LaserJet MFP M525 - incoming Fax number (mailbox full)

Problem:

I'm working on a M525c who does not accept faxes all incoming visitors. The machine itself is not error codes, but the customer will get phone calls from their clients to inform them that a fax through and the outside client gets an error saying something like "Mailbox full". I confirmed that errors are observed by several clients from multiple locations, and there is sporadic.

Additional details:

-The customer before (a month ago) had a LaserJet M521 who was having the same issue, what the required to return it and upgrade to the M525.

-They had an old machine to fax Muratec before those HP machines and never had any problems.

-The customer has had their fax checked by the telephone company line and everything came back ok.

-Firmware is up to date

-I am a HP authorized technician and I work on M525c machines frequently and have not seen this problem before. (More specifically, I have not seen this question even two new printers simultaneously from the same family)

Issues related to the:

There are default settings that might cause this problem? If so, what should I change to?

Has anyone seen elsewhere this same problem and how solve you this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • M177fw MFP: Sort directory fax number

I still need to add to my people fax number phone book. Is there a way to sort the entries rather than just adding them to the end?

    Hi WaltGrosch,

I checked on our printer Laserjet M177fw lab, unfortunately there isn't a way you can move the names and numbers when they have been entered to add another in alphabetical order. You must remove an entry and add in new to this place, in alphabetical order, each time, then move this one to another area on the list, which would be very laborious. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    Thank you.

  • M127fn LaserJet MFP Pro: Printer/Fax stuck on 'Printing Fax page 1'

My business fax machine is stuck on a screen that says "Printing Fax Page 1". I tried to unplug it for 5 full minutes and it does not clear. How can I reset the printer/fax?

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

  • Color Laserjet MFP M277dw Pro: fax to pc

I can't find how to send my received faxes directly into a folder on my desktop.  Any suggestions?

    Hey @ElmacRD,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you do not want to receive faxes on your computer Windows 7 of your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw. This Laserjet model has no possibilities of digital repository. This means that you cannot receive Fax on the printer itself into print. The only option of PC has this product is to send faxes from your PC.

Options for fax sending and receiving your product be found in the User Guide. You can find all fax options for this model of printer on the User Guide pages 65-78 .

  • HP LaserJet MFP M277n Pro: fax interference

Very often, when the printer is turned on and someone calls me on my landline phone fax signal generate much at the expense of my ears and those of my caller.   Why is this?

    Dear DocCottle,

Thanks a lot for this.   The problem is only occasional, so I'll wait until the problem recurs.   However, I'm not sure you understand what it is you do.   For example, the modem is not the closest unit to the telephone jack, but that shouldn't make any difference because the cable attaching it is fine.   Fax cable is connected to the computer not the modem and the modem is connected to the computer and the phone jack.

    Best wishes.

In the Apple menu, click OK, click Applications, and then click utilities.

    Double-click disk utility.

Highlight your hard drive / partition on the left.

  • Color LaserJet MFP M177fw Pro: Scan to Mac with Color LaserJet MFP M177fw Pro

I bought and the latest drivers from hp installation a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw. are downloaded and installed.

I have a Mac and you connect wirelessly to the printer, which works very well. The Mac runs Yosemite 10.10.3

My question is the digitization. There is no option for scanning anywhere, not on the small screen of the printer not on the usefulness of the printer or any where.

Summer spend hours online to find an answer and is now well bored.

I have already reset the disc printing, verified and repaired systems. Can not scan even with the options offered on the forums of hp using Apple caprure or preview. It seems that all these options include versions of OS X prior to Yosemite?

I buy a multifunction printer that is not scan? I said to the saleswoman that I need a printer that can scan and airprint...

Is it possible to scan to a mac at all with this printer? Any help?

    Hi @sa9494,

Check the name of the driver that is installed by the printer. Make sure that it shows just the name of the printer.
Click on the Apple menu, click System Preferences. Click on Printers & Scanners, highlight the name of the printer on the left side and right side of the screen it should show the name of the printer. (Color LaserJet MFP M177fw Pro)

Here is a screenshot of what it should look like. You have the scanning through top tab?

I have also included a document for HP printers - scan with HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.

Scanning ports is not open on the router to the origin of this problem. You can contact the router company to verify and to open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.

  • HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP stores the faxes to be sent the

The company that I work has two HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP Copier/printers-faxes. They are configured as basically the same that each related to its own line of ananlog fax. One of the machines is a continuous problem where it starts to store faxes instead of sending them.

I went through all the HP troubleshooting documents. All settings have been verified. Firmware has been updated to the latest version. When I run the fax test via the service menu, always happens on all points.

The machine receives faxes fine, but when you try to send a fax, it stores and never sends it. Following the troubleshooting documents HP, 02/11/12 I restored by default. After that, the machine was able to send faxes normally do not their storage. On 09/11/12 machine began to store faxes rather than send them again. Today, 15/11/12 I restored default again, and the machine is able to send faxes again.

I have not the time to be constantly dealing with this issue. Why does the machine start storing faxes instead of sending them? How to prevent it from recurring? Should the machine be returned? Please do not direct me to a generic help document that I have already read. Thank you.

I would contact HP directly on it. It may need to be replaced, or it may just need some deeper resets. Their Laserjet experts know that go with this problem. I would wait until the problem returns to the top to call, because they will tell you to do if you call while it works very well. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it and she is treated, it will give you the printers warranty information, a file number and the phone number to call.

  • I can not long print documents from my iMac/Snow Leopard / HP Laserjet 2300dtn combo. because everytime I try, a message pops up: ERROR: A Fax number is not provided. There is no mention of "fax" in the "print and fax ' file in Prefs system.»

I use an iMac 2011 under Snow Leopard, but it can no longer print documents via my hp laserjet 2300dtn printer. Reason: whenever I try, a message appears through the PRINT icon in the Dock, read: "ERROR: has not received a Fax number. There is no fax option in the Print & Fax window in the System Prefs so I have no idea about the origin of the error message, but suspect there is corruption in the printing preferences.  So I went username/library/Preferences/com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs plist... and a file is moved to the trash. Unfortunately, the problem is not resolved. I am far away computer and would love advice for this situation.

Try to reset the printing system.

  • Receive fax on HP LJ500 MFP M525

    Hello

We have about 30 M525 MFP in our society. All this work with firmware 2200643_231931. When you receive a fax some of the MFP M525 store the fax in archive. In the 'Fax receipt of installation' "print fax setup" is on "always print the faxes.
In "Fax Archive and Forwarding" the "Fax archiving" is set to "do not archive (print only).
Can someone help, why some fax machines are not printed but put in archive?
    Thank you!

John, thanks for your reply! I did a cold reset as you described. The M525 MFP did a cold reset after that. But the problem persists after that.

I talked to a tech support a few days ago. HP knows the problem. And now it is fixed with the latest firmware version 2201074_229181.

  • M477fnw MFP: 1 before the fax number

It seems that I have to include a "1" before the area code when sending or receiving faxes on the MFP. If anyone has found is the case?

Does this mean that when I give my fax number, I must point out that a '1' must be included before the rest of the fax number?

    @DMAINC

    Comment

The '1' in front of the phone number has not to do with the printer / fax machine.

The prefix is apparently a requirement of your telephone company service.

In our own metropolitan community located in the West of the United States, we must now dial a digit code a lot just to call someone in the street.

    Example:

local prefix, 1 + area code + phone number

    1         333                 123                  4567

The need arose when (333) area codes and phone numbers in a given region (123-4567) have actually been exhausted (too many numbers required for too few available combinations).

From a land line (like the one used in the printer / fax), it is necessary that precede us the '1' and the 'code', followed by the phone number.

In our region, calling from a cell phone / Mobile requires the "indicative" and 7 digit phone number.

Please contact your compay phone / phone service provider for check!

  • M476nw: Color LaserJet MFP M476nw Fax Test failed

I bought a new LaserJet M476nw, but my fax test fails each time through the configuration laserjet and HP utility software.  The Laserjet Printer is connected on a network and using Vista.

I have a dedicated fax line that is connected into the socket on the icon with the socket at the rear of the laserjet printer.   I can hear the tone on the fax line when it is connected to a phone.   I called the fax line and it's normally rings and no response.   I also tried to connect a phone to the phone laserjet icon, while the fax line is connected to the laserJet printer, I hear the tone of the phone.

I don't know what I have to do to get the fax test to pass, so I can start fax on this machine.  Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Mike

In fact, this problem is now solved.

It's a whole new machine, so since I didn't really have all the data I did a restore to return by default.  It restarts and now he spends.
