Latitude D505 screen distortion

Ive been using my laptop for 2 years without any problems and all of a sudden when I turned it on last night, the screen is all distorted and I get charcters gibberish on the screen. I have hooked to an external monitor and got the same results on that. I know its obviously a hardware problem, but don't know if it's the VGA of the motherboard or LCD screen. I checked the LCD inverter and which was very good and also unplug all the cables the screen LCD and refixe them but has not fixed the problem.

Any suggestions? You want to know it its going to be worth the repair. Ive seen LCD for around $100 but motherboards is much more obviously.  Is it also possible if the VGA on the motherboard is not good, to replace just the VGA of this part?

Thank you

You can run The Apple Hardware Test / Diagnosis of Apple , but each of its possible results will lead to the same result:

    • identify a defective hardware that only Apple will be able to fix,
    • "no problem found" despite the fact that something is obviously wrong.
    • or an inability to run diagnostic tests due to the problem that you are experiencing.

  • Games screen distorts

I opened the games and selected Solitare. After the opening and the maps are prepared, I scroll on the screen and it distorts. He left shirnks and gray outside. Comes it to begin within this month. I have Windows 7. I noticed the NVIDIA updates will not install. Not sure if this has something to do with it. Has anyone go through this problem?

Never mind. I opened the mouse properties and deselected display pointer trails and problem solved. This was chosen in order to get my wireless mouse pointer to be seen on the 2nd monitor. Oddly I can now see the pointer of the mouse on the 2nd monitor too. Go figure. Computer drive me crazy :)  Laughing out loud

  • Wide screen distortion. XP

I have windows xp. I just installed a wide screen monitor. When I put the monitor to fill the screen, my programs are distorted (I don't get WYSIWYG). If I set it's small, my programs are not distorted, but I'm only using about 65% of the screen... the rest is black (a bit like mailbox). I want to be able to run both programs side by side, fill the screen, but do not have the programs distort.

  • Inspiron 15 3520 & Latitude E5520 screen swap?

    Hi all!

    I have an Inspiron 15 3520 with 1366 x 768 resolution

One of my friends has an E5520 Latitude with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Both are 15.6 and both seem to have the same connector according to several sites that sell replacement panels.

Would like to put a 1080 p Panel in my 3520 work?  I don't see why it wouldn't. Has anyone tried this before?

    Thanks in advance.

It seems that the two systems share panels.  If you're upgrading the resolution, you also need a new wire harness:

(if the connectors are identical, the harness for the high resolution screen has more than drivers - if you use the existing wiring, you will see an image blurred, partial.

The wiring harness is NOT cross compatible with the Latitude system.

  • Dell Latitude E5500 screen dark

    Hello

Bought a Dell Latitude E5500 off of eBay. The laptop is fully functional, but has problems with the brightness of the screen. When I go into the BIOS, I go in the video settings and the brightness of the screen. I have reset the BIOS default and activate the max battery brightness level and apply. This solves the problem for about 5 min and then goes back to decrease intensity. I heard someone on one other site mentions an inverter problem and would like to know for sure.

    Thank you!

  • for latitude e6430 screen converter

Hello, I am trying to replace the inverter screen for my e6430 latitude, is a 2012 model' slightly older ish. I have problems to find what screen inverter it is supposed to have. The problem I have is that my computer is completely black, but if shed you some light on the screen that you can see that it's always display there is no back light to turn on the screen. While doing some research on the Internet I found that most likely problem seems to be the inverter power of screens. If someone could help me by pointing me in the right direction for a UPS, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This model uses an LED backlight (as most of the systems built in the last years).  There is no power inverter, since there are no CCFL bulb to the power.

It is the screen itself that needs to be replaced or the motherboard that is the faulty part - start in replacing the screen.  If this does not resolve the problem, replace the motherboard.

  • No start on Latitude E6440 screen when it is docked

    Hello

I have a problem with the E6440 Latitude. When moored and hooked up to two monitors (1 vga and 1 DVI) it does not show the splash screen.  When I remove the DVI monitor and restart the device the bootscreen is projection... somehow the VGA port is blocked or something.

In our society, we use Bitlocker to all mobile devices and without showing the bootscreen it is difficult for the user to type the password.

I have already installed al the latest drivers for the video and the version of the BIOS A02 (for the most recent date of Dell).

Is there someone of another simular with this problem? or Dell is working on a new version of BIOS...? I don't think I'm alone with this and that Windows displays both screens when it is started, I really think it's a problem/bug in the BIOS.

    Help, please.

    Best regards

    Frank

BIOS A05 update solved the problem.

  • Capture the right third of screen distorted during

I'm capturing video from a Sony FX1000 on PE4.  I have a HP with XP 2002, 3.06 GHz, Pentium 4, 3 GB of Ram.  I'm trying to capture in HD 1080i, 16:9.  Problem is that I only get good quality 4:3 on the left side of the frame.  The rest of the image on the right is clear enough, but the colors are distorted.

    settings.jpg

Here are my settings: NTSC HDV HDV 1080i30.  I think I have the camera correctly implemented.  iLink conversion is properly 'Off', and I followed the other instructions in the manual.  But of course, Miss something somewhere.

