Laptop HP 2000: how to install physical media on Hp laptop, 2000 & Hp deskjet 1000

I installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I had opinions on my icon Hp that action was necessary. He said... 'install physical media' how accomplish this? Is there something I need to buy? ex.   USB/DVD?  Please help me! I am out of warranty and cannot afford it right now.

@Denise1957,

Hello and thanks for posting back.  Your problem is you're not going to find the drivers that are compatible with windows 8 or 8.1. Your system is only released with support for windows 7.  You can find the drivers somewhere on the internet, that can work.  This will involve some research and they will not be supported.  The only thing I would do is to reload your original operating system and use compatible drivers available for your laptop HP support page.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

    Hi patriciabrown,

Windows Media Format Runtime 11 is for people who want to use the latest Windows Media Player codecs without installing Windows Media Player 11.

Windows Media Format runtime is required for WMA (Windows Media Audio) and WMV (Windows Media Video). It is also recommended that you keep Windows player 11 and window media player 11 runtime.

You cannot install the Windows media player 12 on Windows XP because there is no standalone package out yet, and this is only available in the Windows 7 operating system.

  • How to install Windows Media Center & decoder: Please help!

I have a HP desktop computer. There not yet 2 years old, I have Windows Media Center (WMC) and I could watch TV very good about it until I'm the cable box. I simply plugged the cable into the Tower, no problem. Now that I have the decoder, I'm confused as to what's missing to make it work! It is said that the IR hardware & IR control cables are missing. What does that mean? Also, how far I will use? Do I have to use a universal? Oh, and it shows the channels that are supposed to be here (for example: it comes through that channel 53 is supposed to be MTV, but there is no video or sound).

    Thank you!!!

    -Lisa

Set your tuner, PC TV channel 3 or 4 according to the cable box output channel.  The decoder is initially connect to the wall and the video output is connected to the PC.  Use the remote control for the set-top box to change channels.  If the PC is to drive the sound then you will also need to connect audio cables (red and white) from the cable box to the audio inputs of the TV tuner card.

  • How to download and install Windows Media Player on a Windows 7 laptop?

Somehow my Windows Media Player has been removed from my laptop.  For some reason you can't download it to a Windows 7 laptop.  I tried the suggestions that were given to me and to others who asked a similar question, but nothing seems to work.  I went in my trash to see if she was there and he is not.  Anyone know of anyway to get this short done go back my laptop that would look just for additional problems with no guarantee that it would help the reset?

You can't download it, its effectively integrated to W7, unless you have a ' or 'KN' version of W7, so can you.

If you have not already, have a read of this http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/26107/how-to-reinstall-windows-media-player-in-windows-7-to-solve-problems/ and uninstall - reboot - reinstall - restart, sometimes gets again.

Another thing that may help depending on how it has been "deleted" is to run a sfc/scannow and see if that is its lack, and it retrieves. If it finds errors, that may not be correct, and then try the command twice. SFC command - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

If they do not help, I know no other than a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R repair installation (read the notes at the beginning, while it should leave accounts and programs implemented, upward before hand on a case where), or possibly a system restore to a date before that WMP has been "deleted."

  • How to install XP on Toshiba laptops!

I struggled with this on my ct 3440 (w / a new 20 GB hd).

First of all, I gave up and installed variants of Linux (fedora and redhat), which has worked flawlessly!

It was therefore not a hardware problem.

But then I got tired of her, for me, unusable Linux and tried to gather information from the microsoft bulletin.

Seems the XP (and install 2000) tries to use an incompatible driver of HD during installation. Using a generic driver would do the trick, but I still know how to do this (by pressing F6 during installation, no doubt, but what to load?)

Toshiba could probably solve this problem if they come out of the specific HD drivers for laptops mentioned (are you reading this?).

I thought that perhaps 98 force drivers incompatible during installation, and I was right! :)

(If your connected to a PCMCIA cdrom, 98 installation does not work, you will need to copy - both - W98, XP CDs and CDROM XP drivers laptop HD using an adapter 1.8 "via a desktop computer.) (possibly another laptop with cdrom integrated))

Then - update - to XP to go 98 has worked without a hitch.

