LC r710

Nice day

There is a problem with my LC can't connect to it and the uefi boot is not accessible, so packed repair cannot be used.

also when opening omsa is any server info.

I have reset the drac, but no change is there a solution?

Looks like that the iDRAC is not fully initialized. If you are unable to Flash the firmware of the iDRAC and clear the NVRAM memory doesn't help then the only thing left to do is take the system at least at the post OFFICE. If the iDRAC still fails to initialize properly with the system at least to the STATION then you probably need to replace the iDRAC express. I don't think that it is a component you can order on this system because it is part of the default configuration, so you would probably need to replace the motherboard to replace the iDRAC express.

Thank you

  • Internal hard drive inside Dell PowerEdge R710

    Well then clarify first of all. This server is NOT used in a business environment. Its literally being used as a home media server (Yes, exaggerated way I know but I got for free so who is complaining).

    IM currently using a PowerEdge 2950 as my media server, I just took his upgrade, a R710 Gen 2 and I would like to use all 6 bays at the front for hard drives that I can put the plates on instead of 1 for the operating system and then everything else for the media.

    How I would go about installing an internal hard drive, preferably a SSD, inside the R710. I know it has a free SATA port but I can't seem to see the spare power cables or cables molex as there is in the Gen 3 2950 I.

    If it is not possible, it's quite good, but I would like to have installed an internal hard drive.

    I know there is a USB port, but I use Windows Server R2 2012 (probably soon to be Server 2016) but I'm not sure if Windows Server can be installed on the internal USB port.

    If you need to record, or on the label of service I can give you this information.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Arron

    Thanks for the clarification. It's something that you can try, but it is not supported and there is no guarantee that the SSD will be detected and it works perfectly. Try this P/N GP700 cable

  • Edge of power R710 with MBE2147RC SAS 6 GB/s 146 GB, 15K RPM in a RAID5 configuration replace it with another disc?

    Hello!!

    We have here R710 breaks with the SAS 5 hard drive MBE2147RC model in a RAID5 configuration and we need to buy spare parts, but here they say they only 12Gbps of 300 GB 10 k RPM sas

    My question is that these drives are compatible in a RAID5 configuration to use? or do I need another model?

    For example:

    http://www.xByte.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=CAT_4971_45

    Readers must be certified Dell, but do not buy them from Dell. Many authorized dealers carry Dell readers - their choice is often better and their prices are almost always better than buying directly from Dell.

    As long as readers are certified, so it doesn't matter what brand/model, you get... readers CAN be larger than the original. They CAN be slower (10K / 15K), but this is NOT desirable, because your table will be made according to the specifications of the most slow/smaller disc in the table.

  • R710 IDRAC6 series via ssh: connect com2 returns COMMAND NOT RECOGNIZED

    Hello

    I configured successfully on ssh several times serial console redirection on different dell servers, but now I'm stuck with two R710s.

    The problem

    I can't use the connect command:

    /Admin1-> connect com2

    BIOS is 6.1.0, cli version output is:

    /Admin1-> version
    CLP SM Version: 1.0.2
    SM ME treat Version: 1.0.0b

    I have configured the redirection as before:

    BIOS

    Communication series

    On with the Console via COM2 Redirection

    Address of the Serial Port Device1 Serial = COM1, Serial Device2 = COM2
    Connector external series Remote access equipment
    Failsafe baud rate 115200
    Remote Terminal type VT100/VT220
    Redirection after boot People with disabilities

    iDRAC

    /Admin1/system1/SP1-> racadm config-g cfgSerial o cfgSerialBaudRate 115200
    Value of the object successfully changed
    /Admin1/system1/SP1-> racadm config-g cfgSerial o cfgSerialConsoleEnable 1
    Value of the object successfully changed
    /Admin1/system1/SP1-> racadm config-g cfgSerial o cfgSerialSshEnable 1
    Value of the object successfully changed
    /Admin1/system1/SP1-> racadm config-g cfgSerial o cfgSerialHistorySize 2000
    Value of the object successfully changed

    The command is now console, not connect.

