Although the computer says the printer is connected it is flashing the light several times - about 15 but does not print anything. I tried to reinstall the USB driver but this makes no difference. One thought I have is that Windows XP cannot deal with a wireless connection, but also a connection usb, if yes can I have go back to wired connections?

My desktop computer, but does not print even if it seems to recognize that it is there. The printer is communicating with my computer and let me know the ink level is low. My scanner works perfectly and scans the computer, no problem. But whenever I try to print, the computer tells me that the printer is offline. I tried to disable Norton firewall, no difference. I tried to uninstall the software, and oddly enough, during the uninstall process, an exceptional print request was printed! When I reinstalled, same problem. Any ideas?

  The lines that you describe would generally caused by a small file specifications (or some spec) on the thin glass to the left of the bed main scanner.  Open the scanner cover and clean the thin glass.  It can help to shine a bright light which is held at a slight angle to the bed of the front.  This would be to highlight the areas to be cleaned.

  When you say 'LAN', are you referring to the network or you try to share the printer on the network?

  How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)

  If you have noticed that the port is causing problems, please download and run the print and Scan doctor, it will be probably diagnose and fix the problem you are experiencing.
