Latency

Hello

I am using Logix pro X for about 2 years now with a focusrite scarlett 6i6 and a mac book pro with the lates OS.   I have never had any latency issues ever...  Even with the full sessions using VSTs in the edge.    Now, all of a sudden since the last OS update I audio latency all the time.  His kills the atmosphere so much.   Buffer is set to low I have changed nothing in my usual game to the top.   Someone had it happen to them?

Help, please.

Yes, a lot of people. I assume you're talking about 10.11.4?

Is there a newer driver (or Focusrite there a 10.11.4 driver compatible?)

If this is not the case, to help restore your backup from a previous good system.

  • There is Airfoil and Airport Express, latency/delay time?

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

But the audio output should be "real time." in other words, no delay or latency at all. Both are in the same room!

I use notation software (Sibelius) and need to hear what I write immediately. Unlike streaming where I think there is an acceptable delay (2 seconds?) for the buffering?

    Is this possible please?

If it isn't with AirFoil, any advice on how welcome :-)

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

With AirPlay (or Bluetooth), there will always be a form of delay or latency with streaming audio.

In this scenario, an audio stream (on AirPlay) will go first to your iMac to AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Terminal.

To help understand why there will be delays, let's look at high-level "behind the scenes" about how works AirPlay:

For the AirPort Express (AX), audio input is provided mainly by iTunes. Of course, it can also get feedback from other sources as you know, as of Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.

For streaming, iTunes or wing does most of the work. What is app reads audio content standard (AAC, MP3, audio books, Internet music streams, etc., it decompresses these file formats and creates what is essentially a raw, uncompressed audio stream.) This stream is compressed using Lossless Compression of Apple (via a QuickTime codec), encrypted with AES 128 bits and then listened (airplay) with an AXE. The stream is buffered for about 2 seconds until the stream is sent. The AX deciphers the flow, decodes and exports in a digital or analog PCM (using a built-in DAC) flows to its audio analog-to-digital versatile optical port.

So, with the above, you can see that the tone does not simply move source to the destination without much more things. You will not be able to entirely eliminate the delay. Sorry!

  • What should be my time to latency resulting?

Please can someone tell me about what my time of latency that results should be in the Prox 10.2.4 logic?

I use an interface Apollo Twin Duo Thunderbolt, with a Macbook Pro 15' 2015 of the retina, Quad Core 2.8 ghz, 16gbRam, El Capitan 10.11.3

In preferences, it indicates the size of buffer 64

Result 10.2ms (exit 2.1ms) roundtrip latency

Is this normal?   If this latency is high, how can it be reduced?  I bought the most expensive interface that I could afford!

It's causing you problems?  Placement of record does not affect latency.

You can hear with the help of a live microphone or guitar/bass input.

The round-trip latency is high given the size of buffer, which means that somewhere in the chain either Apple or AU-Apollo has added additional buffers.

My material RME under Snow Leopard under Logic-9 shows:

Buffer size 128 round trip latency 7.3ms out 3.7

    "" 64 4.4ms roundtrip latency output 2.2

    ««32 2.9ms roundtrip latency output 1.5»

Normally the return buffer size is double (or slightly more) that the latency of the output, so in your case, it would be between 4.2 and 4.4ms. The pilot of Apollo or logic or the last OSX added buffers. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not Apple Core Audio, which uses the extra buffering... recent Mac operating systems are too heavy top and ineffective even if it's not that noticeable that the whole system is the additional use buffering, which is why so much RAM and open disk space is necessary. There is also the possibility that the extra buffers are part of the Thunderbolt interface?

  • AEBS latency problem

    Hi all

Recently I had a problem of serious latency with my 6th Gen Airport Extreme (model AC), which happens on the wired devices and connected wireless is not a wireless issue.  I tried a number of things to eliminate this problem... Rebooted the modem cable, restarted the AEBS, reset the AEBS to factory settings, downgraded the firmware as it seems to have started shortly after the 7.7.7 update, made sure that I wasn't sharing WIFI channels with the neighbors... None of these fixed the issue.  Just to make sure that it wasn't my access provider or the Internet in general having a bad week, I pulled out my old Netgear router, have everything connected to it and the latency problem disappeared.  I used it for a few days to make sure.  I have also connected my old Gen 4 AEBS and still no latency. I hooked the 6th Gen AEBS upward and returned latency, so I don't know what the source of the problem.  I tried to adjust some settings, but since this is the case for the cable connections and wireless, I guess it's more a hardware problem a matter of possible interference.  I have probably travelled all the troubleshooting steps, but thought I'd throw it out there when even to see if anyone else had any suggestions.

As a side to this note, I'm having a specific problem specific wireless.  Quite regularly, the individual devices are slowed to a crawl.  That is, for the moment my iPhone is listed as having a connection 802.11a/n/ac to 433Mbps, but after a while (sometimes hours, sometimes days), it will be reduced to 1 MB/s 802.11b/g/n.  One.  Although I am less than 10 feet from the router by means of a direct line of sight.  This also happens to my iPad, MacBook, iMac, actually all devices using a wireless connection.  The only way to remedy this is to reboot the router, restart the individual device doesn't fix it.  I got to the point of having to manually restart the router one or two times a week to make sure that everything is connected.  Products like Apple WIFI had some kind of keep alive or scheduled reboot setting.  Again, any thoughts?

    Thank you.

A few things come to mind:

    1. A number of Internet service providers began to role over IPv6.
    2. A possible incompatibility between the modem and your AirPort base station. Specifically, if you have an Arris / Motorola SB61XX-series modem.
    3. Your base station is defective.

We can try to help with any part of these elements.

  • Satellite A500-1 - latency USB problem

    Hi all.

I have problems with my USB latency. It doesn't matter what I've done in the audio interface. He returned always dropouts.

