M177fw MFP: Sort directory fax number

I still need to add to my people fax number phone book. Is there a way to sort the entries rather than just adding them to the end?

Hi WaltGrosch,

I checked on our printer Laserjet M177fw lab, unfortunately there isn't a way you can move the names and numbers when they have been entered to add another in alphabetical order. You must remove an entry and add in new to this place, in alphabetical order, each time, then move this one to another area on the list, which would be very laborious. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thank you.

Is there a way for the printer to "beep" when a fax is sent successfully? Right now you have to look at the screen of the printer to confirm the fax has been sent successfully. Just old habit I guess.

    Hello @WaltGrosch,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand you wanting to your M177fw "beep" when it sends a fax successfully.

    I would like to help.

If it's a wonderful idea, the Laserjet printer does not have this ability.

You can configure the printer to print a confirmation page when a fax is sent successfully.

I agree that the tone would be better.

To set the confirmation page, you can enter the menu setup then the fax menu.

  • M477fnw MFP: 1 before the fax number

It seems that I have to include a "1" before the area code when sending or receiving faxes on the MFP. If anyone has found is the case?

Does this mean that when I give my fax number, I must point out that a '1' must be included before the rest of the fax number?

    @DMAINC

    Comment

The '1' in front of the phone number has not to do with the printer / fax machine.

The prefix is apparently a requirement of your telephone company service.

In our own metropolitan community located in the West of the United States, we must now dial a digit code a lot just to call someone in the street.

    Example:

local prefix, 1 + area code + phone number

    1         333                 123                  4567

The need arose when (333) area codes and phone numbers in a given region (123-4567) have actually been exhausted (too many numbers required for too few available combinations).

From a land line (like the one used in the printer / fax), it is necessary that precede us the '1' and the 'code', followed by the phone number.

In our region, calling from a cell phone / Mobile requires the "indicative" and 7 digit phone number.

Please contact your compay phone / phone service provider for check!

  • Manual by the composition of MFP LaserJet 1536dnf fax

I recently got a LaserJet MFP 1536dnf for use in my home/office. Sometimes, I need to send a fax from long distance. I use a phone so card first dial the access number; then select the menu option; enter my PIN code. Select the menu option; and finally diall the number for which I am fax.

My manual says to dial manually, but how can I do this? If I dial the number for the unti to dial a number, I have to press send by fax; then, as soon as responses of calling card service; the appliance starts to tryting to send the fax.

Ian can't just somehow let me dial numbers, etc., and when the numbers called answers start to send the fax?

I think that I stumbled across the solution-

After I compose each set of numbers, I press the key "#" and this causes the machine to pause and wait for more input. So it goes like this:

    • 1-800-1234567.
    • 1 # [menu selection]
    • # 123456789 [PINE
    • 1 # [menu selection
    • 55512345678 [fax number of the recipient]

and then my device will start voting as soon as he gets a reminder.

I tried experience call my cell phone with this and it seems to work. I don't have anyone off hand that I can fax to see if it works. When I need to send another fax; I 'he's trying this.

The other alternative is you describe, connect a spare phone unit or route of an existing externsión through the machine.

    Thank you.

The copy of my Laser printer feature is misaligned, i.e. when I placed a page on flat glass, the copy, he sends cut off the top of my copy. It seems to me cuts on top of everything that is being analyzed. Somehow the flat glass surface got out of alignment with the copy inside decision-making mechanism.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? I searched and searched the Web of HPs site and doing a Google search.

    Thanks, Charlotte_A_Tra

    Hi @Charlotte_A_Tra,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that a HP Color LaserJet Pro M177fw MFP which is cutting off the top of copies and scans. I would like to help with that.

It is possible that the scanner does not calibrate properly on startup. To calibrate the printer copier/scanner:

1 remove all items from the scanner glass.

    2. close the scanner cover and doors.

    3. press the power button / to activate the product.

    4. with the product under voltage, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.

    5. unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

    6. wait at least 30 seconds.

    7. plug the power cord into the wall outlet.

    8. reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.

    9. If the product does not light by itself, press the power button / to turn it on.

There is no way to actually align the copier/scanner.

If the above does not resolve the problem, I suggest to contact our technical support at the www.hp.com/contacthp/. • HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP stores the faxes to be sent the

The company that I work has two HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP Copier/printers-faxes. They are configured as basically the same that each related to its own line of ananlog fax. One of the machines is a continuous problem where it starts to store faxes instead of sending them.

I went through all the HP troubleshooting documents. All settings have been verified. Firmware has been updated to the latest version. When I run the fax test via the service menu, always happens on all points.

The machine receives faxes fine, but when you try to send a fax, it stores and never sends it. Following the troubleshooting documents HP, 02/11/12 I restored by default. After that, the machine was able to send faxes normally do not their storage. On 09/11/12 machine began to store faxes rather than send them again. Today, 15/11/12 I restored default again, and the machine is able to send faxes again.

