Latitude D620 and Windows 10

Will Dell releasing the NVIDIA updated drivers for this laptop plus compatible with Windows 10.  The pilots of the stocks in the pre-release version of Windows do not support a low resolution.

I know this is an older laptop, but it works very well and is always quick and current.

I bet it's the 64-bit version that is the problem... I have nine computers and eight of the nine that I've successfully upgraded to Windows 10 32 - bit (Some Home and some Pro)... I stayed in the world of 32-bit and I'm glad I did... I have no reason to go to more than 32-bit 4 GB of RAM (3.2 to 3.5 depending on the system) is very well what I do... I'm not a gamer I don't need a video card super uber (all my video cards are 512 MB of ram)... And most of the applications are still 32-bit only. Tests were conducted on the same computers comparing 32-bit and 64-bit, and only a few applications (Photo/video editing, etc.) are significantly faster with 64 bit. For most 32-bit is fine, but the industry has been pushing 64-bit heavy for these past years (for really no good reason for most users).

I was actually upgraded the Latitude D620 about two weeks ago and had tried a different video driver then but this morning she appeared in my head I tried the wrong video driver (my card in my D620 is a NVidia card)...

When I downloaded the Vista 32-bit driver Nvidia today he immediately installed. Now, I again have a nice resolution... EVERYTHING in my D620 works with no exclamation point in Device Manager.

My D620 is on 24/7 365 days a year running my weather station software downloading on the Internet around the clock. I bought there are almost 4 years used for about $120... good enough dealio...

I have only a laptop that has not managed to install Windows 10 (Fujitsu Lifebook A6120)... Even not to keep anything saying it can't install... She may be destined to remain Windows 7... all my computers, with the exception of a Winbook (also improved to win 10 Windows 8.1) are at least five years or more... And all are running Windows 10 32-bit Home or Pro with no problems.

Refer to the issue of having not to reduce, enlarge, close buttons on applications using the Nvidia of Vista 32 bit on Latitude D620 driver... I realized after I posted that it is easy to close applications... You just point down to the taskbar of the application and the small window appears in the taskbar indicating your APP... This window has a big RED X to close the APP... That is how close the applications easily. And like I said is that the APPS that have missing buttons... Normal PC applications buttons are there very well... So it seems that my DELL D620 will continue on and on and if I have a failure I'll pick up just another D620 used for cheap...

If you absolutely do not need 64-bit (and I can't imagine why anyone would need 64-bit on D620 I would reinstall Windows 32-bit 10 and see how you (should go well and to enter the 32-bit driver for Vista for the D620 leave the Dell Web site...) SEE YOU SOON!

  • Audio problem with Dell Latitude E6420 and Windows 8.1

    Hello community,

I installed Windows 8.1 on my Latitude E6420 and I can get the sound to work. I installed the drivers available for Windows 8, but he doesn't play any sounds. The only thing that works continuously via a browser (e.g. youtube). When I test the device "speakers / headphones ' this is for me a"Failed to play test sound."but the"helmet of communication"device works without any problem.

I can not activate the device "speakers / headphones" because it blocks other applications (Lync 2013) so I have to keep this option disabled.

I look on the web for similar problems and it all points to the drivers for the video card (!)

Is there a version of driver for this model? Or I can not use the latest version of the software in this model?

Hello. See here for a list of Dell of the models that work with 8 and 8.1. Dell recommends not installing 8.1 on the Latitude E6420 model. Dell said 8 is correct but does not provide an audio driver IDT even for 8. I don't think that there will be provided by any Dell IDT audio driver for 8.1 since it is not recommended to install. This means that you must use the native audio driver supplied with Windows. The native driver is generic and you can usually get audio to work when using it but not all functions are working properly. All I can suggest is to find the generic audio driver in Device Manager (I don't know how it is in the list) and try to 'update' by allowing Windows to search for an update on the internet.

Maybe someone at our Windows 8 jury can suggest an audio driver IDT, you can try to use. If you post here tell them that you already posted on the Audio card to the laptop so that they will not move your message here.

  • Dell Latitude d630 and Windows 7

Does anyone know why Dell does not support Win7 on a Dell Latitude d630?

This machine was built with Windows Vista 32 - bit o/s on 24 November 2008. The date of the original invoice was on May 22, 2009. Win7 was not released until October 2009. The guy I bought it from had installed Win7 and I don't have the disks of backup or restore with it. It works fine except it doesn't have enough RAM, (which is not a big deal). The problems occurred when I tried to update the drivers and found that there is no driver for this model with Win7. When I called Dell, they said that they do not support Win7 on this laptop.

