Hello

I have a Presario C700 laptop, whenever I close the lid of the whole computer has recently

to restart when I open it again. Sometimes a message appears saying its audit of the

discs, but then the same thing happens right after.

Help, please!

Hello

In the Menu start, open the all programs, open accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Then, click on the Start Menu, click computer, left click Local disk C once to highlight, right-click Local disk C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click on the button "check the drive for errors.  In the next window make sure that both boxes are checked, then click Start.  Part of this process will require a reboot to check the disk.

When this process is finished, stop the laptop again.  Then typing away to f10 as soon as you press the power button to enter the menu of the bios.  Under Advanced Options or diagnosis tab, you will find the possibility to run tests on the hard drive and memory.  Launch the two tests and post back with the results.

    Hello

Every time that you restart, Windows is searching for hardware changes and it detects your NIC as newly installed. This problem may occur because of driver or faulty hardware device.

Try rolling back the drivers to the previous version.

    a. right-click on the icon my computer

    b. Select manage from the menu.

    c. Select Device Manager in system tools that are listed in the resulting display.

    d. right-click on the device.

    f. click on the driver tab.

    g. click on restore.

Update BIOS drivers and also check if date/time settings are correct in the bios.
Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Laptop shuts off and turns on when I close the lid

Hi, I just bought a HP Pavilion 15-n253sv and I noticed that when I close the lid its turns off instead of getting in standby mode. Also when I stopped it, and then I close the lid it lights up. Its like the on off button. Is it a hardware problem that I must return the laptop? I checked out the settings and it is said that when the lid is closed it just goes to the standby mode. I have win 8.1.

    Hi Biliou,

  • Laptop will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

    Separated from this thread.

Same problem here. My settings say that my Toshiba will sleep when the lid is closed, but half the time is not asleep and I can feel it's hot and turns on the fan. I am so frustrated with this new laptop and Windows 8.1. Looks like too many bugs in the software or something. More I am working on the new laptop the more problems that I find, like screen discoloration as well. The forums are useless. I do what they say, and the problem is the same. Forget the call from Toshiba. Needless. Nobody will help unless you pay them money to subscribe. What customer service?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum. Let me help you with your concern.

This problem may occur because of any change in power on your laptop options. If the default is set to hibernation and standby modes, your laptop goes to sleep when you close the lid, but then the Hibernate timer comes in and wake up your computer first and trying to Hibernate. He cannot go to Hibernate directly from mode 'sleep'. Go into the power settings and either disable hibernation or set the timer on a higher value.

To apply the same setting to all plans:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click choose the cover.
    3. On the page define power buttons and turn on password protection , next to when I close the lid, choose what you want your laptop to do, both when it is running on battery and when it's plugged in.
    4. Click on save changes.

Tip: To save battery power and quickly resume working, select sleep. Sleep is a power saving state that allows a computer quickly resume the operation of full power (usually in seconds) when you want to start working again.

To apply a setting to a specific regime:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click change plan settings for the plan you want to change.
    3. On the change settings for the plan page, click change advanced power settings.
    4. Advanced settings tab, expand it cover and the Power button, action lid, choose what you want your mobile PC to do when you close the lid, for when it runs on battery and when it is plugged in, and then click OK.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

  • Empty desktop computers are created when I close the lid

    Hi guys,.

I'm using version: 10.11.2 (15 c 50) of El Capitan. Most of the time when I close the lid of my MacBook and open later, I notice that desktop empty 10 - 15 have been created while I was not using it. I have no idea why this is happening, but one thing is certain: it has happened after the update to El Capitan.

Is this a known issue? You have any ideas what could help?

    Thank you

Try to download and reinstall the os x on top of what you have.  He should leave intact user files.

Of course, it is always good to have a redundant backup plan in place.

    Hello

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you here what Service Packs, if any, are already installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

    Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

    Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

    Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

And if you have any problems:

There is a Forum that Microsoft has put in place for problems with Vista Service Packs. If repost you the Forum they will definitely try to help you here...

