  Soft light is very subtle. It is difficult to see what looks like the layer below it, but it seems pretty gray with black lines. The magenta "BOLD" will dominate this gray, which is practically neutral with the overlay as a soft light mode. What you trying to do?

  Hello users of Photoshop.

  I try to take photos of birds that I can't identify. I'm not taking pictures of birds that sit nicely on a sunny branch, 30 feet away, waiting to have his picture taken. My birds is often backlit by heaven, or sitting in a pocket of shadow surrounded by branches and leaves on sunny, or in the deep and dark woods. So often the bird itself is overexposed, or underexpoxed, or blurred because the auto focus tageted a nearby branch or the sheet.  I'm only interested in the bird itself. I'm not much interested in the landscape around it.

  I was wondering if layers help me to correct the image of the bird itself, better than brightness controls, contrast, exposure, made highlights and shadow? It would be worth taking me the time to learn the layers to this effect? Layers allow to sharpen a picture off focus better than the sharpness control?

  Hi Harry,.

  ultimately layers will not help you get a bad image. By as previously suggested all you will do is to create a background of distraction that is blurry and a bird not targeted. Layers can really help a bad image. You have selected an object that can be frustrating, but also rewarding. Patience and practice is the way to go.

  You have a cable free installation on your camera, can you implement using a lens wide angle more close to your subject and to remote trigger? A lens wide angle is always better for the depth of field.

  That said, all this by using layers and blend modes, you can create effects that will change the perception of the image.

• Layer naming in Adobe Draw

  Why is it you can not press and hold to rename a layer in Adobe draw? Why don't the names on layers so all layers are the same name?

  You know people want layers, help you when you use "Send to Illustrator" but you don't give the user the ability to rename the layers? They all have the same name to 'Draw the layer' for what reason? It's absurd behavior.

  One hand allow a user to organize and compose with layers, but won't let them change a title to set the layer to make the flawless organization. It is a flaw in the logic. Dev sloppy IMO.

  And then, maybe, you can rename the layer, but you hid the ability so that it is not intuitive enough to understand?

  But like most of the questions in this forum, that's going to go unanswered, I'm sure.

  The whole point of a forum is to find answers, what I tend to find out whenever I come is just bad excuses and vague promises.

  And why is development on this app so slow? You should have this feature and many more missing features added in already. This tells me that Adobe is either going to axe this app like they did Adobe ideas or staff resources have divided their attention. Features of way and support is at best half back. But I digress.

  The text of "Draw the layer" is intended to distinguish between the layers that you can draw and have pictures. Currently, there is never a single Photo layer to the draw. There is also currently no support for naming your individual layers. Such a feature has been requested before, but he has yet to make it on our list of priorities. Thanks for the feedback and feature request. I'm sorry I can't say if or when it will be in the product, but there are a number of other improvements that we have in the pipeline.

• A specific question

  Hey everybody,

  I have not much/any experience with "Adobe After Effects", I need to do something. At the moment I'm not looking for to learn how to do everything, I just need to get this thing done before I can begin to learn.

  I have a pre-made video, it's a logo, even if I need to change some of the effects and add new things.

  That's what I intended:

  The subtext are starting to turn into a rocky as the texture (if necessary I done a rock texture in Photoshop) and eventually crumble away to leave a new Word.

  Change the background of "red circle" (part of the logo) of icy blue, lighty as soon as the new Word appears.

  Make a wave of "nova-like" icy blue light out of the base circle as it appears the new Word.

  I need to get there, at this stage, all that. If someone could help me through what would be great!

  I'm messing around with it, for a few hours now, I realized, however, that I am not able to do it myself, not in the time I have. I would need much more time to go through all these tutorials and learn all about After Effects to get what I need to do.

  I would be eternally grateful!

  Please do as I suggested in my previous post: take the time to look at the range of video tutorials that I have indicated, end-to-end, or read the introductory material that I have indicated. It will just take a weekend or more. And then you will have a much better grounded. You try to do things very advanced with a complex program. You won't succeed by diving into the middle. And you'll burn through your goodwill with the volunteers on a forum like this, if you didn't appear to try to help you.

• buttons change layers when creating interactive PDF HELP!

  I have a lot of documents with images that need to be enlarged, so for each image (a few pages with a single image, others with 4 or 5) I create the image as a button.  In a new layer called overlay, I create a greybox on the page and the bigger picture and more than (the two buttons and hidden initially).

  If the layers order goes like this:

  Big picture (top)

  GreyBox

  small image.

