  • No Internet connection when the laptop is off mode "Eve".

When I close the lid on my laptop (which puts the computer into sleep mode) or he falls asleep with the lid open, there is no internet connection when I wake the computer.  I have to either run the Troubleshooter or perform a reboot to get connectivity.  This problem just started and I got the laptop almost 2 years. It runs on Windows 7.  I don't know much about computers.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

When out of standby or hibernation, your wireless network connection can not reconnect if power on your wireless adapter options are set to a power saving mode. To check or change your current power options, follow the steps below for your operating system:

    1. Open Power Options by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. Next to your currently selected power plan, click change plan settings, and then click that to change advanced power settings.
    3. Click to expand wireless adapter settings section, and then click to expand the Energy saving Mode section.
    4. If the setting is currently nothing else that "Maximum Performance", click it, and then select A maximum Performance.

You can also set the setting on drums on "Maximum Performance". For more information on power management, see the feature page of power management on the Microsoft Web site.

  • Satellite L750 back on after mode "Eve"

Daughter has a Toshiba L750 aged from 4 months working under windows 7. She is in college so it uses every day. It is basically remains connected. If she is, she will turn it on and leave it on all day. He'll usually just in mode "Eve" and she must then set password to return to the office.

A few times he went into mode 'sleep', all lights power etc. are light but it back on. To come she must disconnect the power supply and the battery, plug it back and there it goes. If she died it normally at the end of the day, he simply never 'not started' its just twice in the mode 'sleep'.

What may be the cause? Permanent connection to the network? Constantly lit? Settings problem? Hardware failure?

    Thank you

(PS... Please be gentle with answers. Even if I can usually follow basic instructions OK, any mention of the BIOS etc etc who brings me a cold sweat!)

    Hi Mike

I would try to give some info gently ;)
To be honest I'm not very well why the laptop does not wake from sleep correctly but I read here in the forum about similar issues and in most cases, the BIOS update was necessary please don t m download panic now ;)

First of all I recommend you check the version of your BIOS.
Here you can find beautiful instruction how to do this.

Now, visit the European driver of Toshiba page and check the latest BIOS available.
If there is a superior/new version available for download, try to update the BIOS.

Here is a detailed update of the BIOS instruction:

  • Programs can not be started, or no response after the computer was not awake mode "Eve"

    Dear Sir.

My lap top is under the VISTA system. Now the problem is that all programs can not be started or no response after the computer was not awake mode "Eve". I have to restart the computer to recover the computer to normal state.

Please please let me have your advice to return to my email address: * email address is removed from the privacy *.

    Thank you very much!

    Eric

    Hi Eric,.

    You can follow these steps:

Step 1: perform a clean boot to verify if an application or service is causing the problem.

See this article for more information on the clean boot:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
     http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Steps to perform a clean boot:
    a. click the ORB start on your desktop
    b. type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    c. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    d. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    e. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box and then click Disable all.
    f. click OK.
    g. When prompted, click on restart.

NOTE: Please check that you start the computer in normal mode after a repair. Follow step 7 article.

Step 2: Configure the power settings for keyboard, mouse, and other devices.

    a. Click Start, click Control Panel, hardware and sound, and then click keyboard.
    b. click on the Hardware tab, and then click the properties button.
    c. click Change settings.
    d. click the power management tab and verify that the allow this device to wake the computer is selected.
    e. If "Allow this device to wake the computer" was not selected, select it and click OK.
Follow the same steps for the mouse as well.

If the problem persists, disconnect all non-essential devices (printers, scanners, USB drives). Restart the computer with only the original mouse, monitor, and
connected keyboard. If this solves the problem of sleep/wake, one of the devices was causing the problem. Replace a device at a time and test to see if the
problem occurs again. Continue adding devices and testing until you find the device that causes the problem.

Refer to this article for additional troubleshooting steps.