This seems to affect a large number of laptops, not only the series, Portege, but also some of the Satellites (I think).

    But the workaround works! :)

    Hello

You are absolutely right. Workaround works in some cases. In my view, that the installation of the OS should be made using restore CD. On this way, everyone will be sure that all the drivers and tools are installed correctly. The title of the topic should be how to install Windows XP Home edition on the old laptop Toshiba with new and bigger HARD drive. ;)

If you change some hardware components like HARD drive because of the restriction of the BIOS (for old models of laptops as 3440) can be a problem. It is also important that all the drivers and tools are designed for each OS and for each laptop model.

    Hello @Thufail19,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I read your post about installing Windows and he wanted to help!

As long as you have the product key for Windows, you can install via USB or the software disk.  Just follow the instructions on the screen.  You can check this site to see if your product is compatible with Windows 10: upgrade to Windows 10

If you are not sure about Windows 10, then I recommend installation 8.1 Windows and recovery media creation.  You can use this document to help you, if necessary: HP PC - create a recovery Image on disk or save a recovery Image on a Flash drive (Windows 8)

In this way, you can upgrade to Windows 10 If you choose, and if you are not happy with it, you can return to Windows 8. 1. once the operating system is ready to go, you can get the drivers you need for your product at the following site: drivers - HP for laptop - 15-af008ax

Here are a few documents about 10 additional Windows:

HP Notebook PC - upgrade to Windows 10

HP computers - understanding and using Windows 10

HP products - where to find Windows 10 drivers and software for my model?

  • How to install a dual boot on my laptop system. There the Vista license on it, I'll buy a disc of windows 7 retail of the school?

How to install a dual boot on my laptop system. There the Vista license on it, I'll buy a disc of windows 7 retail school, also I want to use vmware or virtual box to have windows 7 Windows 7 for experimentation (because in to school for computers). So, how can I configure my computer to ask what os I want to run from the black screen and I have 7 on a virtual machine to play with and what having a vdi with my os to travel around with on a USB?

Please see the following article with useful information about dual-boot:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/can-I-have-more-than-one-operating-system-on-my-computer-multiboot

You will not be able to virtualize Windows 7 because the license would be already physically license on the host on a partition.

Another question, you must make sure that the copy of that school license is not an upgrade. You cannot install an upgrade on a partition or a virtual machine.

  • How to avoid turning off Windows 8 when I install Windows Media Center?

I purchased, downloaded, installed and activated Windows 8 Pro on my laptop. Then I asked for and received the key to Microsoft's free product for the installation of Windows Media Center.  I used the key and installed Windows Media Center.

My laptop restarts automatically after the installation of Windows Media Center, but my Windows 8 Pro has been is no longer enabled. When I tried to use the product key of Windows 8 again to reactivate Windows 8, I got a message saying that this product key had already been used by another computer.

I thought that maybe I had done something wrong, then just to make sure, I repeated the procedure as a whole: I reinstalled and reactivated Windows 8 Pro. I checked under "System" to ensure it has been activated and it was.
Then I used the free Microsoft product key once again to set up Windows Media Center for the second time. When this facility was completed, and the computer restarted, Windows 8 Pro is no longer enabled. And for the second time, when I tried to activate it using the product key Windows 8 Pro, I got a message saying that this key has already been used by another computer.
So my question is: how install and activate Windows 8 Pro and then install Windows Media Center without disabling Windows 8?

I suffer from the same problem you describe and even followed the same steps that you did.  After having my windows disable the first time after installing windows media center, I did the installation 'clear all' and he always gave me the message that my key was in use after installation of Media Center.  One thing I noticed, the last five digits of the key it lists on the page to turn on, show my key of windows instead of my windows media 8 pro key.  It almost seems like my windows media center key is somehow get confused with my windows 8 pro key.