  Preview interactive ePub in InDesign is on-site.  The button to reveal and hide the images correctly and are in the correct order.

  HOWEVER, when I generate an interactive PDF, pages look fine until I click on a button, but once I click on a picture, I get:

  big picture is cut UNDER the greybox.

  Small image is above the large image.

  I published the document online and when displayed in a browser, all the problems disappear (I remember that it uses the same engine as the preview interactive ePub) but when I download the on-line document, the errors come back.

  I feel really it is a bug in InDesign (Adobe listening?) and if anyone has had similar problems, I'd like to hear about them.

• All of a sudden, I can't open a PNG file in layers.  I get a message file could not be found. Help!

  I work with multilayer files in photophop CS6 creating composite photograph.  All of a sudden, I can't open the PNG files.  I get a message that the file cannot be found when I try to open it.  Can someone help me please?

  A quick search on Google turned up the news I knew vaguely.

  PNGs in layers are only produced by Macromedia (later Adobe Fireworks more) using a proprietary format that has never been publicly documented.  Thus, it seems that only Adobe Fireworks can open the png with the layers intact. Whether or not you can export these layers in another file format and to open in another application with everything intact seems to be up in the air.

  Fire of artifice is not updated anymore and it seems that Adobe doesn't have a plan for png supports layers and the proprietary format is removed.

  Some people seek to affinity as a possible replacement for Photoshop.

  However to quote some comments from their FAQ:

  FAQ - fireworks in layers of PNG and TIFF files in layers

  Since this question comes up often, I write a definitive statement.

  Files PNG Fireworks (layers)

  There is no such thing as "layered PNG.  The standard PNG does not define a way to store diapers and only deals with flattened images.

  Fireworks saves the data of the extra layer of PNG files in a proprietary format with a private label. A definition for this exclusive data has never been made public.  Saved by Fireworks PNG still usable as a flattened image of any application able to handle PNG files.  These applications will maintain the standard data and ignore the proprietary data of fireworks.

  Affinity maintains the standard PNG files.  But it cannot import or export data from the layer by using the method of fireworks.

  There is no hope that we will always be able to manage the data layer from Fireworks PNG files.

  We recognize that being able to handle Fireworks PNG files would be very useful for users of affinity.  If a public definition of the format of data become available, we will be able to address the issue.

  Layered TIFF files

  There is no such thing as "layered TIFF.  The TIFF standard handles only images flattened under the tags described to the public.

  TIFF allows businesses to record any additional tags for their own use. Adobe has recorded two private TIFF tags that allow them to incorporate the layer data in a TIFF file.  These tags are an extension and are not part of the standard TIFF Central.  These tags are used to integrate data layer PSD into a TIFF image, in addition to the standard rasterized image.

  Since affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import data from the layer of a TIFF file if it has these tags.  However, given that this is handled by our PSD importer that is subject to the restrictions as standard PSD Import in affinity.  We clearly that while we aim to provide the best third party support PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop deals and displays a PSD file.  Photoshop has its own approach to apply the transparency/alpha, vector and features of vector, layer effects and gradient masks.  This means that although we can offer the importation of what can be changed to a PSD file, the result will not be a reproduction of a one pixel that you see in Photoshop.

  We recorded our own TIFF tags for the incorporation of the data layer of affinity in a TIFF file, in a similar way to the data layer PSD. This is intended for the dams that use TIFF as their Exchange format.  When you save a TIFF file, you are given the option to include data of layer affinity.  This will help keep the editable document of several layer elements.  This obviously comes at a cost of increased size.  Our TIFF labels will use our format proprietary data and as such, cannot be used by the applications of affinity.

  Their admission that same PSD are not guaranteed to be a reproduction of a tone pixel that you see in Photoshop, combined with the use of the affinity of the TIFF layers and tags "our TIFF labels will use our format proprietary data and as such, cannot be used by affinity applications." is a bit worrying consequences for everyone who has the hope that affinity would be a complete replacement for Photoshop

• Help with print layers

  I bought several reasons for sewing of pdf that are made so that you can print the layer with the size you need. I followed all the directions, but I can't make the layers appear. I use my iMac with OS El Capitan Office and upgrade to the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Other people can see the layers and select/deselect them for printing. The first picture is what I see. The second is another person with the same boss sees on his Mac. Can someone help me get the layers appears? Thank you!

  

  

  Well, I solved my problem. I downloaded another model with layers of a different website and it worked. I went back to the original and downloaded it again and this time it worked. Yes, problem solved! I have no idea why it wouldn't work the first time.