    Good afternoon

Thank you for your response. It was the right solution, but I missed something in your response. I had to start several times to download / update. Throw/delete (or the procedure of the description) files don't get past not like you described, but I tried something myself and it worked finally.

But I have to ask: If this problem continues, of course, that a workaround is available, why is this a problem in the software persists, exist?

Maybe you can't give answers, but I'm just wondering, well thanks for your help.

  • Satellite C650 stops when I close the lid

I recently got my laptop for Christmas, and a few weeks ago, I noticed that whenever I opened the cover, I had to turn it back on. He woul say the computer stops unexpectedly. Then you choose the security mode or regular. You hit one and we would send you to the Start Up repair.

What should I do to get that normal back where I can close the lid and then open it again without having to reboot and wait more than seven minutes to start repair.
Also, I got the blue screen.

Do I have a virus, or is there another way I could fix it?

Stand by. In the history I n t understand one thing: in power options on the side left (blue color), you can find the option choose closing the cover. Which option is implemented here?

What should your laptop when you close the lid?

  • When I close the lid on my laptop, random programs begin to run.

    1. so here's the deal:

    I have laptop Dell XPS L502X in Win7 Pro;

    b. out of nowhere, and all of a sudden the next irritating problem started havoc. When I close the lid on my laptop at night, random programs begin to run. The desktop icons move into other folders or the trash. It changes the size of the larger icons... it changes even the settings 'snap to grid '.

2 until you tell me to turn it off or put it to sleep extended mode... I need to let you know that I need to leave the mobile "awake" so that it downloads my incremental changes to Carbonite cloud, as well as my local/resident of mirror [Carbonite] drive.

3 oh yes: I also went up to disable the 'mouse' integrated glidepoint device, too: same result... madness.

4 I jumped every hoop I can think... to run the diagnostics runs each available from Norton 360 scan... Online / remote - to both Norton AND Microsoft support.

I can understand your annoyance in that regard. I appreciate your effort posting this query to the Microsoft Forums.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. Did you change in the computer before this problem?

Please provide the Event Viewer logs to resolve the issue and the screenshot of the desktop icons.

Check out the link to check the Event Viewer logs.

  • Satellite A200 AH3 stops instead of standby when I close the lid

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite A200 AH3. When I bought Windows Vista was preinstalled (I still drive recovery). When I closed the lid of the previous day (I mean the monitor turn off the HD, the cooling fan and all the rest). The light On / Off on the laptop turned to a flashing orange light.

Then I opened the lid and Windows prompted me to the logon screen. This process occurred when the laptop starts on the battery, not when it is plugged. Everything was going fine.

But I formatted the HD to install WIndows XP that I bought Windows vista seem to be too heavy for my laptop. So I installed Windows XP and the driver and the software available on the Toshiba site. Now when I close the lid, the Windows shut down very quickly (about5-6 seconds). However, it is a real firm. When I reopen it cover anything happen.

Then I press the power button / stop and start Windows, normally (no screen saying that windows close annormally and no Safe Mode boot option). Even if I change the setting in the control panel/power Option or the Toshiba Power Saver, utility and I put them to sleep, he always make a stop down.

    How do I restore that?

    Hello!

Have you downloaded the BIOS for Windows XP?
For the Satellite A200, there are two versions available; one for XP and one for Vista.

Also, make sure that you have the latest graphics card driver and keep your XP to date.

    Good bye

  • When a close the lid of my portable computer Windows Media Player stops, and when I open it, it picks up.

When a close the lid of my computer laptop wmp stops and when I open it, it resumes. This only happens on the battery. I have it set to not sleep, and there is no screen saver. I want to use my cell phone as an mp3 player without having to leave the lid open. is there anyway to prevent a break?

original title: WMP stops when the lid is closed

Open Power Options - you can do it from the control panel by typing Power Options in the start menu, or by right click on the battery icon in your system tray (right end of the taskbar.)
Click on "change plan settings" for your current power management.  On the next page, click "Change advanced power settings".  On the box that opens, expand 'Power buttons and lid', then 'action close cover.'  Change the selection to "on battery" to the 'status quo', and then click OK.  Close the power Plan window.