I also loaded PE draw via Firewire, not USB.  Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

I tried to get a picture of the image I am getting, but for some reason, when I hit print screen and paste on paint, the capture screen appears black.

Thanks for the help (I need a lot).

    Doug

I saw a reference by Bill Hunt in your other thread, which suggests that you are based in the United Kingdom. If this is the case should not be using a PAL preset?

After loading in PRE, with the distortion, share it on a rewritable DVD or DV - AVI file and see if the result looks good at reading on a real DVD player. If it does mean we are dealing only with display problems and nothing more serious.

    See you soon,.

  • Latitude D610 screen turns off after the Windows XP loading screen

I'm having a problem with my Latitude D610 where after the Windows XP loading screen, the screen turns off completely. No BSOD, no login screen, just a white screen. This started happening at least a year, however, I bought a new computer if it is passed to the hatch. I tried the system restore when it appeared first without success. The computer starts in Mode safe. Any suggestions?

If it starts in mode without failure, then its almost certainly a driver and with the blank screen problem, I suspect a display driver.

One of the overall changes for Windows XP in Firefox 26 has the ability to play media MPEG video player built-in to Firefox instead of having to use a plugin. But if this affects the pages without the media, which is probably not relevant.

Could you try another setting related to disabling acceleration? This one requires a visit in the topic: configuration preferences editor.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste gfx and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference gfx.content.azure.enabled from true to false.

I don't remember if it takes effect immediately or after that you quit and then restart Firefox.

  • Screen distorted when turned on Satellite U405

    Hi all

I hope someone can help me with what to do - I bought a Satellite U405 laptop in the United States last summer (June 2008) and I used it fine until last week. When I turned on the other day, I got this on the screen - http://i34.tinypic.com/20ixjli.jpg and http://i34.tinypic.com/2j32ngx.jpg for a second opinion.

What can cause this problem and how can I solve this problem?

    Hello!

It seems that the internal screen is broken and needs to be replaced.

You can fix that if you replace the screen by yourself or you go to an authorized service provider. Exchange of the screen is a little tricky and you need very careful. Also a lot of screws must be removed, so this should be done to professional people.

I recommend you contact an authorized service provider that you can find on the Toshiba site. They will help you.

    Good bye

  • DV7-4060US screen distorted after 1 or 2 minutes

I have a DV7-4060US who just started acting very strange. After a minute or two, the graphics go all weird. Sometimes, you can still see windows, but there are strange box type blocks that appear in the display. The image and strange boxes are also present when I have an external monitor on as well. So, I tried several things to solve the problem with no luck.

    1. I replaced the hard drive with another that starts with windows and made exactly the same thing. (I simply upgrade the hard drive internal to a DDI and the problem occurs with the player.)

2 removed the RAM chips (2 x 2 GB chips) and it don't beep solid on the post, then when I put 1 back, (or the other I tested it this way at a time), then the display does the same things again, with a ram chip.

3 removed the wireless card and tried. (same question)

    4. all removed from the PC and cleaned the fan completely and reassembled. No luck - same question.

    5. deleted the card system (615687-001) and pulled the heat sync it completely and cleaned all the heat sync paste from it. Then, I reapplied new paste and reassembled everything. -Still no luck.

So here is my question - I'm torn as to time, I have a problem of System Board (615687-001) or (594168-001) processor problem. Part of me is leaning toward the issue of the Board of Directors system because there are more components failed (the luck of the draw on things more as the question on the processor), but there is a nagging me who think that problems with the screen can be related to a processor overheating that has been damaged and now when it is about 1-2 minutes then goes all wobbly. Remember, once he went weird, then it won't start and starts from a pure white. When it does this, then there are times that if let him us stay on the white screen, it will go eventually to a normal screen and be waiting for select us the option "start windows normally".

Someone out there with other thoughts for me to try?

Sounds like the system of Council-more precisely the graphics chip. There has been some who arrive to overcome - at least for a while - the failure of gpu to reinvest the gpu chip. There are many tutorials on the internet and youtube to reinvest...

  • Screen distortion and DirectX disabled.

My screen is very bright and stretched horizontally so that everything is elliptical. Also, when I try to play a game of office, I receive an error message that DirectX is not enabled. I restored to an earlier date, but once automatically load it all updates, the problem comes right back. If anyone has had these problems and, if so, how could you fix them? I'm sure it's a virus, but I can't seem to find any information out there that describes these problems. Thanks for your help!

    Hey Rockin,

If you have problems getting a game or movie to play properly, the DirectX Diagnostic tool can help you locate the source. DirectX is a set of technologies used by many of the multimedia programs in Windows.
