Laptop LCD life

Hello

I recently bought a new Dell to replace an older laptop LCD screen failed (the backlight seems to have failed because I can still read the screen using an external light).  I had the old laptop set up to never turn off the screen when connected to the power adapter.  Thus, the screen generally stayed all day and was closed during the night.

I was wondering if it was a good idea given the failure of the LCD after 3 years of use of this laptop.  My questions are:

1. What is the normal lifetime of laptop LCD screens?  Is 3 years of use as above too short or normal for these screens (I have an older laptop that is about 6 years old and its LCD screen works perfectly.)  However, this laptop was used only a few hours a day, all day).

2 is it better to set power management options so that the screen is off shortly after?  Life is more a factor of how long the screen is turned on, or is it more depending on how many times it is turned on and off?

3 - is the life of affect brightness somehow control?  The LCD display will last longer if I dial down the brightness, even when it's plugged in?

I know that nVIDIA recommends turning off V-sync to solve problems of stuttering with their current drivers until the next version of driver that is supposed to be in June, so that's why I want to have an answer of expertise regarding the V-sync on your laptop / LCD screen, how it)

    Hello berryracer,

The V-sync is the vertical sync.

I can't recommend V-Sync by in the game if possible, there not much difference from native or forced, other than forced takes slightly more resources.

In addition, on the Triple Buffering. The triple-buff forced Control Panel works on application based on OpenGL.

If a game has an anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering or any other option in the game its always best to use the set option instead of forcing by the graphics card Control Panel.

Usually turning off V-sync increases the FPS, you can check it out.

  • technical question about the laptop LCD screen

    Hello

I see in youtube change that a laptop screen is quiet easy.

1 but is it dangerous to change the lamp or the laptop LCD converter when it is damaged?

    2. I know when the screen goes black and you can barely see an image in bright light you lost the lamp or the inverter, but how you can know if it is the inverter or the lamp?  because the inverter converts direct current to an electrical outlet which needs the lamp.

    Thank you

  • DV9000 laptop battery life

I have a HP dv9000 series laptop for about 2 years and my battery is in poor condition.  It is typical of this battery life is only 2 years? Given that I keep my PC plugged in most of the time, he wears on the battery? I just want to know if I should buy a new battery or do I check to see if it is covered by the warranty.

    Thank you

I'll save you the trouble. Even if you get the longer warranty the battery is covered with padt 1 year generally not unless you have obtained the guarantee of store on top of the HP warranty. 2 years isn't a bad battery life. That's all what I expect to get. Battery life is governed by the number of cycles of discharge and duration and charges since. If you take a battery that is new in the box, it will be lower after 2 years when new even if you do not use. If you literally never use the battery you can remove it during the execution of the laptop on the sector. He unloads up to like 30% and store it in a cool, dry and dark place (but not in the refrigerator).

  • Problem with my laptop battery life

Hey owners of Toshiba! Is anyone having problems with their battery life? My laptop does not work as long as it should! Or so it seems. Any ideas what could be the problem? What is the machine?

Try to let the battery discharge completely before recharging it. When you decide to use the power of the battery, remove the power adapter when the battery is fully charged and running on battery power until this that completely discharged and not only for 10 minutes, for example

  • Tecra M2: Can I replace laptops LCD screen SXGA +.

Anyone know if it is possible to change the standard XGA screen, I have in my Tecra M2 with a screen SXGA +. Do I need to change anything other than the LCD?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As far as I know, that laptops come with a different hardware configuration. The same series of laptop computer can be delivered with the screen XGA and SXGA screen +.

I think that you can replace your TFT screen to the other, but the display size should be the same.
    I guess the Tecra M2 needs a 14.1 screen.

But why do you want to replace the laptop screen? First of all, you should know that the replacement of the screen isn't easy and it should be done by a technician or a person who has a good laptop experience. In addition, the new view is not cheap. You have to spend about $ 350 for a new game and I think that it s not worth.

    But it's you choice buddy

My old charger(65 W) will manage the larger battery?

What I say to the laptop that a larger battery is installed, I have so, how?

    56sunliner,

Don't know if it's the same problem as you but my grandson had a laptop DV2000 and after only 2 1/2 years had to replace the battery. He looked online at the HP store and found a long battery life for its DV2000.

long story short, the adapter supplied with the original battery wouldn't charge a new (or if he was in charge, was wwwwaaaayyyyy taking too long to register as % increase. Bought a 90 Watt charger (HP) and everything is ok with laptop and the battery.