So I was just curious to know if anyone knew why? I won't lose money, upgrading the RAM if Win7 is going to be a problem.

Although W7x86 lists 1 GB as the minimum, I found 2GB for the sweet spot minimum.

More RAM is always a good investment, and even if you decide not to run W7 on this PC (I hope that your friend bought the license outright to pass on to you), more RAM will be beneficial to XP, Ubuntu or another OS, you decide to run on it.  However, more RAM is unable to completely cure your slow, because this might be a result (partially or totally) infections by malware, software problems, corruption of the file system or a bad hard drive... a reinstall to your specifications may be in order.

You can also try searching the forums (or Internet) to get an idea of real world experiences.  I think that there should be no problem... I managed a few s D830 (similar systems - a step towards the top, but even age/line) at work who has installed and have run W7 flawless.

  • Dell Latitude D620 processor update...

Hi all, great forum you have here...

I have an old Dell Latitude D620 and I want to upgrade the processor.  The specifications are the following:

    • Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66 GHz) CPU
    • 2 GB RAM DDR2-800
    • 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
    • Windows 7 Professional

Am I correct in thinking that I can go to any processor 667 Mhz FSB?  SO what would be the fastest processor I can get (I think Core 2 Duo 7400 and 7600)?

Looking at the Intel 845 chipset GM compatible products (http://ark.intel.com/products/chipsets/22816) that they do, but I thought I'd better check here first before buying.  Change from 2 MB to 4 MB L2 cache would affect something?

    Thank you very much!

  • Bluetooth, Windows 7 and a Dell Latitude D620 problem

    Hello Microsoft,

I scanned the internet, Microsoft KBs, and many of the forums and the SIGs. Nothing worked from suggestions made by MSFT people.

My problem is this: I have a MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 that I was not able to match, much less to do with my laptop. Even for a PDA to BT, BT cell and another mouse MS BT.

The laptop is dual-boot with XP Pro SP3 and Win7 32-bit Enterprise.
The mouse is seen and usable under the XP boot. Three other BT devices work well with XP on this laptop. When you try to add the device in Win7, I get nothing. The dialoge Watch window it is looking, but no device appears. I checked that the devices are configured to be open and ready for pairing on the mouse and other devices that I run on XP.

    I tried the things:
-Check the device in the devices, Win7 installation manager, is Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module, provider of CSR plc, date 06/11/2006 driver, driver version is 1.0.0.370 and signed by Microsoft.
-Check the device in Device Manager, is Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, provider is Microsoft, 06/21/2006 driver date is, the driver version is 6.1.7600.16385, signed by Microsoft.
-The parameters of the Bluetooth application on the taskbar, there the box "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" checked in the Options tab.
-L' material tab for the application settings Bluetooth indicates that the device is functioning properly.
-L' devices Control Panel app Bluetooth does not appear in Control Panel.
-J' went to the Microsoft Support site and downloaded and installed the IntelliPoint application without modification.
-J' downloaded and installed (after removing the proevious version) of the module drivers and IntelliPoint app as a normal installation and in compatibility mode for Vista 32 bit.
-J' tried the Module 360 drivers in native mode and compatibility.
-The module drivers came directly from the Dell site.

My network card (with BT) is the Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini Card, Broadcom, driver date 21/08/2009, version of the driver 5.60.18.8, signed by Microsoft.
-Collaboration Bluetooth is set to Auto.

I read in this forum that Win7 RC1 and RC2 version did not have this problem.

What I want is for Microsoft to provide the fix for this problem and not to redirect the question to drivers (who are MS).

All my stuff works in XP.
It also works on Vista Home (mobile friends).

Please provide a fix and take responsibility.

    Thank you

  • Latitude D620: what can I improve screen resolution?

HI: I have a Latitude D620, which I like a lot, but now I want to edit photos. The max screen resolution is only 1024 x 768? The display is a non - PNP monitor generic standard VGA graphic adapter. Is it possible to improve the resolution of my screen with the new software, drivers or hardware? Thank you!

    -Charles

    Hello Charles,

Thanks for writing on the Dell Community Forum. Here, I wish to inform that the display resolution maximum supported by the LCD is 280 x 800 WXGA. But the when a monitor no PNP is attached the resolution depends on the monitor, the type of connector used and to some extent the graphics card.

I would ask provide you the model of monitor and maintain the label of the system (by private message) so that I can look into the details of the system to help you best.
