Update of the device: underlying operating system far can be updated?

I'm fighting to get my hands around the ability to update device, which is impressive, to be sure.

Let's say I have build devices following, all using the same application:

  1. CentOS 5.3, Application version 3.0

  2. CentOS 5.3, version 3.1 Application

  3. CentOS 5.4, Application version 3.2

  4. CentOS 6.0, version 4.0 Application

I know I could install #1 and update # 2 without any problems (other than those posed by part of my app, of course).

I expect that I could then update # 3 without problem, probably?  I am not sure if RedHat/CentOS dot releases are something to the RPM level that can support the update.

A more interesting question would be - could I update #3 à #4?  I doubt it, since I don't see that you can update CentOS 5. anything for CentOS 6. anything by just RPM installs, and it seems that the ability to update VMware Studio device is driven out of RPM.  Although there might be something else that I have not yet triggered in my experiences.

What will happen if I ran #3 and looked for updates?  He could direct me to #4?  He would try to do and do not, work, or what?

Thanks a lot if someone knows about it.  If there is a place I should read these things, I'd like a pointer, as I have not been able to find out information at this detailed level other than on this forum.

#3-> #4, Studio update feature you would ban not to, because all of the updates are based pkg as you said, you could however meet other issues such as the incompatible commands, libs, etc. This isn't a use case recommended by Studio for (which includes major improvements to the OS).

As long as the Repo to update that points to the device to a matching, VendorUUID, ProductRID, name of the device and one more great appliance Version appear available, the update executes the script of prior update, download the packages and try to install and run the update script. With regard to the question of whether this whole process was successful or not, depends especially how to install pkgs.

    I'm looking to get some practice with the Windows Server operating system (2008 or other).  I came across the downloadable 180 trial period, but I don't mean to create a true server temporarily.  I'm looking to be able to have a completely 'virtual world' where I can actually add devices and simulate connect with different computers, etc.  I want to create an environment of virtual server completely, not the 180-day trial period where I create an environment that can have real computers to connect to it.  Such a thing exists?

    For example, I used a program called Packet Tracer that allows me to simulate the addition of routers, switches and high-end devices to create a whole network of Physics in a virtual environment.  I can configure devices with IP address and all that I can learn how to build a physical network.  I would like to do with the operating system Windows Server if possible.

    1. Insert the CD in the drive and then cancel Setup

    2. open my computer and click right then on the CD from the drive and select open

    3 open the Util folder

    4 open the CCC folder

    5. run the uninstall_L4 (exe or Bat)

    6. once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer

    7 run the Accessories\ System Tools Disk Cleanup

    8. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

    I FOUND IT!

    1. go in Control Panel
    2. find the MOUSE
    3. go in the mouse properties
    4. go into device settings
    5. go to settings
    6 uncheck tapping
    It should work for all Windows 7 OS computers laptops!

    You have the two desktop software and link configurΘ for dΘmarrer when a device is connected to your Mac. You must go into the Desktop software settings (I don't remember exactly what to do, but there should be some settings at the top right) and set it to not open when a device is connected. Once you have it set to not open when your phone is connected, make sure that the link is set to open. That should solve your problem.