A second (aftermarket) charger never bad to have around, as they often die.

  • Fix my laptop LCD

How can I fix lines horizontal randomly and flicker for LCDs for my laptop Toshiba L 20

    Hello

Access the Web from Toshiba site > get a drivers and Download Section (TAB at the top) > search your laptop model number > your operating system > drivers for it: either video / graphic / Chipset (according to the wording it) > download and install the drivers.

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

If that fixed it, it seems to me be a problem of graphic material.

Because it's a laptop; If under warranty, contact the manufacturer.

If it is not under warranty, contact a repair shop, local.

    See you soon.

  • On a new laptop battery life is less than 5 minutes; says it's fully charged

I bought a Clevo M72S/M721S Mini laptop, a year ago. When I bought it, it had about 10 minutes of battery life. Now, it lasts 5 minutes without the AC is plugged in. When it is plugged in, however, it is said that the battery is charging and is 100%. I don't know if it's a dead battery, a battery life vulnerability in XP, a bad connection or something else. I've never used this thing only on batteries, with the exception of battery life tests. Help, please!

Critics of this mini are not too abundant, but I found a couple for the re-brand model, and the life of the battery when new, was, on average, about 75 to 90 minutes. Since you never more than 10 minutes BL, and it seems to work fine on AC, my guess would be a bad battery from the beginning. Too bad it's probably out of warranty, but you can try to contact them in any case to see if there is perhaps a battery recall.

You could try to calibrate the battery. Read this article and see whether or not you want to try it:

And here is a procedure of HP, although it should work for any laptop:

  • Computer laptop LCD screen showing nothing.

I stop the laptop yesterday evening. Tempted to put on in the morning but the LCD display lights don't. Windows boots to the top, the fan runs, the DVD player shows an activity, I can hear the windows startup sound, but not display on screen.

On the search through the forums, I came across a few tests to isolate the problem.

    I tried:

    1. the BIST(Built in self test) LCD: Passes. All colors are displayed without distortion of any kind. Crystal clear display.

    2. connect the laptop to an external display: pass. I have connected to a VGA monitor. The screen lights up. I'm typing this message by using the form external infact.

As these two tests have been passed by the laptop. I don't know what the problem is. Is it the cable or something else? Please Guide.

    Thanks in advance.

    Vanjul.

    Hello

Thanks for the quick response. One thing I would like to add that I found the display was not Virgin but VERY dim as it was almost invisible.

I checked with a local technician. He changed the display cable, but the laptop screen has always had a very dark view.

The culprit remaining was the motherboard. I did check and found that some officials of the transistor brightness control has gone wrong. He replaces it and Voila!

The screen is back to normal. Thanks for the help of sir. Very much appreciated.

  • Samsung with windows 7 - extending laptop battery life

    Hi all

I have Samsung R522 laptop with Windows 7. As susally I have been using it with the charger connected, Windows asked me to chrge battery only at 80% of capacity in order to improve the life of the battery.

My question is how I could change it back so that battery would be charged to full 100%. Please help me. I'm trying to find answer to this issue for some time and no progress so far.

Thanks for any help in advance

The thing is that I can't charge more than 80%. When I keep the charger connected, it just stays at 80%. It shows 80% in the system and on the battery itself.

I remember exactly this question, but I remember that I had to agree by choosing Yes Yes/no alternative. It's really crazy: P

    Thank you

PS by the way I wasn't the solution on the Samsung website... im go...

    ---------------------------------------------

    I found it

This is the option in the BIOS, called "dough-Extension of Life Cycle. If set to on, then the battery is charged to 80% is the maximum capacity.

  • about laptop battery life

It is good to use the laptop directly plugged into outlet, without the battery? I recently bought the pavilion laptop g4 2049tx, this method of using laptop could long life of the battery and the laptop.

    Hello

It is certainly very well run Notepad on just the AC adapter.

Regarding the battery once a month, reinsert the battery, turn the machine on and let the battery fully charged.  Unplug the AC adapter and let the unit run until you start getting a "low battery" warning  Completely load it again, then let the battery drain to about 40%.  Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and store it separately in a cool place.  Repeat this procedure each month will help you keep your battery in good condition.
