lazorjetpro: black vertical line when copying but does not print

When copying or scanning/printing of a document, we get a thin black line in the middle of the page, but not if we print from the computer directly to the printer.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? If the line appears only when copying or scanning from the ADF Document (CAD) the line is almost always caused by a specification (or two) on the thin strip of glass to the left of the main scanner glass.  See here for more information on how to clean this area.  It may help to use a strong flashlight held almost flat against the glass to see the spot.

    It is now resolved.  It seems that there is a strip of glass that is used for the automatic copy of power and research.  The glass has a note on it that I cleaned which solved my problem of vertical line.

    My desktop HP compaq core 2 duo machine is connected to two printers with the help of a brother network cable and a usb cable for the LJ1018 but I decided to connect the brother wireless to my network, because it allowed me to use my netbook without having to plug in a usb or network cable. I also created my office to connect wireless to the brother and it works fine, but now I find that I can not use the LJ1018 that I think only has a usb cable connection. Although the computer says the printer is connected it is flashing the light several times - about 15 but does not print anything. I tried to reinstall the USB driver but this makes no difference. One thought I have is that Windows XP cannot deal with a wireless connection, but also a connection usb, if yes can I have go back to wired connections?

My scanner works perfectly and scans the computer, no problem. But whenever I try to print, the computer tells me that the printer is offline. I tried to disable Norton firewall, no difference.     The lines that you describe would generally caused by a small file specifications (or some spec) on the thin glass to the left of the bed main scanner.  Open the scanner cover and clean the thin glass.  It can help to shine a bright light which is held at a slight angle to the bed of the front.  This would be to highlight the areas to be cleaned.

    When you say 'LAN', are you referring to the network or you try to share the printer on the network?

    How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)

    If you have noticed that the port is causing problems, please download and run the print and Scan doctor, it will be probably diagnose and fix the problem you are experiencing.

    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)