I have not the time to be constantly dealing with this issue. Why does the machine start storing faxes instead of sending them? How to prevent it from recurring? Should the machine be returned? Please do not direct me to a generic help document that I have already read. Thank you.

I would contact HP directly on it. It may need to be replaced, or it may just need some deeper resets. Their Laserjet experts know that go with this problem. I would wait until the problem returns to the top to call, because they will tell you to do if you call while it works very well. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it and she is treated, it will give you the printers warranty information, a file number and the phone number to call.

  • HP Color LaserJet M177fw MFP Pro - support PostScript?

    Hello

I am looking to buy a new printer/scanner/copier(/fax is a nice to have, but not mandatory), and I am deciding between the following models:

HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw

HP Color LaserJet M177fw MFP Pro

PostScript support is important to me, and I know that the 175 has it.  However, I'm not sure I know the 177, even after digging through several web pages and documents.  Here's what I found:

-The page of the main form for the 177 says that he accepts "Cffp.  I'm not familiar with this variant PCL, so I don't know how it compares to PCL5 or PCL6, etc..  I have been unable to find more information about "Cffp.

-The 'Software' section of Page 2 of the PDF Datasheet for the 177 mentions the driver "HP PostScript".  This is the only place where I saw no potential indication that the 177 supports PostScript.  This article also mentions a driver "PCLmS".  I couldn't find more information about "PCLmS".

-The user 's Guide the 177 refers only to PostScript in an article that refers to ePrint.  However, it does not imply that the 177 itself supports PostScript.

-Page product specification (in the Support section of the HP site) for the 177 has a "Print Specifications" section which lists only "PCL3 GUI" next to "languages of device.

I'm guessing that the 177 is not compatible PostScript, but someone has the more definitive information?  Also, is there a description of the Cffp / PCLmS somewhere?

    Thank you!

  • Can I send an email to a fax number?

Since I do not know the e-mail address of the person I want to contact, but don't have a fax number, can I compose an email in Thunderbird and send it to the fax number? Do I need an add-on or a special format in ' send to '?

In general, a message sent to a fax machine requires a phone call and e-mail clients do not know how how do phone calls.

A few years ago, it was quite common for ISPS to offer a limited number of free calls, usually of SMS messages to mobile phones, sometimes faxes IIRC. Most of these promotional services seems to have disappeared quietly.

There used to be a network (PTC ring a Bell) who took a system where you could send in a fax server near your destination and that they would make the last mile, the fax for you, call for free, but it always happens with advertising added in.

So, overall, it is not trivial to send a fax from an e-mail client.

There are still companies who do this, almost always for a fee. It is usually a bilateral agreement; you receive one number to which others can send faxes, that end up in your e-mail Inbox, and you can use the same number to send faxes by e-mail.

The one that I've used in the past.

    http://home.eFax.com/

    It's not a recommendation.

Not so long ago, we all had a modem built into our computers. This, when it is connected to a regular landline, with the right software, can allow your computer work like a fax machine. Of course, every fax you send you a phone call just like running a real fax would be costs. Of course, Windows XP can send a fax was built in; you dial in a word processor or text editor, and then select the fax as the printer device. A dialog box invites you for the fax number to send it to. As far as I know, this feature is still present in Windows 7 and 8.

If you do not have a fixed phone, mobile phone can offer something similar.

  • I can not long print documents from my iMac/Snow Leopard / HP Laserjet 2300dtn combo. because everytime I try, a message pops up: ERROR: A Fax number is not provided. There is no mention of "fax" in the "print and fax ' file in Prefs system.»

I use an iMac 2011 under Snow Leopard, but it can no longer print documents via my hp laserjet 2300dtn printer. Reason: whenever I try, a message appears through the PRINT icon in the Dock, read: "ERROR: has not received a Fax number. There is no fax option in the Print & Fax window in the System Prefs so I have no idea about the origin of the error message, but suspect there is corruption in the printing preferences.  So I went username/library/Preferences/com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs plist... and a file is moved to the trash. Hi liwarren,

I would like to help.  You can answer a few questions?

    1. Have you tried a hard reset?  Click here to see the steps to perform a reset.  That makes a difference?
    2. On the printer, under Setup , then reports, you will find a Printer Status Report.  Can you print the report (the report) and situation to give me the product # and the Version of the firmware of the printer?
    3. Find on the printer Setup , then Tools, Run the Test Fax.  If you select and run the test, all pass?
    4. HP has a number of fax for tests.  If you send a fax to him, and he is received, a fax will be automatically sent to you.  It may take a few minutes to receive the return fax.  If you send a fax to this number, what happens?  You receive a fax from HP?  The fax number is 1.888.473.2963.
