSX flow controller.
I'll be very happy if the experts give me answer.
BR
As far as I know: you're right - this traffic is via the host management network and a connection routed between controllers it is not currently supported with NSX - v.