• Need help for printing layers

  I'm doing a 10 punch cards for work - business card size. My first coat is a simple blue box following that is a layer that is like the peas of drawings as flyers. I have the next addition of text and a logo more these layers. When I look in illustrator, the lines are clean and there is no interference on the text. However, when I print on the side of the text is slightly curved ever so lightly in some right to the areas where the points would be under. The main background is blue, the points are gray and the text is white. I don't know ANYTHING about illustrator - I have taught myself this week. Also, I wonder if the printer prints white ink when I use white text? Or is it just a way to die cut the text instead? Any help would be great!

  Do you mean the letters are bumpy and do not have a sharp edge?

  We do not know anything about your printing device or how magnified the image displayed is. Either you have a printer low resolution or maybe that you don't have a postscript. If you make a PDF of your file and print to leave Acrobat would look better if you don't have postscript in your printer. I doubt these are your print settings also bit driver even as change you the resolution and doubt you manually changed.

  Group the blue arrow, duplicate the lower orange arrow, put it (edit: one of the two!) at the top of the group with the blue arrow, layer > create clipping mask.

• Impossible to select one of the layers in my menu accordion. Help, please!

  It's super confusing to me and I don't understand why it's happening. Basically, I am building my portfolio page (I'm a video editor) and I decided to use an accordion for the different types of videos I have. The layer 'Interviews & documentaries' is now totally inactive. I can not select and open it as I do with the other layers. However, when I go to preview mode it works fine. In preview mode, I can open it and see everything inside. But I can't do anything for it in Design view. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

  Most likely, it is locked. Open the page in Design view and go to the object and click on 'unlock all on Page'

  If the 'Interviews & documentaries' was locked this command will unlock and you will be able to select it.

• Need help with custom script to rename the layers

  Hello world.

  I need help to write a custom script (because I suck at it) that will allow me to go through all the layers and sous-calques for a specific name ('X') and give it a new specific name ('Y').

  I have had success using the script below, but it does not work on any text layers names where the text layer was previously particularly well-known in 'X' and now changed needs.

  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  * Note: this script was originally used to find any layer with 'Copy' in its name and remove with anything after (to correct the problem of duplication of layers by adding this text).

  This is why the function is named removeCopy. It works for renaming layers also - just not a layer of text unfortunately.

  I finally found something after searching forums for a week. My confusion was related to the way Illustrator treats real layers against text/path/object "layers." Instead of layers, I had to use the pageItems in the script. The code below works. Thanks to Gustavo for his answer in another thread and Carlos I thank you for this looking too good! You're great to be ready to help models do more advanced things with Illustrator.

• Merge layers with the help of colored text!

  I try on the creation of this project of type collage with three different letters using the three primary colors of color (in my case, red-green-blue), and when the letters overlap, I need the colors created to act, magenta and cyan. I have three distinct layers with each of the letters on them. I'm new to photoshop and have been trying to figure how to do this. I have attached some samples to try to show what I'm looking for. The second photo was a screen mixture applied to my bed with the Z, but the rest Z disappears, except where A button. This effect of magenta, is what I'm after. How can I get this same effect, but with the rest of the visible Z?

  

  

  Hello Zach,

  You can do what you want that way. The blending mode to use is linear Dodge (Add). But what really makes work

  holds the separate background letters. If you create a group for the letters, but make sure your

  background of the composition is outside this group. You assign the group itself a normal blending mode.

  Don't worry about the effect of grinding, I did it just to make it more visually interesting, but its not needed.

  I'm an Art Director who is very familiar with the following Adobe CC - but something strange happening that I can't understand. I'm working on a project that must constantly updated Web pages when providing info, etc. changes - so I need to make small alterations quick both imaging and copying. My big problem is everytime I save the PSD, it automatically rasterizes all text layers within the entire file. I have never experienced this problem before - and it's super super frustrating. Help

  Would suggest to reset the preferences of Photoshop to the default state and then try to save the PSD file.

• Composition of import retain layers problems. Help, please!

  I have Adobe After Effects CS5 10.0.0.458.

  When I try to import a layered Illustrator file in AE as a "composition - keep the size of the layer" in this case: -.

  

  My layout of the Illustrator is all bundled together when it really should look as below (which works if I just import in the form of "composition", but obviously the centres all anchor points which is what I don't want)

  

  Can someone explain why this could happen? If yes how can I fix it?

  In order to maintain the position, you must open the comp that is created when you import the file HAVE as a model by keeping the size of the layer. You cannot drag all the layers in a new comp and the end of the layers to the top of any where, but in the center of the model because the anchors are all in the center of their respective layers.
