Laptop is Wind7 desktop Vista Home

I'm looking for getting a new laptop.  All of them come with installed Windows7.  My office is only a year old and has Vista Home on it.  My question is these two systems will work together?  I don't want to spend 200.00 on a new copy of 7 just so I can use the two together.  I am trying to build a home network and want to retrieve data via a liaison wifi of my desktop hard drive and external for my laptop.  Will this work?

Kenny

Hello

Yes, you can network them together. Quite easily actually. Just make sure that you place the files that you want to access shared folders (public folders work best, but you can easily share any non-system folder). Hey Bireshwari

a vista recovery disc you already have is one of the ways that you normally use on a preinstalled vista machine to reinstall

you start from the recovery disk

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

If this is not the good disk read this information below

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above

  • Installation failed for HP Photosmart C6180 wireless for my laptop HP Pavilion (window Vista Home Premium) 64-bit

    Hello

I have HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-One printer, that works well with my other Compaq Presario SR2001NX desktop (Window XP) wired without any problem.
But after I bought the new laptop about a month ago, I tried to install this printer on my wireless laptop.
I downloaded HP driver for vista 64-bit, which is not always in the final phase of installation showing big 'X' mark on the screen of the window.
Several chatting online with HP technician did not work at all, and I couldn't connect the printer with that laptop apparently more up-to-date, which is quite frustrating.
I know how to connect the printer wireless with router. The printer screen shows it is correctly connected to the Wi - Fi network.

I wonder if Microsoft already knows this kind of installation problems.

It seems that Windows does not install automatic blower for this printer. Most of the HP printers is listed on the function of automatic installation of the window, but this printer is not included.

    Hello Itnntkim,

Thanks for posting of Microsoft Answers.

I checked on the compatibility of Windows Vista site and this printer is compatible with the 64-bit system, but it shows there is a required download for the drivers. I've included here the compatibility site.
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=PhotoSmart%20C6180%2032%2f31ppm%204800x1200dpi%20Print%2fCopy%2fScan%2fFax%20NIC%20U&v=HP&uid=Q8181AABA&pf=0&pi=0&s=HP%20PhotoSmart%20C6180%20all-in-one%20multifunction&os=32-bit

Make sure that you have all the updated drivers for the HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-One printer.
The website below is for drivers for this model for Windows Vista 64-bit system.

We have downloaded the drivers, then uninstall the drivers you currently have. And then update with the new drivers.  If when you do that, you still get an error, please answer with the exact error message so that we can continue to troubleshoot with you.

  • Bottom loading and use of the licensed version of Windows 7 instead of the licensed version of Windows vista Home premium on acer ferrari laptop

I use an Acer ferrari laptop model with windows vista home premium OS. I would like to know if I can do the free download and use windows 7 instead of windows vista in laptop (I understand that there is a similar model earlier). The laptop is used entirely for personal use @ home, not for purposes of Trade/office.

Windows Vista is to give a lot of problems even with installed virus scan software. It is slow and gives challenges to the use of household memebrs.

Many offered computer manufacturers free updates from Vista to Windows 7 on computers purchased during a certain period of time, but this time with the supply have long expired.  There is no such offer to download/update free available anywhere.

  • where can I get a winows vista home basic startup disk? And can I use a back up from another pc which is vista Home premium?

be necessary to restart the laptop with Vista Home Basic, but do not have a backup, can make a backup of my desktop vista Home premium if it will work?

    Hello

You cannot use a backup from a Home Premium computer to reinstall Vista Basic on another computer.

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Windows vista home basic service pack1 and windows vista Home premium service Pack 2

I WANT TO UPDATE WINDOWS VISTA HOME BASIC, WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM TO MY NEW LAPTOP TO MY OLD LAPTOP.  Can I update my laptop which has windows vista home basic service pack1 installed using my laptop which has windows vista Home premium service pack 2 by using a transfer program for example windows easy transfer? HOW CAN I DO THIS?

    Hi ronnieVron,

Your copy of Windows is only allowed for 'a machine If you want to put Vista Edition home premium on your 'old laptop"you can buy a new copy of Vista premium. Another point is that copies of Windows was probably preinstalled on your laptop, which means that, putting license on one side, your copy is related to each specific laptop and so, because the copy is related to the material on each laptop, you would have problems on other transfer machine. Anyway you could invalidate your Windows license.

  • Where can I download windows 7 ultimate 32 bit to upgrade a Vista Home Premium 32 bit?

    Hello

I have a little problem. I have this Toshiba laptop comes with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit version. It came with a free upgrade to Windows 7. Toshiba not did me not a CD for Windows Vista or 7. I was too lazy to update. Now my computer has some problems, so I thought I would just upgrade to Windows 7. But I find no legal download online to upgrade. Why is this? Where can I find it? And if they are available, he will ask the product key for windows 7, or I will be able to spend with my key for windows vista?

    I'd appreciate your help.

    Kind regards

    Abbas

    Hello

There are free downloads of Windows 7, but you would need a product key to activate it. It is therefore of no use to you.

You should contact the manufacturer of your laptop, in your case, Toshiba and get the Windows 7 Upgrade in the time to take advantage of the offer.

    This is the upgrade Option:

How does the Windows 7 upgrade Option?

The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Windows 7 upgrade Option program takes place June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Some manufacturers may choose to shorten the time to upgrade Option.

    Unfortunately, it has expired.

For more information about the offer, please contact Toshiba.

  • Cannot restore backup image Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate

So recently my house was broken into and my laptop stolen.  Fortunately, considerate thieves left my backup hard drive external, I used my destination for Vista Ultimate backups.

Advance of 2 weeks and now I have a new laptop.  It has Vista Home premium installed. It is deplorable that I must pay for 2 because Microsoft OS assumed that I am a software pirate and does not give me an OEM OS disk, but I also use a version with fewer features.

But I'm better.  Soon I discovered that my non "backups" are not all files that are not some base document/text/music files.  All my encrypted volumes that have my REALLY important files were not considered sufficiently specific to save Vista, probably because their extension wasn't .txt, .doc or .mp3.

Fine.  In fact, I did disk-image backups.  As recently, you mind, but at least most of my stuff should be there.

And, I can't restore my own disk-image backups because Vista Home Premium does not support.  Great, not only bought Vista * double *, I'm not allowed to retrieve the files that I recorded with a BONE that I bought and supposed to be always clean, but only in certain intellectual property of Kafka-esque fantasy land.

I tried the 3rd party virtualization software to try to start the image (.vhd files). No go.  Can someone tell me how to recover my files?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ixne,

We will not be able to recover an ultimate Image on Home Premium. However, if you have a backup of your entire PC, then you can try to do the same thing in Windows Recovery Mode.

Starting with the DVD of the operating system, once you see the manufacturer of the screen, Tap "F8". Choose the option "full restoration of the PC.

Hope this helps with your problem.