    Help, please

    Hello

What are the USB devices connect exactly?
This happens only with connected devices or on internal speakers too?

Are you running the factory settings? With these settings, it should work fine and also check that this latest version of the BIOS is installed.

  • 1 second latency since 3.2.3.  Tascam US-1641

I'm at my wits end with Mainstage questions.  I hope someone can help with this very specific question.

All of a sudden (I think only it coinsides with the 3.2.3 update, but I can't confirm that for sure) Mainstage experiences extreme latency of 1 second or more, whenever I use it.  I think it's a problem with my Tascam US-1641 because that disconnected from the system and using the system output works fine.  If the audio interface, how can I know if the purchase of another we won't get the same problems?

    Gear:

    * Macbook Pro 15 "retina 2015 -.

    * Interface USB Audio, Tascam US-1641

    * 2 USB Midi keyboards (MPK49 and Keith McMillan K-Board)

    * USB Hub 3 - only keyboards plug into it.  Interface goes to the Macbook to another USB port.

    What it does:

    * Latency is on the audio output only.  The MIDI activity is on-site with triggers

    * Standby time does not improve or worsen when you change IO buffer size or the latency of the driver settings.

    * Move to the output of the system solves the problem.  Latency is gone, but not through my audio interface of course.

    What I tried:

    * Advanced setting of the audio settings as stated above without any result.

    * I had stayed on OSX Yosemite for as long as possible.  As a last resort to try to solve this problem, I upgraded to El Capitan, but it did not fix it.

    * Establish a global production such as recommended by some Apple support forum discussion.  Sometimes it suits momentarily, but it always returns.

Sometimes change settings such as the implementation of outputs overall or change the Format of the digital output in the control Tascam US-1641 and S/PDIF back panel again the problem will be solved for a minute or two, then the sound glitches and goes immediately to the second 1 latency.

The title should be changed to make it clear, I don't mean the "Massive" plugin, but rather I was calling the massive latency.

Sorry if this is something you have already tried, but have you updated your interface with drivers El Cap?

  • See appeal of latency?

First of all, let me say I'm sorry if this question has already been answered or if this isn't the right place to post this question. I looked around a bit and can't seem to find good answers.

I was wondering if there is a way to see the time of latency, or other specifications, a call that you are in. Also if there is a way to make Skype completely close when I hit the red X that is supposed to close an application. Thank you for your time!

    Hello

How about driver sound, display driver and BIOS update.
    Have you tried that?

To be honest, I don't know if this could help you or not, but if an update is available, then you should do this

You said, audio performance is best when the GPU is disabled
It chip NVidia s then maybe you should take a look in the nVida forum in order to get more details

  • Latency of IMAP in Mail

No doubt others have asked this question, but I have not be able to locate the answers - so apologies in advance if it duplicates the previous messages.

I am a user of e-mail veteran, who moved from Eudora mail when I moved from POP IMAP in iCloud. I have * several * mailboxes, residing within other batches. Mail has always worked like a charm, but, since his arrival at El Capitan, there is a latency and boring when you perform routine operations. For example, I read and a message, only to discover later in the Inbox. I learned to leave "fluffy" for several minutes before deleting or moving them or try to delete attachments from messages. Even though I have a very fast Mac, abandonment of the Mail - and only Mail - may take several minutes. In the past, all these operations were virtually instantaneous.

Nothing in my situation has changed - beyond travel to El Capitan. (I'm running OS X on a Mac Pro 2013 10.11.3). It is if the Mail is in conversation at a leisurely pace with iCloud and not tolerate interruptions. Is this the new normal? Or is there something I can do to return the mail to its previous level of reactivity?

    John Heil

The current version of the letter isn't able to process subfolders of mailboxes on an IMAP or Exchange Server. If you create these subfolders, I suggest that you sign in to the account in a web browser, move messages out of the subfolders and then delete the subfolders. Use smart mailboxes to organize your e-mail.

  • Problem the A300 1EG satellite - horrible latency firewire external sound card

    Hello

I wanted to put my Toshiba laptop for music recording through Alesis Multimix Firewire, which is an external firewire sound card.
All the drivers are up to date and supported by Vista, I have on my computer.
Always when using Cubase, I get horrible latency and its impossible to work with.

So this way, I wanted to ask you, what firewire chipset is used in the A300 1EG specifications?
Could there be a problem with asio drivers or is it inconsistent?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that it s a common firewire port (4-pin) and chip firewire supports the standard IEEE-1394 commune.

In your case I recommend that you check the information and details posted by the sound card manufacturer.

Maybe guys something more known on own products and the problems that might appear to use it.

  • Your opinion about RAM latency

    Hello

This may seem like a silly question but, is it better (performance wise) have a high density of RAM with a high latency (e.g., 1 G CASE 5-5-5-15) GOLD of low density and low latency (512 MB 4-4-4-12, for example)?

    Thank you
    Oliver

    Hello Olivier

I guess I didn't understand you well, but I recommend you to use 1 GB of RAM. :)
Make sure that you are using compatible. By the way: I guess you have compatible RAM 1 GB module and M50 is PA3313U-2M1G.

  • Satellite A660-167 - audio latency very high indeed

    Hello guys.

I have a Toshiba A660-167 and I'm having a problem with the audio latency, it is actually very high.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit and I already tried using windows 7 32-bit and windows Xp but the problem remains.

Toshiba already tried to "fix" my problem, but as they said that my laptop works perfectly.
If someone knows something about the latency problem that his help will be very appreciated...

    Thanks in advance

    Hi dj_betty,

And how did you notice this problem of DPC latency?
You have a problem with noise or speakers as low volume or what?

I must say that my Satellite A660 runs great. I often listen to music with headphones or speakers in-house and have no problem at all. Music and video will be read correctly.