    And that's exactly what is said in the docs - it's just that I had not noticed the change and read 'connect', where 'console' was written.

    A big thanks to Lars Handrick Support Dell Germany for reporting the change of command name for me.

  • Connect a Powervault MD1200 to a PowerEdge R710 5.1 running esx using SAS cables

    Hello

    I bought a Powervault md1200 and a perc h800 controller.

    I'll install the perc controller in my PowerEdge r710 5.1 running esx server.

    Then connect the md1200 to the r710 via sas cables. The powervault is no NIC.

    My question is, how to configure the RAID while booting the r710? I understand that if I were on Windows, I could use open manage but I'm not familiar with how to do this from a 5.1 esx server.

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Thank you

    Flynn

    Hello Flynn,

    What you need to do is to go into the Bios of your H800 controller and you can then configure your virtual disk MD1200.  Once you have the virtual disk created, then you will be able to do a scan in ESX & he should see the virtual disk that are created.  To access the boot controller bios you need to hit Ctrl + C to enter the bios.

    Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • R710/R720 - Dell customized Image of VMware ESXi 5.5 Update 2 - megaraid_sas version specific?

    That I improve a R710 and two v5.5 (Dell image) to v5.5 U2 ESXi ESXi R720 using the image of Dell here:

    www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

    The documentation "Upgrade Guide to ESXi 5.5 using Dell customized Image" here:

    www.Dell.com/.../manuals

    indicates that a specific version of the megaraid_sas driver must be installed.

    Is the version megaraid_sas that installs with the image of Dell U2 v5.5 not the right version?

    I just ran the upgrade on a R710 and it's the megaraid_sas version installed:

    ~ # vmkload_mod s megaraid_sas | grep Version
    Version: Version 06.803.73.00, build: 1331820, Interface: 9.2 inspired: August 22, 2014

    Thank you.

    Hello

    It lists the R720 and R710 systems supported and both link to the same page, so the customized version is the same for both servers. Is the version listed in the reference guide for A02

    megaraid_sas - 06.803.73.00

    Page 5 ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_virt_solutions/vmware-esxi-5_Reference%20Guide6_en-us.pdf

    This is the same version that he shows for your installation on the R710 so that seems correct.

  • Reference Dell R710, Dell and VMware VAAI MD3200

    Hi guys, we have 3 x Dell R710 hosts running VMware ESXi hypervisor v5.1. Our SAN is via Dell MD3200 Direct attached storage. We have activated the option of High Performance. My question is about VMware VAAI. In particular, the recommendation of VMware: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1033665 it says: "For more information on support VAAI in a particular storage group or required firmware levels, contact the storage array provider." So I'm wondering: is VAAI supported (or not) with the MD3200... and otherwise: should I be deactivation of VAAI settings as recommended by VMware? What are the potential implications for the performance of deactivation of VAAI... or support DO NOT turn it off? Thank you, Steve

    Indeed, you are using a fairly old firmware. The most recent is 07.84.53.60.

    To be able to upgrade to this version, you will need a version quite familiar of the MDSM. I would say to download 4.1.2.29 or later, which is 5.0.0.70. All servers Windows and Linux (not VMware or XenServer) server that manage and/or are connected via iSCSI SAN should have their MDSM, updated software before upgrade you the firmware on the raid on the SAN controller.

  • Interchangeability of equipment between r710 and m710

    Hi guys,.

    I have a few PowerEdge m710 with high spec CPU Core Hex and DIMM 16 GB which is no longer in use.

    Is it not possible to remove the CPU and the RAM of the m710 and put them in a r710? I checked the specs for both servers and they seem to work the same chip.

    I just want to double check before buying a few r710.

    The label information of service for the M710 Blade Server-based, it was delivered with P/N 2HF92 for 8 GB Dual Rank registered memory Module and P/N CG0NK X 5670 CPU. These two components are listed as compatible with the R710 server and so they can used in the R710, unless the upgrade on the same components were made with incompatible parts.
